Chapter 29 - Where Gods Walk the Skies

3rd Person
This planet is the key.
Your power lies here.
Soon you'll see.
The void is near.
Anakin POV
'Are you the one?' a voice called.
"What the-what?" I sputtered. "Did you hear that?"
The whisper was so soft, I second-guessed myself on whether or not I'd even heard it.
"I didn't hear anything." Obi-wan answered, removing his binocs.
"Me neither." (y/n) corroborated.
"Are you the one?" the voice repeated.
This time, I turned around to see a woman.
A very tall woman.
"He-lloo..." Obi-wan smiled, his hand going to his beard.
"Who are you?" I inquired cautiously.
Though she seemed human, the woman was more mystical and mirage-like than anything, though that already extended to the rest of the planet.
She had long, emerald hair that cascaded down her back like a green waterfall, along with pale, white skin that literally glowed.
"I am Daughter... are you the one?" she answered, thereafter repeating her question.
"Uh, the one what?" I finally answered, utterly confused.
"I will take you to him." the Daughter insisted.
Her train of thought was about as well-maintenanced as the Twilight.
"Him who?" Ahsoka questioned, mimicking my sassy energy.
"Did you bring us here?" Obi-wan asked, more politely than I or Snips.
"Only he can help you... there is little time, follow me. We must have shelter by nightfall." the Daughter pressed urgently, turning around with the intention of us following.
"He who?" (y/n) called after her, failing to get an answer.
"Worth a try." Ahsoka stated, patting her friend on the back.
"And we thought the planet was strange, how about this one?" I laughed.
"We'll be fine, as long as we stay together." Obi-wan assured the three of us.
Accepting the bizarre nature of our circumstances, we set out to tail this... Daughter, until we could meet him.
Later, we found ourselves hiking alongside a cliff.
"Have you noticed the seasons seem to change with the time of day?" Obi-wan muttered quietly.
"Yeah." I agreed, having noticed the exact same thing.
The foliage around us had already turned a fall-maroon, when only hours before it had been a lively summer-green.
Wait... had it been hours?
"And there are no animals..." Ahsoka pointed out as well.
"No sun either, and the stars show during the day." (y/n) observed.
"And you sense it...?" Obi-wan asked, hinting at something.
"Mhm, since we arrived. The force is... very strong." I stated.
"An intersection unlike anything I've ever felt before. Be wary." Obi-wan warned, his voice hushed.
"S'cuse me, who are you taking us to?" I questioned suddenly, speaking up.
"The father of course." the Daughter responded frankly.
"Of course." Ahsoka echoed sarcastically.
"And... what exactly are you?" Obi-wan asked.
"We are the ones who guard the power. We are the middle, the beginning, and the end." the Daughter answered cryptically.
"Glad she cleared that up for us." I chuckled, slightly miffed at her strange responses.
"The beginning..." (y/n) muttered, only to himself.
As we furthered our journey along the mountain, the foliage became redder and redder, until the cliff face became stained blood-red with a scarlet moss.
...
Danger!
"Hey... look out!" I shouted, seeing a dislodged spire of rock plummeting toward the Daughter.
Reacting out of pure instinct, I dove forward, pushing the Daughter out of the impact zone.
"It is forbidden for you to touch me!" the Daughter growled, angered.
"So-rry, I was just saving your life." I shot back, but I didn't expect her to understand my sarcasm.
"That was my brother's work...!" she stated, her tone now cautious and hesitant. "You are in great danger. Wait for me, do not leave this place."
With that, she walked away, intending to leave me behind.
"Hey... wait!" I called after her.
So difficult.
"Anakin, are you there? Are you alright?" Obi-wan checked, his voice crackling from my wrist communicator.
"Yeah, but our friend here has RUN OFF!" I yelled, ticked off. "Go back to the ship and try sending another distress call. I'll follow her and find out how to get off this rock."
"And if this is a trap?" Obi-wan questioned, concerned.
"Then I'm not gonna wait around to find out!" I insisted, eager to put an end to this weird, creepy adventure.
