Chapter 21
Chapter 21:
Max Henderson:
I stared at the ceiling in boredom, my eyes dropping every second but each time they did so I opened them as wide as I could to stay awake.
My hand stroked the dog that sat sleeping beside me.
I swear that dog always slept.
I started clicking my tongue out of sheer noises and the dog shifted in his position as I did this.
Not knowing what to do I sat up and got off the comforts of my bed to go watch TV in the lounge room.
Mum and dad weren't home yet so it was all good.
When I got out to the lounge room I sat on the lunge and grabbed the control that laid next to a neatly set out black cushion.
My hand reached out and grabbed a hold of it.
I pressed the seven button and the TV flickered to Home and Away where Heath was getting slapped by 'The Sniper' or just Ms Montgomery, but let's just say I much preferred calling her the Sniper.
The scene on the TV had changed to Heath storming off and onto Oscar and Evelyn.
They were twins like Maxine and I.
Speaking of Maxine I heard her girly voice fill my ears in a muffled sentence and I turned around to see her murmuring things in the ear of Saffron.
I laughed at her.
People thought we were seriously not twins because of our personality difference but here was the proof that she was indeed my twin.
Taking the opportunity I grabbed out my phone and quickly clicked into the little camera item and brought my phone over to where Maxine was standing talking to Saffron in her ear and pressed the red record button.
The screen filled with Maxine's face close up and Saffrons ear with Maxine mouth right near it.
From the close up view of my twin sister you could see her makeup particles and a tiny pimple on the far right of her chin.
I snickered and Maxine turned to look at me as I began smirking.
"Gotcha!" I yelled in excitement, ending the recording and begun to run away from my sister and trying to hide my phone from her view.
I could hear her footsteps banging behind me and I picked up the pace of my run, speeding through the blurring object in the house, laughter filling the hallway that echoed.
"Max!" I heard my sister yell at me from a few meters behind.
It would take her a lot if effort if she wanted to catch up.
Continuing to run when I suddenly stopped with my keg in mid air and the keg dropped to the ground with force, causing me to groan as pain shit through my ankle.
I rubbed the bone in circled and felt the twinning pain disappear slightly.
I was sure it was only jarred so I started running again, although slower than what I had been before and I turned to look at Maxine who was catching up to me, Saffron in her arms bouncing up and down as my sister ran at a slow pace.
I turned my head back to the front and broke out in a sprint, rushing last the kitchen, my parents bedroom and one if the bathroom.
Soon I was in the third or something hallway suddenly puffing, my chest puffing in and out with great speed.
I stood there and bent over, feeling Maxine tackle me to the ground causing me to grown from the impact I had with the floor.
"Now give me your phone do you can delete that!" She demanded.
"I don't understand why you are so angry."
"Ugh, you know why."
"I won't if you won't tell me sis." I laughed from the floor where I was getting pinned down by Maxine.
"Fine! I know you took it as proof that I'm just as weird as you."
"Say to insult your twin brother!" I growled and pushed Maxine off me, storming off into my bedroom.
The white dog ran over to me and he rubbed his head in my leg and I sat in a kneeling position, patting behind Noodles ear.
"Do you think I'm too weird even for my own twin sister Noodle, boy." I asked the dog and he barked in pleasure.
Sighing I locked my bedroom door behind means sat in my bed looking at my phone in boredom when I felt it vibrate in my hands.
There was a message on my phone and I clicked into it to see that it was Damon texting me again.
-come over?-
-sure, what time?-
I replied to his message quickly and desired to start playing rat on a jet ski.
I clicked on the first level and the screen came up with a rat on a jet ski and there was water along with a brown platform they I jumped on.
Hallway through the game my phone vibrate and I paused the game, clicking on the circled button at the bottom of the black screen.
-in twenty-
-alright I'll be there- I replied to his message within a second.
Damon and I always hung out of a weekday when we weren't busy because we both knew we'd be in high demand on the weekends and both felt bad refusing to hang out with people.
I shoved my phone back in my pocket and unlocked the door, heading out to the kitchen and the dog trailed a few footsteps behind me.
Pulled the cupboard door open and found the row that had the packets of newly bought lollies and grabbed them eagerly, throwing them onto the bench.
It's was our tradition to supply the packets of lollies each time we went over each other's house, while the other supplied the entertainment.
I closed the cupboard door and picked the dog up in my arms where he started fidgeting, scratching my bare arm with his sharp nails.
"Noodle, no." I whined to the dog.
"Come on I'm going to let you visit the outside world little buddy." I said and he barked in response.
I trudged through the kitchen, out to where the back door was and grabbed the black door, flicking the lock open.
I pulled the door with slight force and placed the dog on the chocolate coloured wood.
Shutting the door I watched as the little dog kept if the deck and run through the grass freely.
I laughed, turning around, rushing into the kitchen to grab the packets of lollies off the bench.
Before I left I checked to make sure the lollies were the ones that Damon liked and sure enough they were the Allen's red frogs, starburst smoothie chews and a packet of chocolate freckles.
I'm sure my parents wouldn't mind me stealing the lollies.
They wouldn't even realise.
"Maxine I'm leaving to go to Damon's." I called out to her and she responded with an okay.
When I got to the front door I slipped my plain black things and opened the door, locking it behind me.
I decided to walk to Damon's house since it was the street behind mine and it wouldn't take me long to get there.
As I walked I stared at the concrete footpath that I was walking along and looked up when I saw three people walk past me, all smiling and laughing.
The blonde girl met my eyes, smiling at me, showing me her dimples on either cheek.
I smiled back and continued walking.
That must have been a girl from school, but I've never seen her before, she was cute.
I finally got to Damon's house and knocked in the door four times before he answered the door, a smile covering his face.
"Hey. So what lollies you got there my friend?" Damon asked me and I held the three packets up to show him.
"Yay!" He cheered clapping his hands together and let me in the house, leading me to the lounge where his little sister, Ebony lay sleeping with earphones in her ears.
We both sat down and Damon switched the TV to sport channel.
"My cousins are here by the way."
"Oh, really, where are they?"
"They're out walking. I hope they don't get lost." He laughed.
"Well I guess we'll find out soon Enough I grinned. Now you ready to watch this game with yummy lollies?" I asked him.
"Duh, of course I am. I may not be very manly as you state, but I do have to admit that sport is good. Now how was your glamorous afternoon?"
"Glamorous, seriously Damon." I said, bursting out with laughter and my whole face went red as I laughed my head off.
"Shut up!" He grumbled and started mumbling to himself about how he needed to be more manly.
"Says the guy who is the weirdest guy ever and has a little secret about talking to dogs as though they're little babies." He laughed after he had finished mumbling to himself.
"You know you love me." I said tackling him and he hit his sisters sleeping form and her eyes snapped open.
"Look what you made me do!" He shrieked and his sister giggled beside him, Taking out her earphones.
I rolled my eyes when I heard a girly voice come from the door.
"You're so dramatic Damon." A girls voice cut in.
I turned my head around to see the blonde girl from earlier, smiling again, her dimples smiling.
"I am not!" He protested and I laughed at him as he grew slightly red.
"Now whose your attractive friend sitting beside you?" The mysterious girl asked, pulling her blonde hair behind her left ear and I blushed at her comment.
Attractive, that's a new one.
I've been called hot, cute/adorable, but never attractive.
"Zara, this is Max Henderson, Max meet Zara Pollard, my cousin."
"Hi Zara." I smiled at her.
"Hi Max, I see we meet again." She laughed.
