Chapter 28
Chapter 28:
Maxine Henderson:
I breathed in deeply and opened the door which revealed Lucas who was giving me a cute smile and I blushed.
"Hey Maxine you look gorgeous."
"You look good too." I smiled and Lucas wrapped his arms around me gently and I could feel my heart beat get faster and my stomach burst with butterflies.
His black hair brushed against my forehead and I could smell the chocolate scented deodorant that he always wore.
He had this weird obsession with it.
He let go of me and grabbed my hand gently, leading me out towards his white car.
"Climb aboard girly." Lucas smiled at me and his brown eyes looked into mine.
I laughed at him and jumped in the car, closing the door behind me while waiting for my new boyfriend to get in the car so I could find out where he was taking me on the date.
I heard the door slam and I looked over to see Lucas gripping the stealing wheel with a dreamy look on his face.
"Where are we going?" I asked in curiosity.
"You'll have to wait and see now won't you Maxine and who'd you leave Saffron with?" He asked me while keeping his focus on the road.
"Max and his friend Damon as well as Damon's three cousins and Damon's cousins girlfriend, so we should be set to not worry about it." I said with a smile even though he couldn't see it because his eyes were trained on the road.
He laughed and ran a hand through his hair.
"Alright I'd say she's in good hands and we are about four minutes away from the destination girly." He said in a deep, but light tone.
"Yay." I cheered, staring out the window to see a bunch of shops along the road.
There was a lolly shop, clothes shops, the markets and the movies.
We turned down a street and I could see a line of houses in the street named Murray street.
All the streets in Ettalong were named after some type of fish.
Within another minute Lucas was parking in the car park to Ettalong Bowling club.
Not the most expensive place ever but I loved that it wasn't and I knew that he knew that I'd rather this over some stupid fancy restaurant like All You Can Eat.
I think I've been there too many times to count.
I could hear the trees rustling as soon as Lucas opened his door and then that was when I felt a breeze rush through the car giving me goosebumps for a second.
I tugged my door open, leaning my feet on the concrete.
I went around the back of the car to see Lucas waiting for me in his denim jeans and the maroon shirt.
He grabbed my hand in his sending shivers through my spine when I felt his comforting touch.
My heard gained speed and I begun to feel like it was going to pop out because it was going that fast.
It was just my new boyfriend making my heart go that crazy with his cuteness.
Letting go if my hand Lucas pushed the door open, his arm flexing and I started staring at his arm, licking my lips and no I'm not kicking my lips because I want a piece of his arms, no just because they're dry.
Lucas and I walked in the door together as I looked around the place, studying the different coloured floor that had green, red, yellow, blue and red.
I lifted my head up and met eyes with a man at the reception desk who was serving two adult.
The guy smiled up at the two shoeing if his yellowing teeth that were slightly crooked.
He ran a hand through his thick mop of dark, curling hair gruffly making it stick up in places.
The two people in front of us moved away so that Lucas and I could sign us in since he was already eighteen while I remained seventeen.
Lucas handed the man his membership card which was a photo of him smiling with that cute half smile if his.
In the picture his hair drooped into his left eye as the poor boy needed a hair cut that day but nobody was open due to the fact that it was the day after Christmas; Boxing Day.
I watched as Lucas signed his name and pulled me over to the far end if the restaurant, pulling a seat out for me which caused me to blush.
"Thanks, but you didn't have to grab my seat for me." I said sitting down and glanced at my boyfriend who sat across from me at the two seated table.
"I wanted to girly."
"Get a better nickname for me Luc." I laughed and he rolled his eyes at me as he picked up the menu booklet.
His eyes scanned the page and his mouth opened slightly.
"Hmm okay what about cutie?"
"Alright I guess that could work and I'm still calling you Luc no matter how much you hate it." I winked at him which made him hit his forehead on the table because he was laughing into it.
I rolled my eyes at him and outstretched my arm, snatching the menu from his grip.
"Hey! I was still looking at that cutie."
"I'm looking at it now. You can look at it in a second Luc." I smiled evilly at him.
"Aw alright only because your my girlfriend." He said causing my cheeks to grow red and I hid them behind the menu.
My eyes scanned past the entrees and stopped once they caught sight of the Mains part.
I looked through the meals and after a couple of minutes I finally decided on the Caesar Salad and chucked the menu across to Lucas who had his hand lent against his cheek.
"Lucas it's rude to do that while in a restaurant." I said but quickly realised I sounded like my mum and covered my face using both of my hands and shook my head.
"Realised you just sounded like your mum?" He asked in a laugh and I nodded.
I released my hands from my face and stared at the red handprint on his face and rolled my eyes at it when someone coughed from beside me.
"What would you two like?"
I turned and looked to see a small lady with dyed red hair tied up in a loose bun on top of her head.
Her hand held a little notebook while the other one held a black pen.
Hmm she was a left hander.
"I'd like a Caesar salad please." I responded politely.
"And I'd like spaghetti Bolognese please." Lucas told the waitress who quickly wrote on the notebook.
"What do you guys want to drink?"
"I'd like a lemonade please."
"And I'd like a fire engine." He blushed and I raised an eyebrow.
A kids drink?
Really Lucas, really?
I resisted the urge to laugh at his drink choice and thanked the waitress as she walked off it go cater for the table next to ours in had a group of adults along with three little kids.
Once the waitress had left I sat one of my hands on the table which caused Lucas to start rubbing curdles in the top of my hand which resulted in shivers running through the end of my spine.
"Shut up about the drink. I just like the combination. Not cause it's a drink for little kids." He smiled at me, inching closer to me from across the table until his lips brushed against my cheek.
The kiss on my cheek sent tingles through my whole body and I gave my boyfriend a wife smile as he parted from my cheek.
"Alright I will shut up about it then. I wish we didn't have school tomorrow." I said with a sigh.
"Me too and will you have to find someone to take care of Saffron again?" He asked me in a serious tone.
"Yeah." I answered.
"My mum will look after her."
"Really? Thank you so much!" I shrieked a smile appearing on my face again.
"Shah people are looking at us cutie." Lucas laughed and ran a over his shirt which made some if the wrinkles that had appeared disappear.
"Here is your dinner." A waitress said sitting the two bowls in front of us with a smile plastered on her face.
"Thank you." We both said at the same time and the waitress lady with the tag name if Hydie laughed at us.
"You guys are a cute couple." She said, walking away.
I grabbed my fork from beneath the white serviette and stabbed it into a coronation in top of the salad.
Shoving it in my mouth I felt a dribble of salad dressing escape my mouth.
"Cutie you've got a little bit of sauce on your chin. Here I'll get it off you." He said leaning over the table and poking underneath her lip to wipe the salad dressing off.
He wiped his finger on the napkin that was once around the fork and smiled in a straight line at me.
"Thanks." I said back and shoved a piece of egg and lettuce in my mouth.
Ten minutes or so after that Lucas and I had finished our meals and we stood up from our chairs, meeting each other at the front of the table.
This time I was the first one to grab his hand and lead him to the receptionist desk.
"Twenty eight dollars thank you." The lady said while opening up the cash register.
I dug my hand into my white handbag and grabbed a hold of the money and handed it over to her, saying a thanks before walking out.
Once Lucas and I were standing out the front if the place he pulled me closer into him and tilted his head and begun to inch closer and closer to my lips.
My heart thumped in my chest as I moved my head forward in a tilt slightly until our ills met and we were kissing each other lovingly.
His lips felt warm against mine and gave me a city if butterflies milling around in my stomach.
Breathless, we parted away and smiled at each other just gazing in each other's eyes lovingly.