"Anakin stop. Wait for us to find another way around and meet you. ...Anakin?!" Obi-wan ordered, but I had no intention of listening.
After shutting off the communicator, I prepared to stealthily tail the Daughter from afar.
"Sorry master, but you know me." I muttered to myself.
(y/n) POV
"So reckless and impatient." Master Kenobi complained, failing to get through to Anakin.
"He'll find her." Ahsoka proclaimed, trusting in her mentor.
"Yes, and what else?" Master Kenobi murmured.
"Crack!"
As if on cue, I heard lightning strike from far away.
Dark clouds seeped through cracks in the horizon, spreading across the sky's basin.
"Storm's coming." Ahsoka stated.
"You think?" I responded, earning a "ha-ha" look from her, and a "I was thinking the same thing" look from Master Kenobi.
By the time we made it back to the shuttle, the once evergreen plant life was unrecognizable.
It was now dark-red, no, it was now even darker.
And up in the sky...
Nightfall.
"The ship's gone!" Ahsoka gasped in disbelief.
"Yes, I see that." Master Kenobi stated.
Indeed, Ahsoka was correct. Where our republic shuttle had once been, there was nothing.
I couldn't help but wonder if it had simply disintegrated, withered away like everything else seemed to here.
"It was here, no question." Ahsoka fretted, shaking her head. "And look, everything's dying."
Ahsoka was right about that too, but I'd already caught on long ago.
Right before my eyes, I watched as a shrub shriveled up and decayed in mere seconds.
In no time at all, the clearing was a black, barren landscape, devoid of any life.
"Did you lose something?" an ominous voice inquired, sending the alarm bells blaring in our heads.
"Psshew!"
"Psshew!"
Ahsoka and I ignited our sabers in unison.
Master Kenobi was more cautious.
The source of the voice was a tall humanoid, similar to the Daughter.
This one was male, and he was... levitating. Everything I knew about the force was being challenged every second I spent on this planet.
The sinister, tall figure floated down to the ground, touching down onto the corruption.
"You didn't do as you were asked." the man accused angrily.
His eyes were merely black pools, with luminescent, red pupils floating on the surface.
As red as a Sith's scarlet blade.
"And what was that?" Master Kenobi finally asked.
"My sister said to wait!" the man murmured.
"Did she, now? Well, we were unfortunately separated." Master Kenobi answered honestly, seasoning his remarks with his usual sass. "We'd like our ship back, if you don't mind."
"Not...! ...Yet!" the man denied, moving dangerously close to Master Kenobi. "Is it true that he is the chosen one?"
"Psshew!"
"Pssshew!"
With the stranger's increased hostility, Master Kenobi finally activated his blue blade, with Ahsoka calling upon her shorter, lime-green saber.
"What do you know of such things?" Master Kenobi questioned cautiously.
"What is about to happen, shall occur... whether you like it, or not!" he declared with passion, chopping his hand downward.
As he brought down his hand, all four of our lightsabers were unceremoniously shut down.
Impossible.
"You are sith!" Master Kenobi accused, pointing at the man cloaked in darkness.
"Sith...? Yes!" he agreed, laughing maniacally. "...And no."
"Let me guess, you're Brother, no, you're the Son?" I guessed, name dropping the dangerous weirdo.
The Son glared at me for only a second, then I exited his vision.
Suddenly, the pitter patter of rain started to drip down from the stars.
"Crack! Crack! Boom!"
The lightning began pelting the ground in swathes.
"The storms here are quite lethal. If you want to live, I suggest you find shelter." the Son advised, strangely sympathetic.
Then, he broke out into a run, like a starfighter beginning its liftoff sequence...
My simile wasn't too far from the truth, considering that the Son, er... promptly transformed into a bat-like monster, flying up into the storm with his wicked wings.
"What... in the universe was that?!" Ahsoka exclaimed in shock.
"I'm not quite sure." Master Kenobi responded, taken aback.
