Chapter 10
Mr. Reiter POV
I watched as Keila walked into my classroom, she didn't look at me, didn't talk, she just ducked her head and walked in. The other kids who were already in there stared at her as she walked in, like they had when she'd come to school.
She walked to her desk and sat in her chair and started to chat with the boys sitting around her, as I had placed her around some noisy boys.
Soon, the bell rang, and I realized I'd been staring at Keila instead of greeting the students, but I knew they didn't mind. I closed the door and started my lesson, but I couldn't help but always be looking in Keila's direction.
I knew she hated being stared at, being worried about, and she liked it when people looked at her the same as they would if she wasn't hurt or anything. I could see many people always making way for her, all that, and she seemed to dislike it.

"Keila, can I talk with you?" I said as I watched her come to the door.
She looked at me and put her things down on an empty desk and stood in front of me. Everyone else had left and now it was just us.
"Is it doing any better?" I asked as I pointed at her arm, folding my hands.
"I told you, it's fine, just a brace on a few fingers and a cast, does it really matter?" She said unhappily.
I knew something was bothering her, and I heard the strain in her voice to try and stay happy. I put my hands together on my desk and fidgeted with a paper clipper. I watched as she used her right arm to pull down her sleeve over the cast.
"When will you be playing again?" I asked as I watched the clock in my room tick.
"Soon, by our first game probably," She said as she looked me in the eyes.
"Why don't you eat your lunch here, we can talk okay?" I said as I put down the paper clipper.
"Sure, but you won't be missing your lunch?" She asked me as she put her arms behind her back.
"Nope, I'll eat here, so go, put your stuff away and come back," I said shooing her out.
I watched as she slung her backpack over her shoulder and picked up her laptop case and zipper binder with her. She left the class and in a matter of minutes, she was back.
"Why am I doing this?" She asked as She set her lunch bag down.
"Because," I said as I took my own lunch bag out. "I want to talk with you and get to know you."
We talked on, I could tell that she was uncomfortable, but I went on with it. Then I looked at the clock in the room, 1:00 pm. They could go outside now.
"Keila why don't you go outside now, I'll meet you out there, I'm on supervision duty anyways," I said as I put my lunch away and watched as she stood.
"Thanks, I guess I'll see you out there." She said as she left.
I realized that she had finished her lunch in about the first 5 or 10 minutes, I realized that she ate so little, could it have just been today or every other day I wondered, I didn't know, but I decided it wasn't too important.
I walked out, taking my jacket along with me and my keys. I shut the door and went outside, I looked around for Keila and spotted her quickly.
She was chasing a boy, angrily. She wasn't the only one, it was her and two other boys, and when I realized it, she was chasing another boy. There were three girls watching them run in circles, but I could see the determination on her face, she wanted to get those boys, and just by the looks of it, she couldn't stand them another second.
"Sean! Jake! Get over here!" One of the boys said as they chased them.
I was able to hear them, as I was standing there close by. I watched as Keila stopped and took a few slow breathes in, but soon, I watched as she started to breathe in fast, I wondered why I'd have to ask her about that later.
Soon, I watched as she and five others walked with her, leaving Jake and Sean behind. They went to the wall and none of them were smiling. I watched from the steps as the chatted, but as Sean and Jake approached, Keila immediately moved away, and headed towards me.
