Chapter 11: The Honorable Ones & The Dark Deals
Kyra's POV
As the door clicked open, me and Mae's dad whipped our heads around to see who it was. Mae walked in first, she stood in front of us, and looked her Dad square in the eyes. Xander followed, he was looking down, being careful not to meet our gaze. He reminded me a little kid that was about to be punished. Finally Dex walked in. The emotion on his face was unreadable, and his movements have nothing away.
"Mae!" Her Dad said, "It's good to see you've returned! I thought you must have gone after our missing werecat."
"Why does everyone say that! I have a name you know, and I can't believe Mae talked me into coming back to this place." Dex said, I knew the expression on his face very well now, it was anger, "You do realize you're my father right?"
"Yes, and you do realize you are a werecat, right?" His Dad retorted, still mostly calm.
"Of course! I'm just sick of being called that. First it was Mae, then those two idiots I ran into back a while ago, now you!" Dex shouted.
"Wait, you ran into Emma and Emilie?" I asked, "Where are they!"
"The male ones, and Mae..." He trailed off, realizing he probably already said to much. Mae elbowed him, for a good measure.
If they ran into the boys, where were they? They wouldn't just let them run off, that's for sure. I glanced at Dex's wrists and noticed the red marks. The golden handcuffs had defiantly been there. The only question was, where were the handcuffs now?
"Quiet staring!" Dex snapped, "It's considered rude with the cats, I guess you people, just don't have any manners!"
"I'll teach you who doesn't have manners you litt--" I stopped when I noticed the glare I was getting from Mae and Dex's Dad.
"Mae, where are they? You obviously ran into them, judging from Dex's wrists, and there is no way he could knock them out, or worse, with you two standing nearby." Their Dad said, Mae looked down, as if she didn't want to say what happened.
"I got you, Mae! You were the one who said we needed to be honest." Dex said, "So to start, I didn't escape. These two let me out. As for when we were walking back. The boys put some cuffs on me, and they said it was wrong. Then they put cuffs on Xander. So Mae knocked them out, and I had to drag one of them back. I made sure he felt that in the morning!"
"Wait, you said they put cuffs on Xander, why?" I asked. Xander pulled up his shirt sleeve and I saw the red burn marks. He was a cat, too.
"Mae did you know about this?" Her Dad asked.
"I did, but it was only until right before, he let Dex out. Dex told us, and then--"
"You said he let Dex out. How could he do that? And why? I mean you could have let him out..." I trailed off.
"Oh, you blew it Mae!" Dex said, his voice on the edge of laughter, "I can keep my secret for nearly four months, and you can't keep it for four minutes!"
"You didn't have the Order interrogating you!" Mae snapped back.
"I did have one living with me for the said four months." Dex retorted.
"Well there's--"
"One in the room!" Dex said, then he burst out laughing, when he finally stopped, he added, "Can I go now? I think I've been punished a lot, now."
"Keep your whiskers on." I said to him, "We aren't done, yet."
"I would say the same to you, but I don't suppose you want to have your whiskers do you!" He burst out laughing, and I heard Mae chuckle too.
"You little bitch!" I screamed at Dex.
"I am not. Firstly I'm not a female. Secondly I'm not a dog!" He said.
"Can't I just kill him?" I asked, their Dad. He didn't answer and I looked back at Dex. Only he was gone. I turned around behind me, to see he'd gone full cat.
He hissed at me, something that would might make another shake in fear. I wasn't that person though. Dex charged me, knocking me off balance. I wasn't prepared for that. Werecats always open with a pounce.
I lay on the ground and Dex pinned me. I kicked his gut and he loosened his grip, just the tiniest bit. I used that to get out. I then changed at his side, and he flipped over to the ground. I tackled him, and unshethed my knife.
I stabbed it into his side, and blood came out. The wound instant repaired itself, and I was a bit shocked. I knew he could do that, but I'd never seen it, up close. I flipped Dex over, and tried to slice his throat, nobody could survive that. I raised my hand for the blow, only it never came.
I was thrown off Dex and I looked to see two werecats. They looked almost exactly the same. Same glowing red eyes, same brown pelt. The oh difference was, Dex was bigger than the other. I looked for Mae, hoping she'd help, only I only saw, her Dad passed out on the couch, and Xander, looking at me innocently. Then it hit me. Mae was this other werecat.
