FIVE

14th February

At around half past nine, Taehyung was done with his duties and helping the rest of the staff clean the cafe. After that, he headed to the male staff's room after all the others had left. He changed from the gray shirt into his casuals, and grabbed his phone and wallet to head out.

His eyes fell on the flowers, the flowers that that man had left behind.

He had an urge to take them with him, so, he did.

With the bouquet in his hands, he walked out. He met Jimin at the counter, who was packing two strawberry shortcake jars, and a Tiramisu in a pastry box.

"Here you go." Jimin extending a paper bag to him. His eyes fell on the flowers. "You're taking the flowers?"

"They'll dry up here."

"Right. Of course." Jimin agreed, with a rather sarcastic tone.

"Thanks for this." Taehyung held the bag up.

"You don't need to thank me. I should be the one to thank you. I'm sorry I made you do this today-"

"It's okay Jimin, you don't need to apologize. I can be of some use to you."

Jimin chuckled. "Yeah."

"Now, do you want me to drive you or not? Or you want to continue to scrub that counter until you make a hole in it?"

Jimin looked down. "Oh! I almost forgot. I'll go change right now." saying that, he left to change and get his belongings.

Taehyung pulled out a chair from the nearest table and sat down. He peeped into the paper bag and got out the box of the Tiramisu cake, and a black plastic spoon.

He opened the elegant blue and white box, to reveal yet another elegant masterpiece. A small block of cake, with precise layers of biscuits, mascarpone cheese and a beautiful dust of cocoa on top.

His spoon pierced through the softness in one clean swoop. He first sniffed the piece. 'Coffee.'

He hesitated, but took the bite anyway. The cake melted in his mouth, the mascarpone was delicate and fluffy. The slight citrus tang wasn't exactly Taehyung's style, but It elated the taste of the coffee scented dessert to a whole different level.

Taehyung seemed to be enjoying it. Soon, the small cake was over before Jimin could come back out.

On the ride home, Taehyung couldn't help but notice Jimin staring so intently at his phone, smiling every time a notification sounded.

"Are you texting him?" Taehyung glanced at Jimin, while still keeping his eyes on the road.

"Yoongi? Yeah." he smiled to himself.

There was silence for a while.

"Oh!" Jimin exclaimed all of a sudden. "He sent me a snippet of the new song he's going to release next month!"

"He makes songs?"

"Yeah, he's a music producer and composer." Jimin pointed at the speaker system of the car. "Can I connect my phone?"

Taehyung nodded his head.

In no time, an acoustic guitar's sound filled the car. The beats were warm, soft and mellow. Taehyung felt light all of a sudden, the music was encapsulating him. The strums of the guitar faded in the background and a bold piano clarified.

He had never thought at first glance that Yoongi could be someone who'd associate himself with music. And even if he would have thought that, he would have never thought that Yoongi wrote music this supple.

"Whoa-" Jimin let out a heavy sigh. "This is beautiful." he looked at Taehyung in the driver's seat. "Don't you agree?"

Taehyung actually couldn't agree less. "I didn't actually think he makes stuff like this."

"I thought the same way." Jimin said softly. "It's so graceful. But then again, as a producer, he has to explore every genre."

"Have you heard any of his other songs?"

"Some, not all." Jimin gazed at the lights ahead, his face had a kind, admirable expression. "He has a beautiful sense of writing and composing songs."

Taehyung dropped Jimin off first and then headed to his place.

Upstairs, on his door's handle, a letter was squished in its crook.

Taehyung didn't have to unfold the letter and read to know what it was. "Ah, shit. I forgot to pay the rent again."

With flowers and the paper bag in one hand, he opened his door, took the letter and entered his small, dull house. He turned on the lights, and headed to the kitchen first to place everything on the counter.

Taehyung then cut the stems of the roses at an angle and dipped them in a bottle full of water. He then got the shortcake jars out, kept one in the fridge and got one to eat at the moment.

With jar in hand, he sat down on his bed and turned his laptop on.

The first thing he wanted to browse about, was Yoongi. He wanted to know more about him, so that he could trust him with his friend.

The search engine didn't hesitate to complete the name before he did. As soon as he typed 'yo', the man's name was right there at the top.

Taehyung looked at his photos in deep thought. "He doesn't look that old-" he talked to himself. "Oh wait, he's twenty seven, and he turns twenty eight this March. He's basically an uncle." he commented sarcastically.

He then listened to some of his songs, and admitted, they were really good. The man had talent.

