Chapter 14
Chapter 14:
Ellie Roger:
My eyes snapped open at the ringing of my phone and I blinked my eyes multiple times.
Who would call at this time?
I reached over to grab my phone as I sat up in bed.
"Hello?" I answered the phone, not bothering to check the caller ID as I was too tired.
"You sound sleepy. Did I wake you up?" Said a males voice.
"Yeah you did." I answered groggily.
"Sorry bub I didn't mean to wake you up." Alex asked me with loud noises going off in the background.
I ran a hand through my messy, black bed hair and laughed as quietly as possible, knowing that my mum and dad would be asleep in the room beside mine.
"It's okay. How's the party?" I asked him, curious as to how much fun he was having.
"It's good and don't worry I'm not drunk." Alex said in joking tone.
"Who said i was worried about that?" I asked him laughing.
I heard a brief moment of silence before Alex replied and I could just picture him smirking weirdly at nothing and his friends asking him why he was smirking for no apparent reason.
This caused me to smile.
"Um, oh you know..." He trailed off.
I shook my head at me him even though he couldn't see what I was doing.
"That you are making up stories again?" I asked him.
"Maybe, maybe not." Alex said and I could just imagine the smile that would appear on his face.
I loved his smile.
"Alex it's getting late. Can I call you tomorrow morning before school? Or do you want me to sneak to the party?" I suggested, knowing that my boyfriend would love the sound of that even though I knew he wouldn't allow it because he was protective over me.
Feeling a shiver run up my spine I pulled my sheets further up my body and snuggled into them, stifling a yawn.
"Sneak to the party? You'll get in trouble though." He pouted and I could picture his lips formed in a frown abc his eyes staring at the floor if the house he was in.
I sighed, knowing that he was right.
"I know. I just want to go to be with you." I said, frowning.
"I'm sorry princess. How about I escape the party and sneak into your bedroom. It'd be easier than you going to the party." He said in a suggesting tone.
"No it's okay. I know you love partying." I said with disappointment.
"No, it's decided I'm coming over. I'll see you then." Alex said to me before cutting the phone off so that I couldn't protest.
I sighed and sat my phone beside the pillow and laid back down, staring at the roof even though it wasn't very exciting.
My eye kids snapped shut but I compelled them to open.
I couldn't fall asleep, I needed to see Alex.
I rolled over onto my side and pushed my hair back with my hand, listening to the crickets croaky noises.
I wondered how long it would take for Alex to why here.
Maybe I could slip in a few minutes if sleep.
Deciding against Igbo sat up again and pulled the covers off my legs, feeling a cold air hit my bare legs.
Maybe I shouldn't have worn shorts to bed.
It was at that weird weather stage where it got colder as the day went on.
I swung my legs off the bed and walked over to my small window, opening the white curtains.
When I looked outside I saw blurry images of the bricked house beside mine.
I blinked my eyes repeatedly trying to make the image clearer.
When I failed I just ignored it and stared at the space between my house and the next door neighbours house.
This is where Alex would come up.
I scratched my nose and made my way over to my study desk where I had set my glasses.
If I wanted to see Alex's face without it going blurry I may need to wear my glasses, no matter how much I hated them.
Sitting the glasses across my face I went back over to my window and opened it up.
The cold air nipped at my skin and I shivered.
Ignoring the coldness I lent my head out of the window to see if I could spot my red headed boyfriend.
My eyes searched the premises but I didn't spot anyone except for next doors grey rabbit that was digging holes in our front lawn.
I laughed at it.
Looks like mum and dad will be having a 'nice' chat to the neighbours tomorrow when they found that hole.
"Ellie, Ellie." I heard a quiet voice call out and I smiled.
I lent over the window further and spotted the top of my boyfriends red hair.
"Alex!" I softly yelled.
"How am I suppose to get up?" He asked me, looking up towards me, straining his neck.
I searched the are for a way he could get up, but found none whatsoever.
"I have no idea." I sighed, pulling my hair back due to the fact that it had fallen over my face.
"I'll just climb up." He said.
"How much have you had to drink tonight? And don't go on about how you already told me you weren't drunk." I said laughing at the fact he was about to attempt to climb up a wall that had no handholds.
yeah good luck with that one Alex.
"Only two because I wanted to be sober for when I called you and you know that my friends started questioning why the hell I was only having two when they know I'm not exactly a light drinker." He explained, laughing.
"What you tell them?" I asked.
"That I couldn't drink anymore than that because my mum said so and then they just started teasing me how I was becoming soft." He said rolling his eyes.
I laughed at his response and looked back quickly to make sure nobody was standing there.
Once I was certain I turned back around and rubbed my eyes, feeling them droop down again.
"Well don't just stand there. Hurry up and get up here."
"Alright, alright I'm coming up." He said stifling a laugh.
I watched as Alex walked closer to the brick wall and heard his humming sounds escape his mouth as he did this.
His hums were so cute.
"I'm not going to be able to climb up it unless I become Spider-man and have webs coming out of my fingers. Aww now I want to be Spider-Man." He whined and I shook my head at him.
"Don't worry I like you better then I ever will like Spider-Man, so become him." I said smiling.
"Aww princess I'm not planning in it. I just need to get up this wall somehow."
I turned my attention back over to my bedroom where I saw my chair tucked behind my study desk and mentally cheered myself.
I had an idea.
"Hey Alex how about I chuck down my chair and you stand on it? Since you're talk I can lean over further and grab you to pull you up even though It might hurt a little." I suggested.
"Yeah it's better than nothing." My boyfriend said.
"Alright." I answered back.
Turning my back towards the window I rushed over to where the chair sat and grabbed it using my arm strength while trying my best not to drop it on the floor.
If I did it would've woke mum and dad up.
Pulling the chair over to the window I yelled for Alex to move and threw the chair onto the ground where it landed on its side.
"Wow." Alex whispered to himself.
"This chair is actually really small."
"That would be because there is a leaver thing in the chair that makes it grow." I laughed and he smacked his forehead with his cut up hand.
I honestly had no idea where he got those cuts from, but wherever it was I wasn't going to press on the matter.
He didn't want to talk about it, simple as that.
I watched as he made the chair raise in height and smile in triumph despite the fact that it wasn't that triumphant, but that's one thing I loved about him.
To him even the smallest of things he did were an accomplishment and something for himself to be proud about.
He acted immature most of the time, but I had picked up the fact that he was happy with the way things were in his life and celebrated everything good that happened.
Sure, the boy always drinks, but he does that because it's another way for him to enjoy his life as much as he could.
I envied my own boyfriend for that.
In our secret relationship the only thing in our way if telling everyone was my parents.
I was holding him back, and I knew it.
Snapping out of my daze I watched Alex stand on the chair and he ended up almost to my window which made me smile and clap my hands together.
Alex really was pretty tall.
If it was me on the chair I wouldn't have made it so far up.
"Now pull me up babe and save the sexy king from standing on a chair for the rest of the night." He joked, putting his hands on his hip and preset ended to be all mighty.
I shook my head and replied, "alright I'm going."
I lent my body further over the window and grabbed onto Alex's hand, trying my best to give him a lift up despite the fact that I felt like I was going to fall out of the window.
"I'll pull you up slightly and grab your other hand onto the window so you can pull yourself up from there. You're too heavy for me to pull all the way up."
"Are you suggesting I'm fat? I thought I had a good body even though it's not a six pack."
I laughed.
"Don't worry, I'm just weak."
