The Weeping Willow Tree

A/N Just so you know none of this is true. Most people would know this but for that .5% who don't, this isn't true. If somebody else wrote something similar to this before me, then just know that I didn't copy them. Thanks!

I've heard it said that the Weeping Willow is a sign of sadness, but what many people don't know is that it is also a sign of love and loss.

Weeping Willows are grown next to each other. They share everything: air, water, sunlight, they share it all. The extra nutrients make hem lively and joyful looking trees. Their branches are strong and upright. The leaves are a bright, vibrant green. The presence of the other Willow, their 'soul mate' gives them life.

But the time comes when one of the trees dies. It slowly drifts away until it is no more. When this happens, the tree that was left behind deteriorates. The loss of its companion hurts it, it loses the extra nutrients, it loses its soul mate. Its bright leaves become dull, its branches droop, as if weeping for its lost love. It lives on, a symbol of love, a symbol of sadness, a symbol of suffering. It lives on as the one that was left behind.
