Chapter 14: Gunshots & Music
Kyra's POV
Few Days Earlier
I awoke to the sound to gunshots. My head rang, and I knew I must have been knocked out. My stomach twisted at the thought of my most recent battle. I had almost never lost a battle before. It was like they were every where, but no where.
As I sat up, I saw the strangest thing. Outside the open door I saw a army of shadows retreating, and the there was a man. He was dressed in black, which was silly, since it wasn't dark outside, and I couldn't make out his face.
Another gunshot sounded and I noticed, he was the one doing the shooting. I jumped to my feet and unsheathed my knife. With one swift movement, I threw the knife into the man's back and he fell to the ground. I didn't know who he was shooting, but I didn't want to be next.
Once I stepped outside, it was clear bullets weren't in the gun, but tranquilizer darts. Our lovely three traitor werecats, plus Dillan and Red were passed out on the ground, breathing deeply. As I moved towards them, I heard a twig snap and I spun around immediately.
Two kids, around my age were there. The girl, was wearing a green dress and a camo vest. She had short dirty blond hair, and blue eyes. She had a golden whip in her hands, and she looked ready to kill. The other was a boy and he had red hair, freckles and a green eyed gaze. He was wearing camo pants and a green shirt. I knew who they were immediately.
"Hello traitors." I said coldly.
"Hello Kyra." The girl said.
"What have you two been up too?" I asked.
"Betraying people, what else?" The boy said, with a smile.
"So Beth, killed anyone lately? How about you Tommy?" I said.
"No, we aren't cold blooded murders, like you Kyra." Beth said, gesturing towards the man.
"He would have shot me." I said, defending myself.
"Sure." Tommy said, smugly, "Now if you don't mind I have some werecats to turn in."
"Since when have you two turned in werecats? I thought you just, killed them." I said.
"Well the Luner Claws works differently from the Order. It's better. We would rather use werecats for our own good, rather than just slaughter them off." Tommy said.
"Wait, you work for the Luner Claws?" I asked, bewildered.
"Yes." Beth said, impatiently.
"Like the sworn enemies of the Order?" I said.
"And the Order had a werecat in it's ranks. Don't act so surprised." Beth retorted, gesturing to Mae.
"Mae's different. She didn't choose to become a werecat."
"Yet you find her untrustworthy." Tommy said.
"And all the werecats you guys slaughter did? Face it Kyra, you guys are just cold hearted killers." Beth said simply. I wanted to deny it, but how could I? It was true. A werecat was born into a pure werecat family line, or a Alpha line, or was bitten, there was no choosing to be a werecat.
"Damn it! I hate it when you're right!" I screamed.
"I know." Beth said, smugly.
"Beth!" Tommy said, "We need to move these cats now!"
"You know I can't let you have them." I said.
"Why do you have to make things difficult?" Beth said.
I lunged at her with my knife and she snapped her whip at me. I ducked down, and the whip only struck air. Meanwhile Tommy started running past me, so I stabbed him in the leg with my knife. Blood was drawn and I felt a twinge of satisfaction. Beth took advantage to me exposed back, and struck me, hard.
I turned around and charged her with my knife. I was almost to her when she reviled a knife of her own, only in gold. Own knives struck, and we held them strong, neither of us backing down. I however, noticed her exposed stomach and kneaded her there, hard. She fell to the ground, and I stabbed her arm.
I was about to do it again, when I was suddenly knocked off my feet. I saw Tommy charging at me, with fire in his green eyes. I jumped to my feet and noticed he was unarmed. I step sided, his second blow and he tripped over Beth's body. They both got to there feet before finally giving me one last look of hatred and running off. I heard a car start, and drive off, which was a little weird since neither of them should be able to drive yet.
I looked back to the passed out werecats, who were starting to wake now. Only they weren't all there. With as sickening jolt, I realized Tommy must have loaded Mae and Dex into his car. I knew that if the Luner Claws had Dex and Mae, this would not be good, not good at all.

Lily's POV
(You know the werecat girl who was Dex's friend while he was in the Pride, yes her.)
