Ch. 6
I woke up the next day and saw that Optimus was still asleep. I smiled, remembering last night's events. I yawned and stretched before carefully getting up. I checked on Orion and saw he was still sleeping as well. I smiled as I walked out to the main room. I saw that one of the girls was awake.
"Hey," I greeted.
"Hi," I barely heard the girl reply.
Just then, Jazz walked in.
"I'm BlueStreak, or Blue for short. This is Jazz," I introduced myself and my friend.
"Hey, you two must be hungry. I'll take you into the city to get some food if you want," Jazz offered.
"Alright! I'm starving!" the red head girl replied.
I smiled as I left the room.
Time to go get some more training in, I thought.
I first set the difficulty level on easy to warm up, then gradually let it go to hard. I started to get lost in my thoughts again, thinking about my parents.
*flashback (normal POV)*
"BlueStreak! Get down from the roof right now!" a blue and yellow bot called to her daughter.
"But mom! I want to watch the battle over in Iacon," BlueStreak replied.
"It's not safe, honey. The Decepticons could come over here any minute," a black and green bot said as he stood by his sparkmate's side.
BlueStreak sighed as she climbed down from the roof.
"Good girl. Now head down to the basement. Your brother is already there. We'll join you in less than a megacycle," her dad said.
She nodded and ran inside. She went down into the basement and saw her brother huddled in a corner.
"Sis!" he exclaimed when he saw her as he jumped up.
Blue wrapped her brother in a hug.
"Where's mom and dad?" Bee asked after a second.
"Dad said they'll be down soon. There's a battle over in Iacon right now," Blue replied.
Bee started to cry.
"I want them down here now so I know they're safe," he said between sobs.
"Hey, it's okay. They'll be fine," his sister comforted, but tears ran down her face too.
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion, shaking the whole basement. Bumblebee clung to his sister tighter.
"I'm scared," Bee whispered softly.
"I know bro. I am too," Blue replied as tears kept running down her face.
(Meanwhile, unknown to Blue...)
When she had disappeared, the blue and yellow bot turned to the other one, wrapping him in a hug.
"I'm worried about them, HyperTracks. The Decepticons are ruthless and will search through rubble for treasures. I don't want the Cons to find Blue and Bee," she said.
"They'll be safe, Breeze. I'll make sure of that," HyperTracks replied.
Breeze nodded and buried her head in his neck.
"I love you with all my spark," he whispered.
"I love you too," Breeze replied.
Suddenly, a Decepticon ship flew overhead and dropped a bomb. The couple ran, but they couldn't get away in time.
*end flashback*
I was torn away from my thoughts when I felt someone small grab my leg.
"Mommy." I stopped, put my weapons away, and looked down to see my son.
I smiled as I picked him up.
"Hey, my little Prime. What are you doing here?" I asked him, playfully poking his nose gently with my finger.
He looked across the room and pointed. I chuckled softly when I saw Optimus watching.
"Oh so daddy put you up to this?" I asked with a smile and he nodded.
I walked over to my sparkmate.
"Dddd-daddy," Orion managed to say.
"That's right. This is daddy," I praised as I handed Optimus our son.
"Morning. At it already?" he asked, giving me a kiss on the cheek.
I have to be. I'm still not good enough.
"Yeah," I replied.
"Blue, come in. I could use some help," my brother said over the com.
No. Not now, I thought.
"Optimus, Bee's in trouble. I'll stay here with Orion, Cascade, and Remix if you could take Star, Ironhide, and Mirage to go back him up," I said.
He gave me back Orion and went to get the others. I sighed as I walked to Cascade's room. My 2-year-old niece was playing in her playpen.
"Hey, Cas. What's up?" I asked her as I set Orion in with her.
"Beaker!" she exclaimed, holding up a plastic beaker.
I smiled and laughed.
"Yep. That is a beaker. Good job," I said as I patted her head.
I smiled at them before leaving the room to go check on Remix.
"Hey little dude," I greeted as I entered his room.
I walked over to my adopted nephew and picked him up.
"Punk," Remix said, making me laugh.
"You got that from Ironhide, didn't you?" I asked.
Remix just nodded proudly. I rolled my optics and smiled.
Typical Ironhide.
I took him to Cascade's room and put him in the playpen next to Orion. I watched them play for a few minutes. Remix tried to take Cascade's blanket from her, but before I could stop him, Orion shoved him away.
"No!" he exclaimed.
"Mine!" Remix said back.
"No!" Orion said again.
Oh boy. They're going to be a handful as they get older.
I went over and picked up Remix.
"No, little dude. That's not your blanket," I told him as I carried him back to his room.
"This is your's," I said as I gave him his black blanket.
He took his blanket and attempted to eat it. I shook my head and smiled as I went to the training room. We had built a playpen in there for occasions similar to this. I set Remix down it it, then went to get Cas and Orion.
"Now play nice. Even though I'm busy, I'm still keeping an optic on you," I warned the three kids.
