FOUR

14th February

Jungkook had reached Serendipity, but Susan wasn't there yet. He had reserved a table for two and was currently sitting in the more private area of the cafe, anxiously waiting for Susan.

His chin rested on his clasped hands and his eyes were lost in the pompous, deep red petals of the roses he had bought.

"Excuse me, sir?" a deep voice sounded right next to him.

He snapped back to reality and looked up. He saw a man in a beret, wearing a gray shirt and a black apron around his waist. He had deep wavy hair, they were long enough to qualify as to having a mullet.

"Would you like to order something?" he had a very soft and husky voice.

Jungkook looked blankly for a second, like he had no idea what the man was talking about. The waiter then pointed his eyes at the menu on the table. Jungkook looked down and realized that his elbows were pressing down on the menu.

"Uh- " he looked up to the waiter. "Actually, I am waiting for someone. So I'll order once they get here."

The waiter gave a flat unenthusiastic smile. "Sure. Let me know when you're ready to order." he turned to go, but Jungkook stopped him.

"Excuse me!"

The waiter turned back to him.

"On second thought-" Jungkook said. "-could I get a latte, a strawberry shortcake and uh-" he hesitated a bit and looked up at the man.

The waiter jotted down the order on his little notepad. It gave Jungkook some time to look at him.

His face was chiseled, like a sculpture's, with flawless immaculate features, supple lips and a perfect arch on the bridge of his nose. His eyes were covered partially with his wavy hair but Jungkook could see the deep brown underneath. He had such a unique aura to him, Jungkook was drifting away in his thoughts.

'I want to photograph him.' Jungkook thought.

The man's eyes lifted from the notepad and looked straight into Jungkook's, which made him fluster up a bit.

"And?" he asked shallowly.

"And uh- maybe a T-tiramisu?" he didn't want a Tiramisu, he just panicked.

As the husky voiced man noted, Jungkook gazed at his tone, which looked off, and he realized that the man was blinking his eyes a lot, like as if his head was beating with pain.

He looked for a name tag, but the waiter didn't have one.

"So one latte, a strawberry shortcake and a Tiramisu, is that right?"

Jungkook nodded. "You don't look so well, are you okay?"

"I don't?" he frowned internally, but did not show it. "I am fine, thank you. I'll be back with your order in sometime." saying that he went back to get the man's order ready.

"Hey, Jimin." he stopped by his friend.

"Yeah, what is it, Taehyung?" Jimin asked back.

"Do I not look well?" Taehyung was worried if his face looked sleep deprived and that he'd been serving customers like that since nine in the morning. He did, though, admit that his head had been woozy ever since the last two hours, but he hadn't given it much thought.

"Why?" Jimin turned to him and looked at his face. "Wait-did you have breakfast today?"

"Uh-" his mind went back to when he woke up. "No."

"Why the hell did you not have breakfast?" he scolded him.

"Ah-it's okay! I'll have something to eat on my break-" he looked at his watch. "It's only thirty more minutes until then."

Back at Jungkook's table, he had submerged himself in the rose petals again.

"Hey, Jungkook." a familiar voice called from his back.

He looked up and saw a woman. She was wearing a bright green sweater, tight black bottoms, an overcoat and a matching green woolen hat.

It was Susan.

Jungkook's thoughts were rushing all over the place.

"Happy Valentine's!" she brushed his hands and sat down in front of him. Her eyes fell on the flowers. "Oh my!" she gasped out. "These are my favourite! Are they for me?"

Jungkook nodded with a blunt smile.

Susan happily grabbed the bouquet and smelled the flowers. She took out her phone and started taking pictures right away.

Meanwhile, Jungkook's eyes fell on the necklace she wore, and then on the matching bracelet. His mind went back to all the other small trinkets and gifts she had somehow convinced him to buy for her, in just the span of two weeks.

Jungkook had doused her with kindness and nothing else, while she was out there going out with another guy behind his back.

"Susan."

"Mmhmm?" she didn't look back at Jungkook.

"You're seeing someone, aren't you?" he was being straightforward and pretty blunt, but he didn't care at that moment, he just wanted the truth.

Her expression froze and she looked at Jungkook. "W-what do you mean?" she gave a small laugh.

'There it is. It was her.'