Few Days Before Before
I was sleeping when they first came into camp. I thing we all were. I remember waking to the sound of terrible music. It splintered my ears, and made me want to cry. I saw Charlotte wake up, too, covering her ears. I remember Sparrow and a few others were awake too.
We didn't move, for some reason, and I guess that was what saved our lives. The rest of the Pride started to move about, sort of in a trance and went outside. When we finally moved they had all disappeared.
"Where did they go?" I asked, no one in particular.
"I'm not sure..." Flake said, she was in cat form, along with the rest of us, and her fluffy light fur glowed in the moonlight.
"It's going to be okay." Ash said. She was Flake's sister, and I wasn't sure if she was talking to me, or Flake, "Powder-Puff." she added. Flake, swiped her on the head with a paw.
"I told you not to call me that!" She snapped, "Just because that flea bitten Dillan calls me that, doesn't mean you have too."
"I think it suites you." Ash said, playfully.
"Be quiet girls." Their mother, Dew snapped. She was my father's sister, so I was technically kin to all three of them. My father disappeared a few years ago, after a terrible fire, the whole Pride thinks he's dead. I think he was too smart to die like that. My mother, I noticed wasn't among the remaining werecats and I felt a pang of sadness, and a need to find her.
There was a little boy, named Shadow here too. He was even younger than me. He was standing next to his father, Sparrow. I remembered the day that Sparrow came to camp, even though I was a little girl. One of our Pride members had broken Pride law, and ventured to the human world where she met Sparrow.
They fell in love, and the whole Pride was oblivious to this whole matter. It wasn't extremely out of the ordinary for a werecat to disappear into the woods for a few hours, every night, for at least once in their life. But one faithful day, she brought back Sparrow. She admitted their love, and Sparrow was changed into a werecat. He changed his human name, to Sparrow, and has been living in the Pride ever since. This was no secret, to the werecats of the Pride, all except for Dex. Sparrow made us swear not to say anything, in case it would endanger his position as a high werecat.
"I think we all need to calm down." Sparrow said "We need to figure out why we are still here when the rest of us are gone."
"So what we have in conman?" I asked.
"Exactly." Sparrow said.
"Well I'm kin with Lily, Dew and Flake." Ash said.
"I"m kin with you, Papa!" Shadow said.
"So kin, is a good start. Was anyone else in you are kin to taken?" Sparrow asked.
"My mom!" I exclaimed, "And her kin."
"Our Father and his kin." Flake added.
"My Momma!" Shadow added.
"I don't have any kin." Charlotte said, speaking for the first time. Normally she was fairly quiet, but she wouldn't hesitate to butt her opinion in, if needed.
"So what's the line... what is the line...." Sparrow said. I started thinking as well.I immediately started tracing my bite mark on my wrist with my claw, out of habit. I had to be bitten to be a werecat because my great-grandmother was human, on my Dad's side... My eyes flashed from the bite mark to bite mark on all of out wrists.
"I got it!" I exclaimed, "We all had to be bitten to be transformed into werecats! That's the connection!"
"Of course! Why didn't I think of that!" Sparrow said.
"So what do we do now?" Flake asked.
"I suggest we go make camp at our summer hunting grounds by the falls, in case they come back." Sparrow said.
"What about Dex!" I said, worried what had become of our Alpha. He had left this morning, speaking a language that I couldn't understand, none of us could, and he hadn't come back.
"We can't risk staying here any longer." Sparrow said, a little too quickly.
"Can't we leave him a sign?" Charlotte asked.
"No." He said, quickly again. Then hastily he added, "If we leave something for him, it could be interpreted by the enemy."
Everyone except Charlotte and I nodded their heads in agreement. I sighed and we started to move out. As we ran along the trees I couldn't help but thing of Sparrow's reaction to letting Dex know where we had gone. I knew he was right, but part of me had to wonder if it was because he wanted to hold on to his new found power.

AN:
So Sparrow is threatening Dex's leadership, The Luner Claws are threatening Dex and Mae and the Order, and June and her Army of Shadows are threatening Cloudcroft. You wish this story only had one bad guy! Okay, that's enough fun for now. Member to vote and comment. BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The picture is of cats and music... it's more on topic than the last one.