Master Kenobi always seemed pretty nonchalant about every hiccup he experienced during assignments. He was used to dealing with Anakin after all.
But here, even he seemed out of his element.
"Mortis gods..." I mouthed, realizing what I'd said after I said it. "Mortis gods... are we on Mortis?"
"Crack! Boom! Crack!"
The vicious lightning strikes had finally found us.
"Quick. There's a cave over there." Master Kenobi observed, scoping out the shelter the Son had advised we seek.
Anakin POV
"Crack!"
The lightning smited the landscape as I dashed up a hill.
Undeterred by the danger, I temporarily dove into a shallow cave to catch my breath.
Visible from the outcropping was the looming stature of a tall structure in the distance.
At its peak, a massive gemstone, glowing through the chaotic night.
A beacon, beckoning me to its light.
"Whoever I'm looking for, is in that monastery." I declared to myself.
When I finally made it to the colossal, ancient-looking building, I set a course for the topmost chamber.
Immediately, I found myself stepping across a wide walkway, an eerie mist below the bridge.
At the center of the chamber, a large, slim, elderly man sat meditating in front of some sort of altar.
His tall, skinny hat reminded me of Master Mundi's head, and his long beard was far more well-trimmed than Master Rancisis's had been... rest in peace.
Wanting to be in the old man's good graces, I sat down to meditate with him.
"Welcome, my friend." he greeted, opening his eyes.
"What is it you want from me?" I asked, cutting to the chase.
"To learn the truth about who you really are... one that maybe you have known all along... one that you must believe, in order to fulfill your destiny." he answered, standing up.
"Enough with the riddles, old man. Tell me what's going on here." I demanded.
"As you can see, there is... nowhere else to go. It is late, you will be my... guest tonight." the man, presumably the Father, declared, to my dismay.
Obi-wan POV
Restless from worrying about Anakin, I increasingly felt like Ahsoka, (y/n), and I were not alone within the crystal-decorated cavern we'd holed up in.
'Obi-wan, have you done as I asked? Have you trained the boy?' a voice called out suddenly.
I saw the translucent ghost of my old master Qui-gon, standing before me within the crystal cave.
Impossible. It must have been a vision... an illusion.
"Psshew!"
I activated my weapon.
"Master Qui-gon?! How are you here?" I demanded, weary of the planet's tricks.
"I am here because you are here." he answered, as cryptic as the strange people we'd met.
"I.. I don't understand! What is this place?" I asked, giving up the interrogation. At the very least, I could uncover some answers from the apparition.
"Unlike any other, a conduit through which the entire force of the universe flows." Qui-gon answered, his ghostly figure walking around.
"Are we in danger?" I pressed further.
"This planet is both an amplifier, and a magnet. Three are here who seek Skywalker." Qui-gon continued. "They, like me, believe him to be the chosen one."
"Ssshhhk."
I deactivated my weapon.
"You were right. The force within him is stronger than any known Jedi." I admitted, giving credence to Anakin's unbelievable potential. "I've trained him as well as I could, but... he's still willful, and balance eludes him."
"If he is the chosen one, he will discover it here." Qui-gon proclaimed.
"And, if not?" I pried.
"Then you must realize with his power, this is a very dangerous place for him to be." the ghostly Jedi warned.
I turned back to where Qui-gon's likeness had been standing, but there was nothing there.
As quick as he'd arrived, he'd vanished.
Anakin POV
"Wake up, my son. I must tell you a secret." a voice called out amongst the cracks of lightning.
I felt a hand brush over my hair.
"Who's there? Who's there, I said!!" I demanded angrily, sitting up in my bed.
I whipped around, to see...
"It is me, Ani... your mother!" Shmi Skywalker stated, standing over me.
I rolled off the bed.
"What kind of black arts is this?" I snarled. "You're........ dead...!"
"Nothing ever really dies, my son." my mother insisted. "I have a secret to tell you."
"Then tell me." I ordered, still cautious.
"Everything you have done, everything you have learned, has led you here..." she declared.
