Chapter 1: Cherry Poptarts & Homecomings
START OF PART 1
Mae's POV
It was my worse nightmare. Worse than werecats, worse than murder, worse than death itself. We were out cherry poptarts. "I'm gonna murder Dillan when he gets back." I muttered under my breath. He ate the last poptart then put the box back in pantry. I mean who does that?
"What's wrong with you?" Kyra asked, being her normal self, butting into my life.
"Nothing." I sighed. We were in Dillan and Red's house in the woods, and I hadn't seen Dillan all morning. When I had woken up he was gone. I was late as it was to get Kyra and her... backup. I had met some fairly strange people in Cloudcroft, but none as strange as them.
"Neet place you got here." Kyra said. I nearly fell over, when the words left her lips. Kyra never gave compliments, and I mean never.
"Thanks." I said, coolly, only after a moment's pause. "It isn't mine though." I admitted, even though I liked Kyra's complement, I couldn't lie, now could I?
"Who's is it then?" Kyra asked, thoroughly confused. Most things never got past her so I guess it might be shocking to hear that she was wrong.
Before I could answer, Dillan burst threw the door. He had ear buds in and seemed to have been running. He went straight for the fridge and grabbed a water, not even noticing the new company in the house. I went up to him and pulled out his ear buds. Before he could protest I cut him off.
"This is Dillan. He owns this place with his friend Red." I said. "Dillan this is Kyra, Emma, and Emilie. They are staying here, like you said they could."
"I suppose you can take my room and the guest room for now. Just not Red's room. She would sure be pissed at that. Me and Mae can camp out in here."
"Wonderful." Kyra said. With a unspoken agreement, Kyra went into the guest room and Emma and Emilie went into Dillan's. Dillan let out a sigh while I looked at him with furious eyes. He was oblivious though.
"I'm glad that Kyra's in the guest room. She would probably be poking around to much. Thoughs other two don't seem to smart, if you know what I'm saying..." He trailed off as he notced my glare. "What?" he asked.
"Did you eat the last poptart?" I asked. Dillan gave my a guilty smile to confirm his crime. "Jerk." I muttered as I pushed past him.
"I'm sorry Mae." He called after me.
"No you aren't!" I said, only half-joking.
"Look I'll go to Family Dollar and get some more if you want." He said.
"That would be very nice." I said, my voice still sounding mad, "Thank you!" I screamed.
"Your welcome!" Dillan screamed back. He gave me a playful grin then walked out the door. I smiled to myself when Kyra poked her head out of the door.
"Why are you screaming?" She asked me.
"Because it's fun." I said, innocently.
"Well stop it." She said then started to storm off to the guest room.
"You never did like fun!" I called after her.
"Stop it!"
"Except that one time-"
"Don't you go there!"
"Gone! The one time where you went to that party and you showed up in a dress from the 1960's and everyone just stared at you and-"
"Your wicked." She said.
"Oh but you love it!" I said, happily.
"Damn you Mae. Damn you."
"Hey at least I'm not a ass-hole!" I called to her, playfully.
"At least I'm not bitch!" She said, returning my tone.
"Damn you Kyra."
"Go fuck yourself." Kyra said to me. I pretended to look offened then I put on a smile.
"Maybe I will." Then I walked out the front door, like I was going to do something, important. Although I went back in about five seconds later and Kyra was gone. I then sat down on the couch and opened the book I was reading last night. I suppose if I couldn't eat my cherry poptarts now, I better do something 'till Dillan gets back, little did I forget, that tonight was a full moon.

Dex's POV
"If you had one wish what would it be?" Lily asked me, but I wasn't listening, not to her at least. It was mid-morning and I had gone on a walk. For some odd reason Lily followed me and was now bombarding me with half-brained questions. "Dex!" Lily shouted, trying to get my attention.
"Huh?" I said, as Lily broke me out of my trance. I mean semi-trance. I looked at her face and she looked at me expectantly.
"You weren't listening." Lily said, "I asked you about a dozen questions and all you did was nod. Why are you ignoring me?" She whined. I looked at her face and felt a bit guilty. She was really upset I hadn't listened to her.
"I'm sorry, Lily. My mind's just not here right now." I said. Lily still looked a bit upset but a beginning of a smile was appearing on her face. "In my defense, you were asking half brained questions." I added. Lily put on a face of mock offence.
"Fine. Now I'll ask full brained questions. What are we doing tonight?" She asked.
"What's tonight?"
"Now who's asking half-brained questions. The full moon, stupid!"
"Oh. I'm not sure." I said, honestly.
"I say we go into town! I've never been before and I really want to see it. Sparrow once told me that the towns people will kill you and spread your guts along the road, but I think he was lying. You lived in town and your fine. Anyways can we go? I really want to see it."
"I'm not sure if that's a good idea. I know the towns people won't give us a problem but I do think Mae will be on alert, and believe me, she'll kill you in a heartbeat." I said, I wasn't trying to scare Lily, truthfully but I felt she needed to know the truth.
"That doesn't matter. She'll be no problem for the both of us. Can we please go!" Lily said. I thought for a moment before I gave her my answer.
