Chapter 15

Narrator POV

She sighed as she stared at her own wrist. She nodded to Keisah, but soon, Mr. Reiter rounded the corner and she quickly put a smile on her face and hid her wrist.

He walked by, staring at her, he obviously knew something was up, but decided that he'd have to wait. He left Kesiah and Keila to themselves.

"How did that happen?" Kesiah said as she turned Keila's hand over.

"I don't know, up here, it's gotten better, but I think when I did that save... it must've gotten worse." She replied as she closed the cast and put her sleeve over it.

"You'll be okay?" Her glasses dropping down her nose.

"I'll be fine, hopefully, won't be dead for the tournament." She smiled.

Kesiah smiled and laughed, that was a joke they shared, but she always knew, it was something serious. She wouldn't die, obviously, but she could hurt herself, easily. She had always been looking out for her "twin" and she cared very much.

"Yo, what's going on?" A girl came by and stood beside them.

"Oh nothing Laura," Keila replied stepping away. "I've got to get my stuff, see you." She said as she walked to her locker.

"What was that about?" Laura said.

"Oh, nothing, she was just showing me the healing part of her arm," Kesiah said as she opened her locker.

"Mhmm... okay, well, goodbye, I'll go talk to her," Laura said as she rushed after her.

Laura slowed her run and watched as Keila swiped at her hair and eyes, she walked towards the bathroom, where Keila was headed. Watching her carefully. She walked in and waited behind the wall, listening to Keila talk to herself, peaking around to watch her.

She heard sighs and her murmuring to herself, but not enough to catch the full conversation, so she just decided to leave and head to Keila's locker.

Keila soon walked out and saw Laura there, she immediately put her arm behind her, pulling down the sleeve while she was turned around.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" She asked as she did the code into her locker.

"Oh, well I'd already gotten my stuff, they're at the couches, so I'm just here cause well, no one else is." She replied leaning on the lockers beside Keila.

"You're worried about me aren't you?" Keila asked, already knowing the answer.

"Well duh! What's going on?" She asked as she turned to her.

"Nothing, I was just talking about practice, nothing out of the ordinary," She replied taking out her backpack.

"Come on! You left me hanging yesterday!" She replied trying to get the truth out of her friend.

"Look, I just bruise a little easily, I got one on my arm, it's nothing." She said taking out her lunch kit and stuffing it into her bag.

"Don't lie," She said, crossing her arms.

"I didn't, it's true," Keila said as she zipped her bag and got her sweater, putting it around her, then taking out her other bags.

"Keila! You can't just say, 'Oh diagnoses blah blah blah,' and then not tell me about it!" She said, still pushing her to tell.

"Later okay?" She said as she slung her backpack over her shoulder, locked her locker and picked up her bags, walking towards the door.

"No," Laura stopped her from moving, "you are telling me everything."

Keila sighed as she put her bags down and they stood between two doors, the ones to the outdoors and the other one back into the hallway.

"What do you want to know?" She asked as she stood and watched the hall.

"About that," She said as she pointed at her wrist.

"Oh, well at the top it's getting better, but at the bottom, it just has another bruise on it." She said as she took her cast off.

"Yeah, and why?" Laura said as she stared at her bruise.

Keila whispered her answer and Laura smiled. She put a hand on her arm.

"I won't tell, but I'm glad you're finally telling me," She said as she let go.

"Uh girls, shouldn't you be going home?" Mr. Reiter said as he walked through, since he headed out this way, and his class was there.

"Yeah, I guess, bye," Keila said as she rushed off. "Bye guys."

Mr. Reiter stared at Laura, who stared back.

"You know too don't you?" Mr. Reiter asked.

"I do, and I'm worried," Laura confessed.

"Because...." Mr. Reiter asked as he zipped up his coat.

"Because," Was Laura's answer, before she left.