"Whatever you are, my mother is......... is dead." I stated again, the words poison on my tongue. Still, they were... unfortunately true. This... thing was not my mother.
"And you blame yourself, your Jedi training has served you well, Ani... but you are more than a Jedi." she stated, hinting at something more. "Tell me, where is your pain? So I might take it away?"
"I was... too late to save you. I failed as a Jedi, and I failed you!" I rued, cursing myself for being too weak.
"How so?" she pressed, putting her hand to my cheek.
I pushed her away, but with less vigor this time.
I wanted her to be there, to be real.
"I tasted only vengeance when I slaughtered so many to avenge your death." I confessed, invoking the painful memory of when I slaughtered the village of sand people.
"It is time you realize that your guilt does not define you, my son! You define your guilt!" my mother advised, attempting to encourage me.
"The only love I feel in my heart, is haunted by what would happen should I let go." I confessed to her, accepting her loving hand on my shoulder.
"Then it is not love, it is a prison." she declared.
"But I... I have a wife! You've met her, she's everything to me." I told her.
"She's not your destiny." my mother scolded, denying me.
"But I love her!" I declared.
"NO! She is a poisoner!" she shrieked, her voice descending into a low-pitched howl.
"What are you?!" I demanded, backing away from the phantom menace.
"Your... fate!" the phantom proclaimed, morphing back and forth between my mother and a winged monster.
"Crack!"
Then, inexplicably, the phantom was gone with a flash of lightning.
Ahsoka POV
First, I was laying next to (y/n), trying to get some shut eye.
Then, I heard the voice.
"Are you... happy, child?"
My eyes snapped open.
I did a quick survey of the cave.
Master Kenobi... still asleep.
(y/n)... still asleep next to me.
The crystals glowed an eerie blue, reminding me of Ilum.
The campfire we'd set up was still providing warmth.
Everything seemed in order...
"Your master, does he treat you well?" the voice asked.
...!
There was a fourth within the cave.
Next to the campfire.
An adult Togruta woman.
"What concern of it is yours?" I questioned, my hand shooting to my lightsabers.
"I am your future... your potential." the woman stated.
She did bear a resemblance to me.
"Psshew!"
"Psshew!"
I ignited my main saber, as well as my shoto.
"This is a trick." I declared, declining her assertion.
"There is a wildness to you, young one... seeds of the dark side planted by your master. Do you feel it?" my future warned.
"No! He is like no other Jedi. Passionate, impulsive, but I trust him with my life." I insisted, refusing to believe her.
"There are many contradictions in you, and in him." my future furthered, her brow furrowing.
The campfire's warm glow bounced off the irises of my eyes.
"Be warned, you may never see your future if you remain his student! Leave this planet." my future continued, her tone growing more desperate.
With her final warning, my future dissapated into a pillar of fire.
Left alone, I considered her words one more time.
"I will see my future." I stated, resolute. "Whatever the price."
My eyes snapped open.
This time, for real.
"Ahsoka...?" Master Kenobi voiced, concerned.
"I had a vision." I professed. "I think Anakin may be in trouble."

(y/n) POV
One moment, I was sitting against the wall of the crystal cavern, next to Ahsoka.
As the doors to my eyes became heavier, they gradually closed shut.
"Crack!"
A vicious bolt of lightning struck outside the cave.
And then, he was standing in front of me.
A stranger, cloaked in a weathered gray that was tattered at the ends.
Where the gray mantle diverged at his chest, a faint glow from some sort of armor was visible... a chest piece, pulsating with indigo light.
"Stay in the middle of the path." the stranger urged, his face obscured.
His voice sounded entirely synthetic.
"Path? What path? Show yourself!" I demanded, my hand darting to my saber hilt.
"Continue as you are now, and you'll find me." he stated, pointing directly at me.
It was then that I noticed the somewhat familiar gauntlets the cloaked stranger wore.
Briefly analyzing my own vambraces, I confirmed the similarity, but only in their shape.
Whereas mine were brand new, the mystery man's gauntlets were ancient, timeworn... like they'd been sandblasted for millenia.
