Chapter 23
Chapter 23:
Sawyer Sadie:
-Meet me for dinner. Pretty please. You can even bring Ed ;)-
I rolled my eyes and typed back a reply.
-fine... But I'm going to see my mum first. Meet me at the coffee shop, 304 at seven o'clock?-
I shoved my phone in my pocket and grabbed my car keys from the opposite pocket in my shorts.
Since Ed wasn't around I was wearing very revealing clothes just in case someone saw me while I was out.
My shorts were tiny and my pink shirt showed my belly button in full view which usually got everyone staring at me because of it.
I have no idea why they'd stare at it though.
Sighing I jumped in the car and saw my bag of shopping for my mum on the seat next to me.
It had just about everything she asked for the last time I had visited her.
Ed was in the care of a babysitter so that I could go see my mum alone and speaking if that she was getting out in two days because the only thing wring with her was the concussion and the loss of blood which left her weak.
My dad was being arrested for abandonment of his kids and physical abuse to his wife, although since he only pushed her and slapped her he was getting out in two year.
Hopefully he could be a better dad, even if my mum kicks him out.
I dint want him out of my life completely, he's my dad after all.
I parked in the hospital car park and grabbed the plastic bag from beside me and hopped out of the car, the doors lemming behind me.
Walking towards the doors, they opened automatically and I walked through looking at all the people sitting down in the black chairs.
Some were crying while others had a child with a broken bone or a cut.
Something easily fixed.
Seeing all the upset people in the waiting area I suddenly felt guilty.
Maybe I'd been a bit selfish lately because some people had it way worse than me, at least my parents still lived and bought me food along with clothes.
We weren't poor either.
I just couldn't seem to shake off my insecurities and my depression.
Maybe it's time that I get rid of it.
Maybe Dean could help me.
I made my way to the reception desk and the young lady looked up at me with a smile showing her perfect teeth.
I rolled my eyes at the sight and smiled with falseness.
"How may I help you Miss."
"Call me Sawyer please and I'm here to see Pauline Sadie, she's my mum."
"Alright dear she should be up for visitors and do you know what room she's in?" The lady asked sweetly.
"Yes I do, thanks." I said waving goodbye to the kind lady at the reception.
The lady didn't seem to realise that my face was caked with makeup, she didn't roll her eyes or scoff when she saw what I looked like, like most people did and it surprisingly made me feel a little bit better about my pesky.
I walked into the elevator and stood there next to a tall man with red hair and light blue eyes.
His smile was turned into a frown and his burly hands were rubbing together with sweat beading off his forehead.
"Who are you here for?" I asked the guy feeling rather awkward.
"My wife, she got into a car crash something like an hour ago. What about you?" The mystery guy said staring at the ground, worry filling his features.
"My mum, she got pushed by someone and hit her head, splitting it open. She lost heaps of blood but she's fine. I'm sorry to hear about your wife by the way." I said to the guy, feeling rather compassionate today.
It was time to stop wallowing in my pity and become a better person.
Now there was no way I was dropping my looks but I wasn't going to let myself be so depressed and insecure.
Maybe, just maybe my life had gotten a turn for the better.
Maybe now my mum could pay attention to my brother and I.
"That's okay and that's good, that she's fine. Any idea how to tell a son that his mum has been in an accident while he's out at the movies with his friends." The guy said as he stepped out of the elevator as it came to am halt.
I followed suit and we both walked in the same direction of the place and I answered him.
"Can't say that's going to be easy, but just tell him that his mum just got in a car accident and that she's stable so not to worry about it and that he should come to the hospital when the movie is over, although I can't say he'll be calm about it, bit it's the best I've got, sorry."
"Thank you for your advice. You're very kind, despite your um very short clothes. I'm Seth Clive by the way." He said causing me to smile with happiness as we turned into the same room ironically.
"No problem and no I'm far from kind. I'm Sawyer Sadie by the way and are you Fox's father?"
"Yes. How do you know him?"
"School. We go to the same place. Hangs out with Trey and Harvey."
"Yeah that'd be correct. Well I best go see my wife. Bye Sawyer."
"Bye." I waved and walked over to my mothers bed and pulled up a chair next to her bed.
"Hey mum. I got you that bag if stuff you were asking for." I said holding up the bag full of stuff and I emptied it onto the bed beside her legs.
There was a bar of willy wonker chocolate, two packets of lollies, a packet of chips, some fruit and a notebook that came with a black pen.
"Thank you Sawyer. Where's Ed?" My mu asked my, her head laying in the fluff led up hospital pillow.
"A babysitter is with him because I've got to go meet someone."
"Is it a boy, is it a boy?" She asked me excitedly.
I rolled my eyes at her and blushed.
I missed my mum so much and until now I had forgotten just how much that really was.
"Yes his names Dean." I smiled.
"Ooh. I'll have to meet him someday." She said with excitement and I laughed at her.
"He's not my boyfriend mum. We only just met."
"Oh." She responded, her lips pulling into a pout.
"I missed you mum."
"I missed you too sweetie." She smiled at me and I lent my head in the bed as I heard my mum starting to snore and I laughed lightly.
She was a fast sleep alright.
I blinked and lifted my head up.
I may as we'll go meet Dean now since my mum had just fallen asleep on me.
I got up and pushed the chair be I up against the peeling wall and waved at my mum who was sleeping soundly.
I sighed and put the pile if food in the draw that was sitting beside her and trudged out the hospital to where my car was parked.
I jumped in the car and drove to Umina which was about thirty minutes from where I was.
My phone sat on my lap and from the corner of my eye I could see that it wad six thirty which gave me the exact amount of time to get to 304 without running into any traffic.
I continued driving until I pulled up in a side street slammed the car dour behind me ad I waded through the masses of people milling around the place even though it was quite late at night.
Must be people who have just stopped working or something.
I entered the little coffee shop to see Dean sitting at the far table with his eyes staring intently at the dark brown table and I snickered, making my way over to him and sat done on the leather lounge seat beside him.
"Hey." I said with a small smile.
"Well someone's in a good mood now aren't they." Dean grumbled.
"Well what's with your mood. You're usually the one that's happy here." I asked him, kind of concerned as to why he sounded so grumpy.
He sighed and looked me in the eyes.
"Sorry I'm do grumpy but my dad is frustrating." He said breathing deeply.
"How come, and so's mine."
"He didn't want me to come out so late to see you and I tried to explain that it's the only time you could come see me because you had to see your mum who was in the hospital first, but no he doesn't understand. Like come on I'm seventeen." He grumbled and I stared deeply into his eyes.
"You know that's a sign that he only wants what's best for you right? You should fix that fight you had with your dad right away. You never know what may happen In between." I sighed.
"You're opening up more there Sawyer." Dean smiled at me and I laughed.
"I guess I am, but don't think cause I just told you that, that we're friends now, got it." I told him and rolled his eyes in a snicker.
"Alright I got it and by the way you looked better when you weren't wearing so much makeup."
"Thanks, but no I don't."
"Yes you do." He protested and I smiled at him and saw the ordering lady from the corner of my eye.
"What would the lovely couple like to drink?" The waitress smiled at us and my eyes widened and I gagged.
"He's not my boyfriend. He probably wishes though."
"I do not!" He argued back with me, laughter filling his voice.
"Says the boy who winked at me and told me I was pretty." I countered back.
"Hey! It doesn't mean I wanted a piece of you." He protested.
I rolled my eyes as the waitress cleared her throat and we both looked at her blushing.
"You two clearly have chemistry. If you're not going to get ting ether now, you will be soon."