"I suppose so, but if we want to get there by nightfall then we should go now." I said. Lily gave a happy little bounce and we started off. We shifted into our cat forms and started to run along the trail. I hoped I wouldn't be missed too much back at camp.
. . .
When we arrived at Cloudcroft, the sun was already starting to set. The sky was painted in a vibrant array of colors, ranging from pink to orange, to purple. I sat next to Lily, our fur touching. I saw the last ray of sun fall from the sky and turned around to see the full moon awaking from it's daytime slumber. It was to late to shift into humans now.
As the sky turned as black as a raven's wing, I saw lights in houses become more vibrant, like little suns in each house. I saw Lily's face full fright, wonder, and excitement. The sky was clear so the stars shone above us nicely. I smiled to myself, not realizing how many werecats had ever seen this before.
As we got deeper into the night the house lights turned off, and soon the town was into a deep sleep, and the stars and moon were our only light. I tasted the air nervously, I knew that Mae was looking for us now, if she ever was. The woods had fallen into a eerie silence now.
"That was amazing." Lily said, breaking into the silence, "You were really lucky to get to live here Dex. I wish I could have. I mean it beats living in the smelly old cave. I mean--" I cut her off wish a swish of my tail and she looked at me expectantly.
"You were lucky to be born in the Pride. You have nothing to prove, no reason for anyone question your loyalty. You will never have to face a sibling in battle, never have to spill the blood of those who share it with you." I said, then I raised my voice trying to get Lily to understand, "You might not even be a werecat. You might never feel the wind in your fur, or feel the satisfaction in your first hunt. You won't have a Pride, just humans, and all of their bitterness."
"When you put it that way, I guess I am lucky." She murmured, as the words sunk in. I just nodded and said nothing more. The eerie silence had returned, and neither of us dared to break it again.
Suddenly I heard a rustle in the bushes. My breath shortened, and a human figure appeared from the bushes. It was followed by another, then another, then another! There was four of them now. Their eyes were like black beads, reflecting their soul. I couldn't make out their details, due to the shadows, but I didn't think this was Mae, she worked alone. I let out a low hiss, but the human figures didn't seem to care.
Finally the first stepped into the moonlight, and she was followed by the others. I knew who the lead girl was, it was Mae. It looked like she had called some of her Order friends to save her. Even though I thought I was going o die, I still felt a pang of satisfaction. I had caused enough trouble that Mae needed help.
"Hello Dexter." Mae said, using words made of ice. I hissed at her, again, but she didn't seem alarmed, again. "You think your one of them, do you?" She continued, "Well if that's the side you choose, so be it."
I wished for human words so I could retort, but I knew humans were to ignorant to understand me. I looked at Lily and mentally urged her to run, try to get help. She seemed to understand, and was slowly backing away.
"Why do you bother talking to the werecats?" One of the girls asked. She had straight brown hair put up in a ponytail and icy blue eyes. She wore a black leather jacket, and dark grey jeans.
"Mind your own business, Kyra." Mae hissed to the girl. I guessed she didn't want to talk about how I was her brother and she tried, and failed, to kill me. I glanced behind me to shee Lily was almost to the brush, were she'd be safe.
"I am. You are talking to a werecat, so you mush know it!" Kyra said, I heard Mae retort, but I wasn't paying attention. Lily had disappeared. I felt myself smile happily, relived that at least one of us would survive. Then I heard a terrible yowl. Mae and Kyra both stopped the argument and then looked at me.
I saw they weren't sure what to do so I ran for it. I could hear a round of gunshots being fired at me but I knew they were all fired too late. I was gone. I knew they would pursue me, but I just needed to find Lily. I finally came to a clearing were all there was was a few chunks of fur, and blood.
Then I saw them. Two werecats. One with a pelt of raven black, and the other had a pelt the color of the setting sun. It was June and Kya. On the ground before them was the small body of Lily. I thought she was dead, at first, but then I saw the slight rising and falling of her chest.
"Oh look it's Dexter!" June said, as though happy to see me. "I was hoping she'd bring you here, just not this quickly!"
"Leave Lily alone." I hissed, my eyes glowing red. Kya looked like she was about to do it when June got in the way.
"No." She said simply. "You cannot control me boy, I'm not a puppet, whose stings you can pull. I am more powerful than you."
"How? Only Red is more powerful, and she's a princess. You can't be."
"Oh I'll have you know otherwise."
"What? I don't understand."
"Shocked are we? Well let me spell it out for you. My name is Princess Juniata Marie of the Sunrise Pride. Or Red's sister, if I need to make it clearer."

AN:
Dun! Dun! Dun! Red and June are sisters! I mean who knew right? Right? If your one of those people who can predict anything, how did you know? Well I sure knew. This is one of the drop bomb secrets that I knew when I first wrote in June! Ha! Take that everyone who said other wise.
In another note, I'm so happy this was finished. I actually based the poptart off of a true story, that really happened to me! I know, gasp in horror! It was all johnny_jackson's dueing, (PS, he's my bro, bro!) So now that you have been thoroughly shocked, continue on with your life, but remember to vote and comment before you do!