"Find you...? But you're right in front of me." I pointed out.
"After you've left this planet, you'll know what it is you have to do." the stranger affirmed.
"Do what? For what?" I questioned.
The stranger wasn't making any sense.
"The path...!" the stranger repeated harshly, then his tone went somber. "Focus... nothing else matters."
"Who are you!? Show yourself!" I demanded once more, grabbing my saber.
After a tense silence, the stranger obliged, removing his hood to reveal...
An infinite void.
Images and pictures blurred together, and then, inexplicably...
I was in the Jedi temple on Coruscant.
The grand halls were empty, and the smell...
The suffocating stench of burning flesh was in the air, accompanied by a hazy veil of smoke that permeated throughout the temple.
"Tap."
"Tap."
"Tap."
Wandering aimlessly through the familiar halls, I tried to make sense of my situation.
"Hello?! Is any-one there?!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, accidentally choking on the smoke.
...
My foot caught onto something on the floor, and I nearly tripped.
Then, when I looked down to see what I had tripped on, I realized...
The grand halls weren't empty.
Bodies.
Bodies everywhere.
Each time I identified one of the corpses, my heart fell further into the abyss.
Ahsoka... dead.
My master... dead.
Master Sinube... dead.
Barriss... dead.
Master Shaak Ti... dead.
Master Allie... dead.
So many others.
"Tap."
"Tap."
"Tap."
The footsteps of another sent me into a panic.
A shadowy figure... walking toward me.
When the sillhouetted figure finally became visible, I instantly recognized him.
"Anakin?" I called out, unsure.
"(y/n)... you're alive!" Anakin exclaimed, relieved.
"Who... who did this?!" I asked, my voice morphing into a growl.
As if on cue, I heard an ominous, distinct sound echo throughout the halls.
A low-pitched, synthetic breathing... over and over.
"Him." Anakin declared, his eyes widening in terror. "There's no time, we have to get out of here before he finds us."
Despite my anger, my rage... I felt my hands began to shake as the synthesized breathing grew closer.
Nodding to Anakin, I broke into a run alongside him.
The arched doorway that led to the temple steps wasn't far.
As we neared the exit, my vision began to blur once more.
After leaping down the temple steps, I had to put on the brakes so as to not fall into the pool of lava that materialized directly in front of me.
Just like that, we were no longer on Coruscant.
Rather, Anakin and I had been transported to a hellish terrain of flowing lava and volcanic rock.
"What... what was that?!" I sputtered, petrified and perplexed.
"Don't think about it, keep running!" Anakin barked, leaping over the puddle of magma without a second thought.
I followed his lead, clearing the death trap in a similar fashion.
Then, we kept running, as Anakin said.
Or... I did.
"Come on!" I shouted back at the Jedi Knight, who had frozen in place like solidified magma.
"I... I can't move, (y/n)." Anakin revealed, frightened.
He'd been immobilized by an invisible force.
Then, the force yanked him out of sight, dragging him down the steep slope that led to the lava lake.
"Anakin!" I cried out desperately, running back for him.
His bonechilling screams persisted, but... when I finally looked over the slope into the lava, Anakin was gone.
And then...
Something began rising out of the melted rock.
First, a helmet, black as obsidian...
AndI heard it again...
That sinister, mechanical breathing.
I shivered.
As the dark assailant stood up, out of the lava, their tall, towering stature became apparent.
"Pssshhew!"
The Sith Lord ignited their crimson lightsaber, and I whipped around, dashing away as fast as possible.
The cold, all-consuming fear that had come over me intensified with every step.
I looked back over my shoulder, stealing a glance at the dark invader as they chased me.
Suddenly, my vision flashed red as I experienced two stabbing pains in my gut.
...
I hadn't even seen the pair of red lightsabers before I ran right into them, skewering myself.
....
I woke up in a cold sweat.
Finally, I was back in the crystal cave.
"(y/n)?" Ahsoka murmered, concerned.
She and Master Kenobi were each peering down at me.