After a bit more surfing about Yoongi, he now knew that he was the main music producer for the company 'R&B productions', he also found out that that company not only played a role in the music industry, but also in several other fields.

In addition to that, he found something more interesting. The man- Jungkook, who left the flowers at the cafe, was a photographer for the same company. And dang, his skills were no joke.

Taehyung was left in awe when he saw the models the man had photographed. They were just pictures of different people, but the way they were taken, gave a different aura to them. Taehyung didn't know much about photography, but he knew enough to figure out that there was indeed something different about that man's work. He also realized that each model was unique. The exquisiteness exhibited by his models, overruled the classic beauty that was fished for in the industry. It was as though the photographer had gone all over the world to look for the fine diversity in all its grace and splendor.

He then came across a picture of the man himself. Taehyung paused and stared at his face. He had good features, a thin upper lip, slightly fatter lower lip, big brown eyes and a sharp jawline. What stood out the most, was probably the amount of piercings he had on his earlobes, and the slight hint of a tattoo popping out from the collar of his t-shirt.

Taehyung chewed on his strawberry. "He's hard to think of as a photographer in this picture, he looked more like one this morning."

Slowly, Taehyung was starting to have second thoughts as he went through more of the pictures taken by Jungkook. Not only were his pictures of humans portraits perfect, the ones of landscapes and even inanimate objects were on a whole different level. That man hadn't left a single stone unturned.

On exploring a bit more, he came across a link to the photographer's blog.

His teeth were biting down on the plastic spoon from which he ate his shortcake. His cursor hovered over the link, debating whether to spend more time on looking at that guy's pictures or to just go to sleep.

He looked at his side clock and yawned with the spoon still in his mouth. It was past midnight, the new day had begun and yet there he was, staring at his laptop screen. 'Gosh, I have work tomorrow.'

He yawned once more. He gave up.

'I should sleep. I'll check it out tomorrow.'  he thought and closed his laptop shut.

Sleepily, he dragged himself to put the jar in the kitchen sink, brush his teeth and change.

When he came back, he fell to the bed, blindly switching off the lights and cuddled his comforter to sleep.

"Tilt your head a bit to the left." Jungkook's voice instructed his model.

"Like this?" Hoseok did as he was told.

"Perfect." Jungkook's face was behind the camera, he captured the picture.

Hoseok did a few more poses and that was a wrap for the photo-shoot.

"I really do enjoy taking pictures of you." Jungkook said as the two of them looked at the results on a screen.

Hoseok smiled wide. "You flatter me too much."

"No, I am serious. Your pictures just soothe me, and they have such a radiance to them, it's unreal."

"Really?" Hoseok nudged Jungkook and smiled. "Thanks. But it's really your magic on how you capture my portraits."

"Oh, come on!"

They observed the pictures.

"So-" Hoseok started again. "How are things with your girlfriend?"

"I finished things with her."

"Why?" he asked back rather calmly, like he expected it.

"She was cheating behind my back."

"Who'd cheat on a guy like you?" Hoseok asked in shock, still looking at the pictures on the screen. "Ooo, this one's good."

"Well, she wasn't really looking for a relationship to begin with, her eyes were on my money."

He nodded his head subtly and then looked at his watch."Oh no- I have to go now-" he started to walk away from Jungkook. "-I have a really important meeting to attend to. I'll leave the photos to you, okay?"

"Yeah, bu-"

"I trust you. You'll do a great job!" he gave the younger a thumbs up and a cheeky smile. "Bye bye! Take care!"

Before Jungkook could say bye back, he had already left.

After selecting some pictures of Hoseok on his computer, he headed on to the dark room, to develop the film that ran out the other day. In his hand, he held the spiral, on which he'd roll the film, all in the dark.

Though old and slightly tedious, developing negatives and printing them by hand was something Jungkook enjoyed doing. He'd seen his father do it when he was five and had fallen in love right away. Seeing the vivid images on the tinted plastic film, and then the pictures magically appearing on sheets when dipped in chemicals...... everything about the process fascinated him. It was then when his interest in photography was awakened.

He'd started by wasting a lot of his father's film rolls, in just a few days time, taking off-focus, blurry pictures. Jungkook was only a child though, he loved hearing the clicks of the camera. But when his father would develop the films for him, he'd be disappointed with the outcome. He would be disappointed that his pictures weren't as great as his father's.

Soon, in a year's time, he became more serious and stable at hand. He managed to handle perspectives well for his age. Then, his father taught him digital photography, it was around the same time when Jungkook got his very first camera.

Since then, capturing moments is all he has ever loved.

