Dex's POV

The first thing that happened when Kyra opened the door, is that I got the satisfaction of seeing her stupid shocked face. I smirked and she then had a knife at my throat. A golden one. It's blade rested on my neck slightly, not yet being pushed down, but gold still burned.

"Holy crab cakes Kyra!" I shouted, hoping my dear sister or friends might help me out.

"Holy shit is that Dex?" Another voice came from inside the house. Looks like we had company. As my da--, Mr. Marwood wrestled Kyra off of me, I looked up to see Mae's two girlfriends from when she was living a normal life. Ah good times.

"The one and only." I said, quiet pleased that they got Kyra off of me. My neck still would have a red mark, but it'd heal fast enough. "Thanks for saving me from the crazy woman." I said, then kissed Skyler and Izzy's hands, in which they both blushed a deep red, "She needs help." I whispered.

"You need help you fluffin we--" Kyra was cut off by Mr. Marwood slapping his hand over her mouth.

"Good to know I was missed." I said, still smiling, "What brings you two to the lovely ladies to the Marwood house?" I asked Mae's friends.

"Dex who are you talking to?" A voice from outside the door called. I realized it was Mae and the door had gotten closed in our lovely argument.

"You'll have to see for yourself." I called then opened the door. Mae walked in closing the door behind her. She then scanned around the room. When Mae's eyes landed on her two friends she shoved past me and hugged them.

"Aww they're hugging!" I heard another voice say. Lily.

"Lily!" I shouted, and practically knocked over Kyra to hug her. Now I know I don't like being touched, but Lily was the exception.

"Hi Dex." She said, still in my arms.

"Where have you been? I was so worried, I thought June had you. Where are the others? Is the Pride safe? Wait, why are you here? I swear if the Order did--" I was cut off when her lips met my nose. Now it was my turn to blush.

"Shut up, stupid." She said.

"There are easier ways to do it than that." I said, still flustered.

"Are we interrupting something?" Izzy asked, looking at me and Lily. I let go of Lily and stood back coolly. Yes I was cool, except for the fact that she just kissed me. Sorta. "Am I just slow or does it seem like Dex has something to tell us?"

"Where have you been?" Skyler asked, obviously mad.

"The wilderness!" I said dramatically, "I've eaten deer raw and slept under the stars." It wasn't a lie. I did both of those things.

"So you can just walk back on here like everything is chill?" Izzy asked, glaring at me.

"No I cannot." I said, "I kissed your hand first, that counts for something." And more blushing. You know, I think this was the first time in a while since I had gotten to joke properly.

That's when I heard a voice loud and clear in my head. Yes, but why were you in the newspaper? I know your hiding something Dexter I know it was you. You are the Cat Beast. I just want the truth. It was Skyler. Every once in a while I could hear others thoughts.

"If I told you the truth Miss Skyler then you wouldn't like being mauled up and thrown in the street." I said, glaring. From her shocked expression I knew she wasn't expecting that.

"I need answers. You aren't careful enough. You cave me enough clues, now I want the confession." She sounded so sure. The others gazed at us, lost and confused.

"Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you." With that I turned into my true beastly form. Brown fur and golden eyes. Sharp claws and a long tail. I was a werecat, and I knew that this was the last thing Skyler expected me to do.

"Dexter Marwood what the hell are you doing?" Mae asked me but her voice sounded strange to my ears.

"O-Okay Dex I changed my mind. I don't need to know a thing!"

In a flash Lily was by my side whiskers and claws. I knew Lily would do anything for me. I was her Alpha and also her friend. I couldn't think of a stronger bond between the two of us. Mae on the other paw--Ha ha cat joke--was looking hesitant to shift. I was her brother but Skyler was her friend.

I walked up to Skyler, on my hind legs so I would be taller than her. She looked at my eyes but then looked away quickly, not wanting to anger the monster she thought I was. Then I sat down and just peered at her. My yellow eyes reflecting in her blue ones. I was not a monster. I was a werecat.

I shifted back into my human form and there was a long moment of silence. No one in the room dared to speak, move or even breathe. I stood up so that the Skyler and Izzy, Kyra and Mr. Marwood, they would all know I was who I was, and nobody could ever think about changing it.

Mae's POV

I spent the rest of the night shifting from foot to foot being as awkward as I possibly could. Eventually we let in Willow, Eva and Eliva in and introduced them to my family and friends. Which was awkward. Dex kept making off comments and flirting, which blew my mind. Time with the Pride really did change him.

At about midnight, Izzy and Skyler decided they were staying at our house, and called their parents. My Dad let us me and Dex spend the night, without putting us in the Cellar. So I guess this was a positive sign. I curled up on the couch and fell into a deep sleep.

When I woke up I saw Dex was already awake, I hoped he had gotten some sleep last night. Although it was unlikely since he spent the day sleeping on the bus. Everyone else in the living room was passed out. That included Kyra, Izzy, Skyler, Lily, Eva, Eliva, and Willow. Damn there were a lot of people in this house.

I got up and decided to look out the window. The sky was lighting up as the sun rose, and I saw that little snowflakes, were falling. For a short moment I wished I was out there, playing in the snow. But then that moment passed and my face burned when I realized how childish that would be.

"It's not that childish." Dex said, quietly behind me.

"How do you always know what I'm thinking?" I murmured.

"'Cause your rusty. Plus you have always let your guard down around me." He said, giving a sheepish smile.

"Cheeky werecat." I said shoving him.

"Just go do it. None of your Order friends can stop you." He said, and I smiled.

"Okay then." I said and raced out the door. Luckily they had replaced the handles so I could get out. After the door shut behind me I shifted into my werecat form, filled with the urge to race through the trees. Oh I loved the snow!

The trees past by in a blur, my paws leaving fresh prints in the snow. My problems and worries were left in the human world as I entered a new one. I wasn't Mae a tool for the Order to use to kill werecats. I was a girl who could change into a cat to fight for her life to do what I want, to be free! To be me. Which was practically forbidden in the Order.

Then I felt something jump on me. My legs almost buckled under the sudden weight on my back, but instead I went limp. The thing on my back yowled at the sudden weight they were forced to carry.  Then I pushed them off, digging my hind claws into their fur. As soon as they were gone I turned around hissing. I also got a good first look at my attacker. It was a small cream werecat with happy blue eyes. Lily?

"Wow De--" She started, "Your not Dex. Who are you?" She hissed, suddenly devensive.

"Chill out Lily. I'm well within my legal rights to run in the woods." I snapped, then I realized that she didn't know I was a werecat.

"Holy crap! Mae? I new you were a cat, but you look just like Dex!" Lily said, baffled. I didn't know how she knew that unless... Kyra.

"Who looks just like me?" Another voice sounded. Both my  and Lily jumped up our fur fluffing up, claws out. Only it was Dex.

"Shit Dex, never do that again." I said, calming down.

"Hey Dexy, your sister is a much better fighter than you." Lily said then she began retelling what had happened in the woods. I totally zoned out on everything.

"I taught her everything she knows." Dex teased, shoving my side.

"Sure you did." I retorted.

"You guys bicker too much. Why don't we start running?" Lily said, but before we could respond, she took off. Trees went flying by again and I had returned to my perfect moment. Little did we know, it was about to end.

And I guess I'm ending on a ominous note. Again. Oh well I love you guys. Sorry it took forever to update, it's because I was rereading the book. Like all my books.
