Grant Ward

Oh, crap. It's technically Sunday now. Whoops!

Thinking about it, this is one of my lamest stories ever. Oh, well. I'll keep writing it anyway. Eventually, it'll go through editing and hopefully improve.

Well, Skye's captured and Ward's off to save her. He's in the building now, and he's just encountered Storm/Lincoln. Yikes! What's next?

Storm is a werewolf. I can smell him. My eyes glint, and I have to force my wild inside, causing me to lose my half change. I reach inside my backpack, and put on my mask. I hadn't realized this was a SHIELD danger. Luckily, I always wear my superhero suit at home. It's comfortable.

Storm realizes I'm SkyFire. He nods, and relaxes. Captain America, however, doesn't seem to be pleased to see me. I know why. Skye and the rest of them thought I was in league with several villains. I didn't correct them. As long as Skye stayed away from me, she was safe.

I nod a Storm's direction. He nods back. Werewolves and wendigos are a lot closer than people think. I have several werewolves in my pack, because when it comes to dominance, it didn't matter. I wonder if I'm stronger than Storm. Probably, but I didn't want to get cocky.

"Come in." I say, my voice still has a growl from the change. "I smell Skye."

Captain begrudgingly enters, followed by Cello and Storm. I can smell Cello's emotion for our dear Captain, but Captain America doesn't have the same scent.

I grunt. He was an idiot. I could smell his heartbreak. "Who was she, Coulson?" I ask once the hatch is closed. "Who broke your heart?"

I wince as soon as the words were out. Wendigos had a habit of being blunt. Coulson just sighs, he knows me and he knows wendigos, "Rosalind Price. She and I were dating." I raise my eyebrows but keep my mouth shut. I didn't know what would come out. Finally, we come to a metal door with Skye's scent on the other side. Coulson starts to suggest something, "I can try pick locking the doo-"

Before he can finish, I shoot the door with the tank's guns. There is a big, smoking, gaping hole now, and Ms. Price was staring at it along with Skye and the other members of SHIELD. "Or we could do that."

I open the hatch, my wild is back. My half change makes it obvious what I am. Ms. Price smiles, "SkyFire. So nice to see you again."

When I try to respond, it sounds like a bunch of growls and inhuman shrieks. I had wanted to tell them to leave Skye alone, but my change was too far. I wasn't fully changed, but it was enough to render me unable to speak. I glance at Skye, and leap from the top of the tank.

Ms. Price speaks again, unfazed. "You were the one with these beautiful Icers at your home. You know, I never got to thank you for giving them to me."

I raise an eyebrow. Ms. Price had broken into my home, had me whipped like an animal, chained me up, and threaten to hurt Skye if I didn't show her where my Icer was.

"Don't give me that look. You deserved every bit that you got. You and I both know that you are nothing but a monster. Next time, it'll be more."

I growl, and break Skye's chair. Skye glares at me, "You gave her your Icer?"

I roll my eyes at her, she ought to know better than that. Even if she didn't trust me, she should realize that Ms. Price would never ask a wendigo nicely.

I break everyone else's chairs. I turn back to Rosalind Price. She smirks, "Was he your partner? The wendigo? Out of all the viable leaders in your team, you picked the wendigo for your partner?"

Skye snaps at her, "We don't just hate creatures for being different. We try to accept them for who they are. Why? Because that is the humane thing to do. And yes, he used to be my partner."

"You're fools. This wendigo would just as soon kill you as it would me." Ms. Price says. "Wendigos are monsters that need to be stamped out."

I shudder. Skye was my mate. I wouldn't hurt one hair on her head, and it was my job to make sure everybody treated my angel the same way. I manage to speak, though it is deep, gravely and low. "I'm not a monster. And you took that Icer by force."