While developing negatives, he loved humming along with the music he'd put on in the background. He was alone today, because it was the day off for the rest of the little staff that worked with him, so he could sing to his heart's content.

He never took days off himself. Even if he didn't have anything to do, he'd always come to the studio, even if it was for a short time.

Once the bit with the chemicals was done, he rinsed the film in the developing tank with water twice and then he pulled the film out. Using a clip, he attached the long film to a line and straightened it out using a pair of squeegee tongs.

He tilted his head to get a look at the film against the light on the other side.

'There are some pictures that I do not remember taking.' he smiled to himself as he thought that. 'Oh! There are some pictures of Joon and Jin. I'd better print it and give it to them.'

Just then, his tummy gave out a weird clumpy feeling and it groaned out. Jungkook stood up straight, put his hand to his belly and decided to go out for some food.

Ever since he had met Jimin, Jungkook hadn't gone anywhere else to have food. Serendipity probably had the best food ever and despite the cafe being only a ten minute drive away from his studio, Jungkook had never been there before. But he was glad he knew now and there wasn't any way he was switching from that place any time soon.

As he drove, Jungkook had another feeling squeeze him in the gut besides his hunger. His tummy may have been obscure due to the emptiness, but the other feeling was just as overpowering. It felt like he was longing for something, he was eager.

He stopped at the red lights and the face of the waiter that served him the day before, flashed in front of his eyes. He remembered how much he kept thinking of wanting to take a picture of that effortlessly ethereal man.

Jungkook had seen many people in his life. During the time when he was still studying photography, he got the opportunity to travel with a professional photographer who had taken a liking to Jungkook's perspective of capturing the elements. Over the trip, he met a lot of people, famous people, friends of the photographer, people who'd pose for him on the street- but, he had never seen anyone like that man.

What bothered him though, was that Jungkook had never seen him at the cafe before.

'Is he a new employee?'

When he reached and entered the cafe, Jungkook's eyes were distracted almost immediately. They'd move left and right, making unnoticed glances. He looked at every single person wearing a black waist apron, hoping to find the man who gave him a Tiramisu on Valentine's.

Halfway into the cafe, he sat himself on a counter chair, and rested his elbows on the marble slab. His eyes were still wandering around, but he pretended like as though he was waiting.

"Hello, Jungkook." a raspy voice said from his left.

Jungkook swung his head and saw Yoongi sitting two chairs away from him. He had a notebook and a pen swirling between his fingers.

"Yoongi!" Jungkook fidgeted a bit. "Wait- Were you not supposed to be out of town?"

"There was a change in my schedule. So, I came back early."

Jungkook nodded his head. "What are you doing here?" he smiled contently.

"W-what do you mean by that? I'm here to eat of course."

Just then Jimin came in and rested a cup of coffee and a dessert in front of Yoongi.

"Oh, hey Jungkook!" Jimin smiled at him. Jungkook smiled back and then smirked at Yoongi, who avoided him.

"Would you like your usual?"

"Yeah, sure!" Jungkook nodded back.

Jimin took the order, smiled at Yoongi, who smiled back softly. His eyes followed Jimin in keenness, all the way till he couldn't see his back any more.

"To eat, huh?" Jungkook teased Yoongi, who gave back a silent glare.

Jungkook cleared his throat, still smiling. "So- how's it going with him?"

He looked back blankly. "G-good."

"Just good?"

Yoongi nodded his head and went back to writing something in his notebook.

The younger gazed at the man, his movements with the pen were a bit sloppy. Jungkook knew Yoongi was nervous and trying to avoid conversation, but he decided to speak up anyway.

"You've started to like him, haven't you?"

"What?"

"You've started to like Jimin. No?"

Yoongi tapped his pen anxiously, but did not say anything and then, he turned his face down, his cheeks slightly red.

Jungkook laughed at him. "Oh, you're so in loveee~" he teased him and poked his shoulder.

"Stop it."

Jungkook stopped.

There was silence for a while.

"Yeah." Yoongi said in a very quiet voice.

Jungkook's ears perked up and he leaned closer to his friend. He cupped his hands around his ears. "Yeah? What did you say? I couldn't hear you quite well."

"Yeah, I do." he said back quietly.

"What?" Jungkook leaned further in. "I still can't hear yo-"

"I do like him, okay?" he pushed Jungkook back playfully. "Happy?"

Jungkook grinned wide, scrunching his nose slightly.

Jimin was back with Jungkook's food. As he began to eat, Jimin sat next to Yoongi for sometime. Both laughing and talking.

