DEAN

Dean Winchester left for a few minutes since the police discovered another body with the heart removed. It was once again around the main campus. One thing he did not understand was the way the creature was picking its victims. But it seemed to be at the center with the two girls and their friends. Dean walked back inside the school and into the cafeteria, which was buzzing with noise. Searching the entire room, he saw his son sitting with Cyd and Shelby.

"What the hell are you doing kid?" Dean asked himself and cleared his throat, causing the two girls to turn away from Ezra.

"Oh... uh... hi.. um... good-looking." Shelby said. While Dean used to like compliments like that, he knew Shela would kill him.

"Don't try it," Ezra warned. "My father is married."

"Sorry, I have to pull my son away, but I need to talk to him, alone," Cyd and Shelby groaned and walked back to their friend's table. Turning back to Ezra, father and son locked eyes. "Son, we need to talk."

"What?! Dad?! Here? Now? Seriously?" Ezra complained. Dean gave his son a look. Ezra groaned and followed his father outside. They stopped just near the entrance, when they were out of earshot, the two faced each other.

"Son, I know that you probably hate me, but note that we just had another attack happen," Dean said. "I think it has something to do with Shelby and Cyd." Dean explained, but noticed Ezra wasn't paying attention. He looked off at the distance, deep in thought. Dean snapped his fingers in front of Ezra, forcing him to look away. "Ezra? are you listening to me?" Ezra remained silent for a good while no matter how many times Dean tried to talk to him, Ezra did not say a single word. "What's the matter?"

"Nothing," Ezra responded simply.

"There has to be something," Dean said. "You've been quiet since we got here,"

"Dad," Ezra said. "Do we have to work this case?" he continued. "I mean, we've literally been here for a day and I kind of like it,"

"What do you mean, kind of like it?" Dean asked. "Don't tell me you're forming a connection here," Ezra huffed. He knew that this was coming and didn't like where it was going to go. "What have I told you about forming a connection with these people?"

"What's wrong with that?" Ezra questioned. "Are you telling me I need to get approval from you?"

"What's gotten into you Ezra? We're working a case,"

"No, you're working a case, Dad. I know that originally you wanted to do this with me to repair the mess, but stop,"

"Stop? Ezra, I'm doing this for us," Dean tried to reassure Ezra but Ezra just did not want to hear it. "Your mother suggested..."

"Wait," Ezra stopped him. "Mom suggested we go on this case?" Ezra turned to look at his father. His eyes were full of anger. "So, it wasn't you, you're only doing this for mom," he continued. Dean tried to touch Ezra's shoulder, but he pulled away. "No! Don't try it! Ever since you said yes to Michael, things have gone out of hand." now understanding what was happening, Dean frowned. Stress was also present on his face.

"So that's what this is about," Dean said. "Ezra, I hope you know I didn't mean for any of that to happen," Dean continued. "I did it for a reason. Is that all this is about?"

"Dad, after everything that happened, all I want is a seminormal life," Ezra complained. "I wanted to go to school, and get a degree like mom, but I can't because of this hunting lifestyle."

"What are you saying?" Dean asked.

"I'm saying you ruined my life! I want friends, so if I have to, I'll stop hunting and live my own life," Ezra yelled. He was done with all this hunting life.

"Then I'm sorry you feel that way, but your uncle said the same thing," Dean said. "You know what that makes you? Weak, I shouldn't have brought you along, not like this," Ezra turned toward his father, making Dean realize he said the wrong thing. Ezra's eyes filled with tears as he wiped them away. "Ezra... I didn't mean..." Ezra didn't give Dean a chance to say anything and took off inside. Guilt ripped through Dean. He hadn't said something like that to Ezra before, but now he regretted ever saying that to his son.
