Chapter 29
Chapter 29:
Sawyer Sadie:
I laughed at something Dean said and ran a hand through my blonde hair.
"So um do you want to come back to my place and I'll drop you off afterwards?" Dean asked with a smile spreading across his features.
"Sure, it's not that far from mine anyway but I've for my car and you've got yours. Can I follow you?" I asked Dean as I lent slightly forward and my hand brushed against Deans soft skin that came from his hand.
"Yeah come on well leave now before it gets too late." Dean said, standing up and pulling his chair out as I did the same thing.
The both of us walked side by side, filing out singularly through the open door.
Dean and I split away from each other so that we could get to our cars and I pulled open my car door, jumping in.
I sat in the car and buckled up my seatbelt, searching for Deans black hair as he drove out.
Seconds later I spotted a flicker of his face and turned the keys that were sitting in the ignition.
I reversed out of the spot and sped to the speed limit after Dean who was a few metres ahead of me.
The radio blasted through the car playing All of Me by John Legend which made me start singing aloud.
"What would I do without your smart mouth
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out
Got my head spinning, no kidding, I can't pin you down
What's going on in that beautiful mind
I'm on your magical mystery ride
And I'm so dizzy, don't know what hit me, but I'll be alright."
My voice sounded pitchy and in the higher range and to sum of it all up John Legend owned the song while I didn't.
The song stopped playing and the radio started playing some adds which made me roll my eyes and sigh loudly.
I seriously hated that.
You could never get away from advertisements.
They were on TV, radio and even in movies, trying to advertise for other movies which I do admit I enjoyed watching because it gave me a sense of whet other movies I wanted to see.
I jerked to the left and was driving down a street that I didn't know the name of because I missed it in my daydream.
Dean was in front of me by miles now and his car was only just visible but it was lucky I knew where we were going anyway.
The car curved to the left again but this time into my own street and I could see the kind of houses.
Some had lights lit up through there windows while others had all the blinds shut with no cars parked out the front of the house.
Deans car pulled up out the front of a small house that was covered in grey bricks.
The surface of the grey was swished in circles and you could see some if the bits of cement stick up making the surface of what should be smooth, rough.
The roof was a cream colour while the door had swirled, white patterns covered it.
I parked behind Deans car and pushed open my door, my arm flexing as I did this to show that I had next to no muscle.
My finger pressed into the red button on the seatbelt which caused my black seatbelt to start pulling upwards, the edge of rubbing onto my stomach creating a small, rounded, red mark.
I put one foot out of the car while the other one laid scrawled.
My mouth opened ajar slightly and I put my hand over my mouth, feeling my hot breath blow on yo my warm hand.
Bringing my hand back done to my side I lent my other leg out of the car so that I was in a sitting position.
Both of my hands pushed the weight of my body up to a standing position outside the car.
Lifting my foot off the ground I pushed if back feeling a vibration sound and I could hear a loud slamming sound reach my ears.
As I trudged behind Deans walking figure you could hear clapping sounds coming from the bottom if my shoes clicking against the pavement because my feet lifted out of my shoes each time I took a step.
I stood behind Dean silently while tapping my right foot onto the pavement.
The boy in front of me knocked on the door twice before a creaking sound rang through my eyes and I was met with a woman with the same black hair as Dean.
"Dean whose the lovely lady friend?" His mum asked in a sweet tone and I laughed.
"First off I'm not lovely and I'm not his friend. He's just my annoying company." I said with the edge of my lips twitching.
"Oh alright we'll come in guys. Your father has gone out for the night by the way Dean. I'm not trying to tell you off, but you could be a little bit nicer to him every once in a while. He works hard you know." His mum put her hands on her hips as she spoke to her sin in a stern voice.
"Sorry mum. I'll try." Dean responded, walking inside the house.
I followed suit quickly after and took in my surroundings.
There was a black lounge pushed up against a white wall with a small plasma tv sitting on a mahogany, round table.
Mrs Underwood led the two if us into the kitchen where she scurried around trying to prepare us some tea.
Smiling to myself I pulled out one of the chairs with black, leather cushions out and plopped myself onto it, feeling a sinking feeling in the leather.
Must of been my extra weight put on from the dinner I ate at the little cafe earlier.
I traced tiny circles in the glass table as I stared through it at the timbered floor boards that were the colour of chocolate.
"Mummy I can't find Mr Teddy anywhere." A little girl ran into the kitchen and stood in front if the counter with her arms crossed over.
I immediately recognised her to be Deans little sister from the park.
"Oh Anthony has him. I think he stole it from your room honey. Do you want a hit chocolate before you go to bred darling?" Deans mum said sitting two blue mugs into the white kitchen bench.
Her fringe flicked into her eyes and she pulled it back behind her ear where it once was before walking around to pick her daughter up.
"Anything is naughty boy. And yes please mummy. Whose that." She asked with one if her little fingers pointing at my sitting figure.
"That's Deans new friend Sawyer." She said setting the two mugs down on the table so that they were in front of us.
Mrs Underwood placed the little girl onto the chair and I took a sip of my tea, feeling a rush of warmth file through me.
"Why does she heaps of powdery stuff on her face?" The littles girl asked as she squinted her eyes.
"It's make up and when your older I'd really suggest not using it." I said with a smile and beside me Dean laughed.
"Yeah don't use it." Dean mimicked giving me a wink and I rolled my eyes.
I took another sip if the tea before placing it down carefully again, watching as Mrs Underwood prepared the hot chocolate for her daughter.
Her messy bun bobbled up and down as she did this.
I kept watching her as she poured boiling water into a Bratz mug for the little girl.
Her pale skin glinted in the sunlight and you could see a small mole on the side of her cheek.
I could only see the corner of her eyes but they were the same blue colour as Deans which caused my lips to twitch at each side and I repressed the urge to smile because of it.
Mrs Underwood sat the hot chocolate in front of her daughter with a small smile on her face.
"Here you sweetie."
"Thank you mummy." The little girl gleamed and I took another sip of the tea.
I felt the stare of Dean from beside me and he poked me in the shoulder.
I gazed at him and raised an eyebrow as he ushered me to come outside as he stood up, walking over towards the back door.
I stood up from my seat and followed him as he unlocked the back door, standing out on the browning grass.
"What do you want?" I grumbled.
"Has someone snapped back into their bad mood?" Dean laughed lightheartedly.
I rolled my eyes at him.
"Maybe and we're still not friends." I warned.
"So you've said a million times." Dean laughed.
"Yeah yeah. No need to remind me." I said with laughter filling my voice.
"Alright do the reason I pulled you out here is because I want you to come to dinner here with my family and I on Saturday night, bring Ed." He smiled.
"Let me think about it." I said scratching my nose.
"Come on, pretty please Sawyer. If your mum wants to come she can come too." He pleaded.
"My mum won't be able to make it." I said as a matter of fact.
"What about your dad?" He asked.
"My dad is a no go." I sighed.
"Oh okay we'll you and Ed still come okay?" Dean said shaking his hair around.
I licked my lips and ran a hand through my hair that I had out up earlier and gave him a small smile.
"Fine I'll come." I grumbled.
Birds chirped in the background and the grass ruffled beneath our feet.
The air whipped me in the face and I smiled.
For once in my life I felt like my depression wasn't getting a hold of me.
