1. The Game
"But Moooom! It just came out! I need it!" I pleaded, my eyes begging my mother. "Alright, fine." She gave in. YES! She gave in! I can get it!
Oh, by the way, I'm Emma. I love video games and my mom is gonna get me the brand new one, called "The Challenger". It came out yesterday! I ran up to my room and hugged my pillow, which was covered with septiceyes. I flopped onto my back and looked up, imagining what it would be like to be inside a game! Everything would be pixelated, I could do anything.
I guess I fell asleep, because the next thing I knew, Mom was shaking me, and said, "Maybe we'll get the game tomorrow, honey."
"NOPE NOPE NOPE!" I cried, getting up immediately. "We are going today!" Mom sighed, rolling her crystal-blue eyes. "Alright, fine." Standing up, she walked away. "If you're not downstairs in 10 minutes, we're not going." She called over her shoulder.
I jumped up and grabbed the car keys, throwing them at Mom before running through the house and into the garage, jumping in the car. "Emma! What on earth has gotten in to you?" Mom cried, looking flustered. "Car. Now." I cried, blowing a lock of strawberry-blonde hair from my eyes. "They'll be all sold out!" I whined. "Please hurry!" My mother, who seemed to enjoy aggravating me today, slowly walked over to the car and sat down even slower. "Mom!" I hissed, making her jump. "Let's go!" She sighed. "But this time-"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, nag nag. Let's get this show on the road!" I cheered. Mom shook her head, and started the car, going a little over the speed limit for my sake.
Finally, we got to Vids and Vanity, which was like a videogame store just for girls!
It was full of game-themed makeup, and lots of games. The signs all boasted of the new game, the one I had dreamed about for ages! The Challenger. The name gave me chills as I read the sign. The amazing excitement of a new game filled me, and I had an urge to sweep the game off the shelf, and hug as hard as I could. Before I could do anything, though, Mom handed me a 10 dollar bill, and said, "Go get your game, I want you in the car in 5 minutes." She walked out the door, and I was left alone in the store. I grabbed the game and ran it over to Ronnie, the cashier. "The Challenger, huh?" He asked, his face lighting up. "Good choice." "Thanks!" I said, as he rung it up, before grabbing the game and asking shyly, "And some of the jacksepticeye nail polish." I added, pointing to the bright green container. He nodded, grabbing it, before giving it to me.
As I walked out of the store, I looked back. Ronnie was gone, and the only thing I could see behind the counter was a cloaked bright red figure, eyes glaring crazily, before I blinked, and Ronnie was back. "MOM!! Home!" I yelled, jumping into the car. When we got home, I rushed up to my X-Box, and slid the game in, setting up while it loaded. Chips, soda, my jacksepticeye pillow... It was perfect! As I sat down and started playing the game, the red figure came back to me. "What was it?" I asked myself, before a dramatic fanfare sounded through my speakers and the memory was forgotten.