Jungkook wasn't in the mood for jokes. "Please don't pretend like you have no clue what I am talking about." he frowned. "I saw you, with another man, just a couple of blocks from here-"

"That was my brother!" she said quickly.

Jungkook's eyebrows scrunched up. "Oh? Your brother? Does your brother, usually kiss you on the lips and grab your ass in public?"

She remained silent.

"Look Susan, I only agreed to give this relationship a go because you insisted, but if you targeted me because of money and that is all the reason you approached me for in the first place, then I am sorry, I can't do this."

Susan knew she'd been caught, but she wasn't letting go of Jungkook that easily. "No! No, that is not it!" her small giggles were getting edgy and dry. "I like you, Jungkook! I really-"

"If you liked me then you wouldn't have gone for someone else behind my back."

The woman's patience seemed to have finally given in.

Susan's expression changed to a nasty frown, and her voice heightened. "The only reason I started seeing him was because you still weren't ready to give me a reply on whether we could move forward with this relationship!"

"So you went to another guy? What for? Because we didn't do anything intimate and you wanted to get your sexual desires fulfilled?"

"So what if I did?" her pitch raised higher. "Two days after you decided to try dating me, I realised that you weren't that type of guy! Which was around the same time I met him."

Jungkook chuckled and shook his head. "So why didn't you let me go?" the heel of his foot was moving up and down in agitation. "Was it because because I treated you well and ended up buying you the most expensive things you asked for? You just stuck by because I had the money, right? I was just someone you could show off to your friends on social media, wasn't I?"

She gave a dirty smile and got up from her seat. "Exactly." her hands brushed against the bouquet and it fell down with a damp thud. "Oops." her cold eyes didn't sway from Jungkook. "I won't bother picking them. You can keep them anyway. I never really liked roses in the first place."

Saying that, she strutted out.

Jungkook tilted his head and rolled his tongue against the sides of his mouth in frustration. Cussing in his head, he bent down to the flowers.

'Why the fuck would she-'

"Was she your date?" a deep voice questioned from above.

Jungkook flipped up quickly and met eyes with the waiter who had taken his order earlier.

"Ah~" Jungkook gave a small smile to himself and sat up on his seat, while placing the flowers on the table.

The waiter placed a jar of pink and white, a plate of a small block of coffee dessert and a cup of latte with a warm heart made at its centre.

"She wasn't exactly my date."

The other man nodded. "Well, I hope you enjoy your order. Oh, you can keep the jar, it's a freebie."

"Thank you." Jungkook's eyes fell on the beautiful man yet again. Part of the man's soft, dark hair was tuck behind his ear, which exposed a good portion of his face.

'I really want to photograph him.'

After the man left, Jungkook got out the film camera from his shoulder bag. He had a sinful desire to secretly take a photo of at least the man's back. But he mentally whacked himself and set the elements on the table for the an aesthetic look instead.

"Let's just take this, shall we?" he muttered unenthusiastically.

He directed the lens at the flowers and confectionery, and looked through the viewfinder. 'Snap' his camera captured a picture. He went for another, but he heard a click.

The film was over.

At the other end of the shop, Taehyung went up to Jimin and told him that he'd be taking his break now. After that, he went to the male staff's room at the back of the cafe and slumped on the couch with a sandwich and a pack of juice.

"Smiling at people this frequently sure is fucking tough." he mumbled, as he bit into his chicken sandwich.

His stomach gave out a low, whimpering grumble. He looked down at his belly. "I get it you're hungry, okay? I am eating!"

He lay his head back, closed his eyes and chewed on his food.

He thought of nothing, but the dark in his eyes showed him vivid moments of his younger self. Moments he had no memory of, but had heard as stories from his elders. He'd take another bite of the sandwich and another scene would dance in the dark. For a while, the moments stayed monochromatic, but as he aged in them, the light burst and splashed a series of colours. The colours hurt, but Taehyung did not open his eyes. He continued watching, until the brightness forced the eyes to adjust.

This wasn't anything new for him. It was his way of relaxing and sorting his thoughts and emotions, of his past, present and future. It was a simple exercise that he developed himself, and it proved beneficial whenever he felt like he had to calm himself.