Jungkook gave a glance around him once more, but gave up when he started seeing the same faces as when he entered the cafe. He did not see him.

"Hey, Jimin." he called for him.

Jimin swung around.

"Do you happen to know where that waiter is? He didn't have a name tag yesterday."

Jimin frowned. "Yesterday-?"

"Uh-" Jungkook's hands fiddled in the air, trying to think something that could give Jimin a hint. "I don't know if you know, but- he was the one who took my order."

"Ahhh!" Jimin's expression calmed down. "You mean Taehyung."

'Taehyung.' the name echoed in Jungkook's mind. 'Gosh, even his name is perfect.'

Yoongi peeped from behind Jimin. "But why do you want to know about someone who works here?" he raised an eyebrow at Jungkook.

Jimin looked at him. "Oh, he doesn't work here." he shook his head. "I was short on staff yesterday, so I called him over."

'So he doesn't work here.' Jungkook's anticipation to see him died down.

"But why do you want to know about him, huh Jungkook?" Yoongi sipped his coffee and pursed his lips.

"He, uh-dropped his ring yesterday." Jungkook wasn't really good at lying.

"Oh, did he now?" Yoongi rested his chin on his palm, smiling as subtly as possible. "Well, where is it?"

Jungkook rolled his tongue against the inners of his cheek, slightly annoyed at the Yoongi for testing him. So, he turned his gaze away to eat his food.

"Well-" Jimin looked at the two around him, simultaneously. "This reminds me-Jungkook?"

"Yeah?"

"Weren't you looking for new models to work with? You said something about an audition?"

"Uh huh." Jungkook's head nodded in reply. "It's my first time doing this, because I'm looking for new faces to model for our company's fashion line."

"Would it be okay if Taehyung joined?"

Jungkook's mind took a complete sixty seconds to understand that sentence.

"He hasn't really given me a reply yet, but I told him about it."

"Oh." Jungkook's 'oh' sounded blunt, but his heart was fluttering like a thousand butterflies that had taken flight at the same time. He was fighting hard to keep a straight face, so that he wouldn't end up smiling like an idiot. "Does he want to model?"

"He's been wanting to start again for quite some time now."

"He's done modelling before?"

"Yes, but it wasn't much. His first shoot was when he was around twenty or so. I'm not sure." Jimin shook his hand in front of him. "They just needed a body shot for advertising some clothes, I guess. Besides, he actually wants to act, modelling was something I got him introduced to for the meantime. He started going for auditions around the same time as well."

"Did he get any roles?" Yoongi spoke, he was starting to take some interest in the conversation.

Jimin shook his head. "Just a few side roles in small sitcoms. But he hasn't been lucky all the time."

"Is his acting good?"

Jimin turned his face to Yoongi. "Yes! He's an amazing actor! He just hasn't been lucky enough to get the right audience to see him."

There was silence for a while.

"Hey, Yoongi." Jungkook called. "Isn't R-B having an audition soon for a new drama series?"

Yoongi pressed the bottom tip of his pen to his chin. "I guess. I'll get it confirmed from Namjoon."

"And before that, he could try out at my audition." Jungkook glanced at Yoongi and then gazed attentively at Jimin. All he could think of, was that he was going to get a chance to photograph that man- no, Taehyung.

Jimin shifted a bit and got out his phone. "That'll be great! Could you send me the details? I'll let him know."

"It's actually all on my blog, I'll text you a link right now. The audition is on the twenty-first of Feb." Jungkook typed on his phone and sent a link to Jimin.

Jungkook then glanced at his food, he felt like he was full, even though he hadn't touched his meal all that much. His insides felt slightly tingly, he was way too excited than he should have been.

He tried calming his heart rate, by eating. But all that did, was make his tummy feel bloated.

Jimin looked up to Jungkook. "It says here that he'll also have to do short runway walk?"

"Yes." Jungkook nodded his head. "It's a simple yet effective way to find out about a person's personality-how they carry themselves. It gives us a lot of information about their body language and character. It's something that is usually done at auditions."

"You'll figure all that by just a walk?" Jimin was a bit concerned.

"Don't worry Jimin, he knows what he's doing." Yoongi assured him softly. "If this friend of yours has the talent that you mentioned, Jungkook will make sure it'll be recognised well. Right, Jungkook?"

"Of course! If he is as you say, I don't think he'll have any trouble."

'Of course he won't.' Jungkook thought bluntly. 'He's a photogenic beauty.'

Jungkook was secretly judging himself internally for being this flustered and excited about Taehyung, but then again, he couldn't help it.
