Chapter 19

Narrator POV

She walked away, knowing that someone was out there for her. She didn't like that someone knew, but she hated more that no one would know. She turned around to see the boy following her.

"Why are you still following me?" She asked, fingering her jacket zipper.

"Because I care," He replied, adjusting his backpack.

"Ian, it was nothing okay, it-" She was stopped short as he stared at her, she knew that look.

She breathed in, she turned around and smiled. Hoping that she was wrong about the look, but clearly, she was correct.

"Mr. Reiter," She said as she smiled.

He stared them up and down, first at Ian then at Keila. He watched as they stared awkwardly at him.

"Ian, Keila," He said as he went around them. "Good evening, have a good night."

"You too," Keila said through gritted teeth.

Ian watched as Keila walked forward, he followed her, curious of what was going on. He watched as she fingered her bag, as if it was her nervousness and a mix of being bored.

"Are you getting nervous around me?" He asked as he fell into her step.

"What? No!" She said quickly as she let go of the backpack. "What makes you think that?" She said stopping him in his tracks.

"You look nervous, very nervous." He replied as he faced her. "Are you nervous?"

~*~*~

Mr. Reiter smiled as he watched them, he had been watching the whole time, he couldn't help it. He shook his head, he knew how tough Keila could be, but it didn't mean that she didn't have feelings.

He knew that she did get nervous, easily, he knew how hard it was for her to deal with so many things. He may not have heard it from her, but he knew, just by the look on her face every day, she needed something and someone to hold onto. She needed support, and she did have feelings.

He watched as she stared at Ian, he heard their whole conversation, and now, he was getting intrigued.

"Are you nervous Keila?" Ian asked.

Keila took a deep breath in. "No, I'm-" She sighed and shook her head. "A little."

"Why?" Ian asked as he stared into her eyes.

"Because, I'm afraid you won't like me, I'm afraid no one will," Keila paused and stared at him.

Ian waited for her to continue, watching her very carefully.

"Because I'm afraid no one will love me."