When he first started, he'd had to put pressure on his mind to relive his past moments, but now, the reel would play as soon as he'd close his eyes. His body was accustomed to it.

He opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling.

Just then, the room's door opened and someone walked in. Taehyung looked from the corner of his eye and saw a bubbly Jimin walk in, while holding two bouquets in his hands. One had an elegant array of various pretty, soft coloured flowers, and the other bunch looked rather familiar to him.

He sat straight and stared at Jimin, he had a gentle smile on his face. "Where did you get that from?"

Jimin smiled wider on the mention of the flowers. He came and sat next to Taehyung, placed the more familiar bunch on the table and showed off the other one.

"Do you remember that wedding I did the choreography for?" Jimin asked him eagerly.

"You do choreography for a lot of weddings." Taehyung said back bluntly and munched on his chicken sandwich.

Jimin sighed annoyingly. "Taehyung, Seokjin's wedding."

"Oh! Right, the actor."

"Remember I showed you a guy I met at that wedding?"

"That cold looking guy??"

"He's not cold looking."

"He sent you the flowers??"

Jimin nodded and fished a note from in between the bouquet and held it out for Taehyung to read. "It also has this."

"It just says 'Happy Valentine's' ."

Jimin smirked and turned the note to reveal another message.

'Take care and do not over-exert yourself too much, it can be bad for you.

I hope you have a beautiful day. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Love, Yoongi.'

"Oohhh!!" Taehyung gave a teasing smirk after reading it. But that smirk disappeared just as fast as it came. "If he could send you flowers and write pretty notes for you, why didn't he come on his own?"

"Because he isn't here. He's out of town."

"Oh." Taehyung felt dumb all of a sudden. "Uh- then, that is impressive."

Jimin laughed. "He's a bit shy and awkward, but he has some pretty cute gestures."

Taehyung didn't really know how to react to that, so, he just nod his head.

"You don't really have to pretend to seem enthusiastic about it." Jimin said as he fiddled with the soft petals of the flowers.

"No!" Taehyung denied immediately, with his mouth stuffed. "It's not like that! I am happy for you that you seem to like this guy. But I don't know him all that well, which is why I am concerned whether you should be dating him or not."

"I am not dating him yet you know?" his friend laughed.

"I just want you to find the right person."

"Oh, someone's worried for me~" Jimin's eyebrows wriggled.

Taehyung sighed and grabbed the other bouquet. This one had just roses. Really big roses.

"Where did this one come from?"

"Oh, Jungkook left that one."

"Jungkook?"

"He was the guy you served, before your break."

"The guy whose date left him?" Taehyung looked at the big, full, deep red roses clumped together.

"These smell expensive." he sniffed them. "By the way, how do you know him?"

"He's a friend of the couple whose wedding I went to."

"Jungkook." Taehyung said his name again quietly.

Jimin leaned in closer to him. "He's a photographer."

"So?"

"Well, I was thinking if I could recommend your name for mod-"

"Oh, look at the time!" Taehyung cut Jimin off and stood up, dropping the flowers on the couch. "I need too get back to waiting tables." he walked to the door.

"Taehyung-"

Taehyung stopped. "What?"

"He is looking for models, and he's going to do an audition run soon. You can start afresh again!"

"Jimin, you know I-"

"Taehyung, how long do you plan to hide from what you want to do? You did it before, you can give it another shot! You've got the looks and you may even try giving some auditions for acting if people start recognizing you!"

Taehyung rolled his eyes at Jimin. "Looks aren't everything. It's not that easy, Jiminie."

"Yeah, but it's worth a shot. Jungkook's a photographer for a really big agency. He's a big deal in the industry! If your talent comes out-"

"Okay!" spread his hands in front of him. "Fine, fine."

"So, can I give your name to him?"

"Yeah, do you whatever you want." Taehyung tightened his black waist apron. "But don't forget my pastries."

"Oh, I definitely won't forget those. Which ones do you want? I'll save some."

"Strawberry shortcakes and Tiramisu?" Taehyung questioned.

"Tiramisu?" Jimin gave an uncertain laugh. "You never fancied that."

"Well-" his mind went back to the guy who had ordered that dessert. "-thought I'd give it a go."

Jimin was still laughing.

"What?"

"Ahem..." Jimin cleared his throat. "Nothing."