"I had a vision!" I exclaimed, slurring my words through my excitement. "I... I had a vision! ...I don't know what any of it means."
Anakin POV
"Psshew!"
My blue lightsaber flared to life in the dead of night.
Soon, its tip was centimeters away from the Father's nose.
"Cannot sleep?" the Father inquired, his eyes closed. "To strike an unarmed man is hardly the Jedi way."
"You're a Sith Lord!" I accused.
"You have a very simple view of the universe. I am neither sith nor Jedi. I am much more... And so are you." the Father responded cryptically.
"I see through your spells and visions, old man. Tell me what is going on here." I demanded, done with the riddles and nonanswers.
What came next, I could've never predicted.
"Kssshhhhhhhhhh!"
The Father grabbed my lightsaber.
Not the hilt, the blade.
"Some call us force-wielders." the Father elucidated, lifting the pure energy up with his bare hands.
"Shhhhhhk!"
With but a wave of his hand, the Father sent the plasma blade running back into its hilt.
"The Jedi have never spoken of this." I revealed, awestruck.
"Mm. Few still know of our existence." the Father commented.
"In that room, my mother came to me, but it was not her! It was something else." I spat, pointing to the hallway I'd come from.
"Ah. My son, I suspect." the Father explained, stroking his beard. "We can take many forms. The shapes we embody are merely a reflection of the life force around us. You carry a great sadness in your heart. My children and I can manipulate the force like no other, therefore, it was necessary to withdraw from the temporal world and live here as anchorites."
"As a sanctuary?" I inquired, stepping in front of the altar of balance the Father had been meditating on.
"And a prison." the Father added. "You cannot imagine what pain it is to have such love for your children... and realize that they could tear the very fabric of our universe."
"I don't... understand." I admitted, realizing my confusion might be getting tiring for the old man.
I still needed answers.
"It is only here that I can control them... A family in balance. The light and the dark. Day with night. Destruction replaced by creation." the Father elucidated, but it still sounded like a bunch of bantha poodoo to me.
"Then why reveal yourselves to us?" I questioned.
"There are some who would like to exploit our power. The Sith... are but one. Too much dark or light would be the undoing of life as you understand it. When news reached me that the chosen one had been found, I needed to see for myself." the Father revealed, finally getting to the point.
"The chosen one is a myth." I spat.
"Is it? I should very much like to know..." the Father smiled, excited. "Why don't we find out together? Pass one test, and I shall know the truth. Then, you and your friends... may leave."
(y/n) POV
Once the dawn came upon us, the mysterious realm, possibly Mortis, began reverting to its original state.
As the barren landscape was bathed in light, grasses and flowers sprouted from the blackened ground almost instantaneously.
The dead, ghostly trees were suddenly given new life.
It was as if the planet had set back its clocks, rewinding the corruption.
"The longer we stay here, the stranger this place gets." Ahsoka commented, watching the miraculous wonder unfold before her eyes.
"It appears the planet is renewing herself." Master Kenobi noted.
"Hm... odd way of putting it." I chuckled under my breath.
"What about Master Skywalker?" Ahsoka inquired suddenly, anxious.
Her question was directed solely at Master Kenobi, not me.
Not that I didn't understand it, Kenobi was the voice of authority here, being a seasoned Jedi Master.
Still, I was beginning to feel useless again... an extraneous bolt that wasn't needed for the machine.
"Anakin will not be easy to deceive." Master Kenobi asserted, confident in his former pupil.
...
While crossing through a field, a pair of shadows fell over us without warning.
"Caaaawww!"
"Harrraahhn!"
Twin, animalistic cries assaulted my ears simultaneously.
In the blink of an eye, Ahsoka and Master Kenobi were snatched by two winged creatures.
As the flying beasts soared away with my allies, my brain began processing.
Panic set in.
Squinting at the winged beasts of black and white, I focused on the darker one.
Those wicked, webbed wings...
The mane of dark-gray hair on his chest...
