Chapter 21
Alex's Point of View
I was getting increasingly anxious the more time passed by without any news from the doctors. It has already been three hours since the doctors took Rose into surgery. Gloria is trying her best to comfort me and keep me calm but nothing is working because I'm just too on edge and worried about my Rosemary to calm down. I allowed her to coax ne into sitting down but I wasn't gonna give into her requests to leave my spot in front of Rose's surgery room to get food or to take a shower.
Several more hours went by. I eventually lost track of time after the seventh hour of her being in surgery. I was afraid if the doctors took too much longer on her I was gonna break and I wouldn't be able to stop myself from doing something rash. What felt like days passed by and I got so frustrated that I punched a hole in the wall. Robert came back just in time and he and Gloria had to stop me before I put more holes in the walls.
Robert and Gloria sat on both sides of me to make sure I didn't try to suddenly push my way into the surgery room. We weren't waiting for very long when a tired looking doctor with blood on the front of his surgical robes came out of the room to talk to us. He told us that Rose was in critical condition but she was stable for the time being. We were told that she was in a comma but it was alright for us to go see her as long as we didn't jostle her body too much. I rushed into the room with Robert and Gloria close behind me, and I sat next to her in the chair next to the bed and held her hand.
I stroked her hair with my other hand and told her how sorry I was for not protecting her and saving her from being shot. I told her that I wished I'd taken the bullet instead of her. I was gonna do whatever I could to make sure nothing like this ever happened again while I was alive, and that I'd do everything in my power to find the person that tried to assassinate her. I let Gloria and Robert stay for a couple of hours before sending them away to run the pack in my absence, and to start running patrols around the pack lands, and to contact the other werewolf packs to be on the lookout for the shooter.
Days went by after that but I never left her side for anything but to rarely use the bathroom. Even then I used the bathroom in the room and left the door open so I could come to her side at a moments notice if she were to wake up from her comma. I didn't even move or let go of her hand when the doctors had to check up on her. They were forced to move around me. I came to the conclusion that I needed to notify her family about what happened to her. With a heavy heart and much reluctance I left her side to freshen up and eat, and then call her family.
I know this was a short chapter but I wanted to make the next chapter mostly about Rose. So I will make that chapter longer than this one. I hope you enjoy reading this chapter.