Mae readied herself for a pounce, but Dex flicked his tail to stop her. I could see he was telling her not to do it. I readied myself for another charge, but instead Dex pounced. What kind of werecat is he! He pinned me, and sunk his claws into my skin. Suddenly the door fell to the ground, and there was Dillan and Red.
* * *
Dillan's POV
As the door fell to the ground, me and Red saw the chaos going on inside. Dex was on someone, Kyra I think, ready to kill, and there was another one too. Xander was in the corner, just watching, and then there was us.
Dex got off of Kyra, but not before knocking her out and shifted into his human form, the other werecat shifted and I realized, with a shock, it was Mae. They both walked up to us, a smirk on their faces.
"Ah Princess, a bit dramatic entrance there!" He said, in a voice that wasn't his own. I knew it was Nick.
"Sorry Nick, but golden handles aren't own thing." Red replied sharply.
"I never liked that door anyways. So what brings you to this lovely house?" He asked, with mock hospitality.
"Nick why bother toying with them. Can't we just kill them both?" Mae's cat said.
"Show a bit more respect for your Princess, Lana." Nick scolded.
"Ah, so this is one of the famous Princesses of werecats. When will I get to meet your sister?" Lana said.
I felt my heart skip a beat. How did they know about June? I remember when I first met her, so sweet and kind. She stood up for what she thought was right, even when others thought it was wrong. When she came to the World something changed, something snapped. I thought power corrupted her, but Red thought it was something else, and she refused to speak of it.
"How do you know of June?" Red asked, struggling to keep calm.
"Well we met her first in the underground facility, then she kept reappearing. She last showed her cowardly face, right behind you." Nick said.
Me and Red whipped around to see he was right. June stood there smiling, a wicked smile. I saw Red let out a hiss but June paid no attention to it. We both walked outside of the house, to face her. Nick and Lana followed us, and we stood in perfect silence.
"Hey June." I heard Nick hiss, breaking into the silence, "What did you do with my Pride?"
"What do you mean?" I asked. I didn't think anything could ever harm them. I mean, even Red was slightly scared of them.
"Wouldn't you like to know." June replied smoothly, ignoring my question, "Besides I'm here to see you! I see someone's having problems with Dex."
"You don't know anything!" He snapped.
"Of course I do. To your surprise, I know lots of things. I know were your Pride is, or at least some of it, and I know you are Nick, and you're mad at Dex, you want to make him do horrible things." She said.
"I don't think, I've personally had the pleasure of meeting you. How do you know all these things about me?" He said, mostly curious.
"I have my ways. Now, why don't we make a little deal?" She said, "You and your sister, Lana I presume, join me, and I'll let you Pride go." She said.
"Why should I believe you?" Nick said.
"Oh? I'll show you." She snapped her fingers and suddenly the shadows started to pool, creating werecats. The shadows gained color, and I realized, these were the members of the pride. Their eyes were black, and their teeth bared
"Possession." I heard Red breath. I didn't know what she meant, at first. Then I remembered reading something in the werecat library about it. It was where Shadows of former lives possessed the living. They weren't just any normal former Shadows, they were the worst criminals of this life and the next. They were summoned by the Shadow Wolf, ruler of nightmares. Mainly, my own.
"Hello Dillan." a familiar voice said. I turned to see him. His black shadow wolf pelt, and solid red eyes, that only haunted my nightmares. He jumped on me, and I flinched, preparing for the blow. Only it never came. His body flew threw me and I was filled with a strange chill.
"You're not really here." I said, as realization filled my body. I wasn't really in the nightmare world.
"Well you're defiantly smarter than you look." He said with a smirk.
"Well? Time is money, Nick." June snapped impatiently. Nick looked from one of his Pride members to the next. I noticed that Charlotte wasn't among them, also that sweet little girl, Lily. I saw that Powder Puff and Sparrow were also missing. I saw a few others were gone.
Nick was opened, his mouth to respond, but nothing came out. He fell to the ground, like a crumpled ball. Lana, I think, fell next. June looked around, and something spooked her, because she disappeared into the trees. I saw Red fall next, and before I could run, I, too, fell into a icy darkness.