The Son.
https://youtu.be/2ncK3sQV1OQ
Ahsoka POV
The bat thing's talons were less than comfortable, especially with the violent gusts of air pricking my face and montrals.
But... if the Son and the Daughter had intended to kill us, I'm sure we would have already been crushed in their talons.
They seemed to be carrying us toward the towering monestary in the distance.
The great white crystal atop the the structure's spire eminated a dim glow that lasted for kilometers. For a moment, I considered whether or not that crystal was the planet's sole light source.
"Ahsoka!" Master Kenobi yelled over the rush of wind. "I'm not sure where they're taking us, but, ignoring that, do you think (y/n) will be alright by himself?"
Of course...! How could I have forgotten?!
(y/n) was in danger! He...
Before I even had the chance to respond, something below us grabbed my attention.
"Why don't you see for yourself?" I suggested, nodding my head toward the ground.
Master Kenobi quickly sighted it too...
A trail of dust, streaking across the land with a vengeance.
And there weren't any animals here... let alone any that fast.
"Oh, right." Master Kenobi acknowledged, impressed. "I forgot he could do that."
(y/n) POV
After hurdling over a colossal stone, I jetted forward with lightning speed.
With my eyes glued to the sky, I continued the pursuit.
They were so high up in the air, I could barely see...
But... Ahsoka and Master Kenobi seemed to be alive still, at the very least.
'I'm always chasing after them.' I lamented briefly, flipping through a tree's branches to scale a cliff face.
As the chase took me closer and closer to the moneastary, the crystal at its zenith grew ever brighter.
When a sudden flash of light blinded me momentarily, I could have sworn I saw the Son transform...
Into Grievous, soaring through the heavens on the back of a vulture droid.
...
A figment of my imagination.
Nevertheless, this time... I would catch him.
Finally, I spotted it...
My golden opportunity.
A vein of levitating rocks and boulders, forming a chain of mountains that rose high above the clouds, like a miniaturized asteroid belt.
"I have you now!" I shouted to myself, gripping my saber hilt.
"Pssshhew!"
The jaded, jade lightsaber reluctantly ignited.
Lightsaber Form IV, Ataru: Jetstream.
With that, I initiated an agressive approach up the arc of debris, my feet fluttering over the masses of stone with a sullied grace.
I climbed higher and higher, battling the fatigue as it built up within my legs.
Higher, and higher.
Closer, and closer!
I saw the Son... meters away from me.
I saw Ahsoka's disbelieving eyes, as wide as twenty kilogram weight plates...
I leapt with no hesitation.
And...
The soles of my boots contacted the Son's back.
"HAAAarraahhh?!"
The Son, entombed in his gargoyle form, let out a roar of bewilderment.
"nnnnnnnnnn."
Still overwhelmed by the pounding of blood, circulating throughout my body, I brought the tip of my saber down onto the gargoyle's spine with incredible strength.
"KSSSSHHHH!"
...
The deadly, green blade of superheated plasma... simply bounced off the Son's hide.
...
"What the hell!" I screamed, enraged.
When the Son tried to shake me off, I was left hanging on for dear life.
It seemed I was merely along for the ride now.
Anakin POV
After I reluctantly agreed to his test, the Father led me to one of the monestary's extended balconies... a circular arena.
The divine colloseum was decorated with various celestial illustrations.
A wolf, a snake, a bird...
And, the arena floor was inscribed with a circular symbol of black and white.
Whatever test the old man had prepared, nothing here sat right with me.
'I've got a bad feeling about this.' I thought privately.
"It is time to face your guilt, and know the truth." the Father declared cryptically, gesturing toward me.
"Caawwwww!"
"Harahhhn!"
With the Father's forboding words, came two animalistic cries overhead.
Then, two beasts came into view, one, a griffin; the other, a gargoyle.
And in their claws...
Obi-wan?!
Ahsoka?!
'What!?' I sputtered internally, enraged.
The Son's gargoyle, Ahsoka in his clutches, touched down to black section of the colloseum. Meanwhile, the Daughter's griffin landed on a white patch directly across from her brother.