I put the program on hard and trained for a while, constantly checking on the kids. Half a megacycle went by with the kids behaving themselves. When I checked on them again, however, I saw Cascade hit Remix's head with her plastic beaker, even though he wasn't trying to steal her blanket. I sighed as I walked up to them.
"Cas, we don't hit others...unless they're a Decepticon. Remix is not a Con, so we don't hit him," I told her as I picked her up.
"Beaker!" she exclaimed.
I took her toy from her hands and she looked at me sadly.
"Will you be nice and not hit Remix?" I asked her.
She nodded and held out her hands.
"Okay," I said as I gave her back the beaker.
I set her back down, then continued training. After a little bit, Optimus came in and turned off the training simulation. I put my weapons away as he walked up to me and wrapped me in a hug. I hugged back and rested my head on his chest.
"I'm worried about you," he whispered, holding me closer.
"I'm fine," I replied, hoping that he would believe me.
"I know that you are not okay, but I will not ask you to tell me what is bothering you. I just want you to know that it is scaring me to see you like this," Optimus said.
I started to feel lightheaded. My vision started to go white, then everything went black.
----------------
A scene started to appear in front of me. The sky was black and fire consumed the land.
"What happened here?" I asked myself.
I then noticed that there were bodies scattered on the ground. I walked around and realized what I was seeing.
"No...no no no," I said as tears started to run down my face.
There, lying lifeless in front of me, were the other Autobots, including Optimus, Star, and Bee.
"No...this...t-this isn't real," I tried to calm myself down, but it was no use.
This just feels too real. It was then that I noticed two other small bodies. I walked over then stopped when I realized who they were: Cascade and Orion. I fell to my knees and cried.
"No...this is all my fault," I said softly.
I forced myself to stand up and keep looking around to see if I could find who did this. Instead, I found two humans. I knelt down and studied their bloody and mangled bodies. After a moment, I knew who they were: the two girls that we had rescued from the Cons.
"Not them too," I said as anger started to overtake me, replacing the sadness.
----------------
I jolted awake, breathing heavily. I looked around and saw that everyone was still alive.
Thank Primus that was just a dream.
I sighed and rested my head in my hands. I knew I had passed out, probably from training too much, but I wasn't going to give up.
"Bad dream?" Star asked as she walked over to me.
I just nodded.
More like an all-too-real nightmare, I thought.
"Alright out! All of you! Us girls need to talk. You too Ratchet!" Star said as she pushed everyone out.
She came back to me and crossed her arms.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
Scrap.
"It's nothing. That dream just scared me, that's all," I replied.
I hated saying I was scared, but I had no choice. I didn't want to tell her about the battle with Starscream, so I had to say that.
"Yeah nope don't believe you. Something is wrong, one you never back down from a battle with cons and two you never say you're scared. So spill, and no lying to me," she said.
I sighed.
"I...don't want to talk about it," I replied after a moment.
"You are impossible, the world doesn't rest on your shoulders. I know you won't tell me what's wrong, but know that by keeping it to yourself is not only bad for your health it is hurting those around you. Making us worry. I know you, there is no getting through to you. I just want you to know that all of us are scared," Star said sternly after she sighed.
I stared at the ground. After a few moments, I stood up and hugged my friend.
"Thank you," I said quietly.
"You're welcome, you know we all just want you to be healthy and safe. Especially now that you have Orion and even Cascade. I know that this won't happen for a long while if ever while this war goes on, but when I die I want you to be just as safe as the rest of my family... sister," she replied.
I was silent as a few tears started to run down my face. I remembered the dream I had.
No, I won't let it happen, I thought.
"Hey, I will be fine though, just promise you will rest today. No more training for twenty four hours got that?" Star instructed, pulling away and giving me her famous do-what-I-say-or-I-kill-you look.
"Alright," I replied, giving in.
Star left and Optimus came in. Before I could say anything, he kissed me on the lips. I kissed him back as I wrapped my arms around his neck. He carried me to our room and set me on the bed. We sat in silence for a while until I just broke down and started crying. Optimus wrapped his arms around me and rubbed my back as I cried.
"It's okay," he said comfortingly.
"How will everything be okay? I'm not as strong as you. I'm too weak," I managed to say between tears.
"Too weak? Blue, look at me. You are anything but weak. I know everything will be okay because you are ten times stronger than I ever was and ever will be. You have taken the hits of the war and turned them to benefit you, every hit that I have seen you take only ever makes you stronger. That is one of the many reasons why I love you. True strength isn't our physical ability; it is how we handle the ups and downs of the war and make them our own. You do that not as a forced ability from the war but as a natural strength that comes from within. Never say that you are weak because you are far from it. I love you, and everything will be fine because you will be with me in the fight and in moments like this," he explained, leaning his head on mine.
I calmed myself down and buried my face in his neck, taking his words to spark. I let myself drift into a deep sleep.