I was in the middle.
Suddenly noticing an extremity on his Son's back, the Father promptly flicked his wrist, flinging the unlucky (y/n) away to the other side of the arena.
Poor (y/n), I hadn't even seen him there.
"Whatever he wants, don't do it master!" Ahsoka urged, the Son flapping his wing's menacingly as he held her arm.
"Let them go, I will NOT play your games!" I spat at the Father.
"Oh, but I think you will!" the Father refuted, resolute. "I have ordered my children to kill your friends. The question is... "
The Father vanished.
'Wha-?' I mouthed, distrusting my eyes.
"Which one will you choose to save?" the Father continued, having reappeared on the stage above. "Your master, or your apprentice? You must now release the guilt, and free yourself by choosing!"
"NO!" I shouted defiantly, for such a choice was unimaginable.
"Their powers are too strong for us, Anakin! Save Ahsoka!" Obi-wan ordered, staying calm even as he was trapped in the Daughter's sharp talons.
Over on the other side, Ahsoka began wailing in agony as the Son began crushing her arm.
"Let... them... go." I muttered, glaring into the Father's eyes with a fearsome malice.
"Only you can make my children release them!" the Father advised, sounding genuine.
I then closed my eyes, demoralized by the unthinkable scenario, paralyzed by inaction.
I felt the force wrap around me, wash over me as if I was submerged in a warm sea.
I felt it anchor me to the planet.
The Force was stronger here than anywhere else I'd been.
And then, I heard Obi-wan's voice within the darkness.
"Anakin! The planet is the force, use it!" he urged.
I opened my eyes.
"You WILL let them go!" I commanded, unleashing the full might of the force upon the Son and the Daughter.
The force pulls I conjured were so powerful, a shockwave materialized in the air, with me at the epicenter.
The twin beasts resisted my influence, roaring in refusal, but their defiance was in vain. Bit by bit, I lifted the Son and the Daughter off the ground.
As the siblings struggled against my might, so was the planet thrown into chaos.
Day became night, then day again, and then night again.
The starlight up above intensified into a brilliance, accompanied by the clap of thunder.
Even the arena floor lit up, a reflection of the stars.
Finally, I freed Obi-wan and Ahsoka, and they dropped to the floor.
With the rescue completed, I directed my full attention to the beasts, sending them crashing into the walls.
"Cawwwww!"
"Haraahhn!"
Undeterred, the winged creatures of black and white rose again, flying toward Ahsoka and Obi-wan respectively.
"Pssshhew!"
"Pssshheww!"
My master and apprentice activated their weapons in self-defense, but it wasn't even necessary.
"Down!" I ordered, immoblizing them again with the force. "On your knees!"
As I ripped them back down to earth, I set them kneeling before me, returning them to their humanoid forms.

(y/n) POV
Standing in awe at Anakin Skywalker's incredible feat of power, I failed to realize when the Father released me from his invisible shackles.
"My apologies, but I could not let you interfere." he stated, nodding at me before making his way toward the newly-crowned chosen one.
"And now you see who you truly are." the Father announced proudly. "Only the chosen one could tame both my children."
"I have taken your test. Now fulfill your promise and let us go." Anakin snarled, discontent with the treatment of his friends.
"Ah, but first you must understand the truth." the Father declared, turning toward the rest of us, including his children. "Now all of you, leave us."
"Do not trust him." Ahsoka whispered to her master.
"You think?" Anakin muttered sarcastically.
"I said leave us." the Father repeated, his tone more foreboding.
Unable to do anything but comply, we did as he asked, leaving Anakin and the Father to talk privately.
I was still speechless.
"Hey... that was insane." Ahsoka whispered to me, nudging my shoulder.
'It certainly was.' I thought simply.
"What you did back there, I mean." Ahsoka clarified, making it clear that she was referencing my feat, not Anakin's.
Her words were lost on me.
So... this was the power of the chosen one.
This was Anakin Skywalker's infinite potential.
For a moment, I forgot that I even existed.
