New Faces, New Friends

"Jet, use Dragon Breath!" I cried.

Jet opened his mouth and released a powerful breath at Kat's Goodra.

"Dragon Pulse!" Kat ordered.

Goodra let out a hearty cry before roaring a multi-colored shock wave that canceled Jet's Dragon Breath.

"Alright, you two. I think that's enough," I said, "Good job, Jet. You too, Goodra. Thanks for training with us."

Goodra smiled and let out a friendly cry, as well as Jet. Libby let out a cry and hopped on my shoulder.

"Alright, the next stop is Texlajara Town. We can heal our Pokémon there." I said.

"Sounds like a plan. Let's go." Kat said.

Nodding to my friend, the two of us made our way to the next town.

"We have to thank your grandmother the next time she calls," Kat said, "She didn't have to pay for our stay at the resort."

"Yeah, I know. Even though it was one night, she was still willing," I said, "We need more people like her in this world."

Kat nodded in agreement. I breathed out a sigh and rubbed my cheek against Libby's, making my partner smile and chirp out a loving cry. Smiling, I placed a kiss on the small Pokémon's head.

Nothing can ruin this moment...

As we walked up the hill, we saw two trainers at the bottom of the hill. The boy had dark yellow hair, brown eyes, and light skin. He had a gray visor on his head that was off to the side. He wore a blue and yellow hoodie with dark gray pants and brown shoes, his backpack matching in color. The girl had ruby red hair, blue eyes, and fair skin with a light pink cap. She had a dark purple battle suit with a white and pink crop sweater over it. Her leggings were a darker shade of purple, and her shoes were two shades of pink. When they saw us, they smiled and waved.

"Hey there!" the girl cried happily as she waved.

Kat and I smiled and waved back. Once at the bottom of the hill, the boy smiled and pointed his finger at us.

"We challenge you to a double battle!" the boy proclaimed.

Kat and I glanced at each other with knowing looks.

I mean, it'd be good training for all four of us...

"Alright, we accept!" I said, turning back to the pair.

"Great! Last one to Texlajara Town is a rotten Exeggcute!" the boy said, running ahead.

I couldn't help but smile as I raced after the boy with Kat and the other girl in tow. Once we arrived at Texlajara Town, we healed our Pokémon and went out to the battlefield.

"Sorry, we forgot to introduce ourselves," the girl said, "I'm Nina!"

"Eric." the boy said.

"I'm Eragona, and this is Libby," I said, petting my partner's head.

"I'm Kat, and this is Angel," Kat said, "Nice to meet you both."

Nina and Eric nodded.

"So, you two ready?" Eric asked.

"We sure are!" Kat said.

Standing on opposite sides of the battlefield, Nina and Eric called out their Pokémon. Eric had a Krookodile, and Nina had a Clefable. Pulling out my Pokédex, I scanned the Pokémon before me.

"Krookodile, the Intimidation Pokémon. They never allow prey to escape. Their jaws are so powerful, they can crush the body of an automobile. It can expand the focus of its eyes, enabling it to see objects in the far distance as if it were using binoculars."

"Clefable, the Fairy Pokémon. A timid fairy Pokémon that is rarely seen, it will run and hide the moment it senses people. Their ears are sensitive enough to hear a pin drop from over a mile away, so they're usually found in quiet places."

"Since we challenged you, you two can have the first move." Nina said.

"Thanks, Nina. Alright, Libby! Use Swift!" I cried.

"Use Swift as well, Angel!" Kat ordered.

Angel and Libby sprinted up to the two Pokémon and released star-shaped rays when they flipped in the air.

"Magical Leaf!" Nina cried.

The Clefable charged up its attack before releasing glowing leaves that got rid of the attack.

"Focus Blast!" Eric cried.

The Krookodile opened its mouth and started charging its attack.

"Double Shadow Ball!" Kat and I cried.

When Libby and Angel landed, they opened their mouths and hurled shadowy blobs at the Krookodile.

"Moonblast, Clefable!" Nina ordered.

Clefable moved in front of Krookodile and charged up an attack of its own. The Clefable then fired a bright pink blast that canceled the Shadow Balls.

"Do it, Krookodile!" Eric said.

When Clefable moved out of the way, the Krookodile fired its Focus Blast.

"Angel, Moonblast!" Kat said.

Angel opened her mouth and fired a similar bright pink blast that nullified the Focus Blast.

"Quick Attack!" I cried.

Libby then sped up towards the Clefable.

"Cover me." I told Kat.

Kat nodded and waited for an attack.

"Dark Pulse!" Eric cried.

"Ice Beam!" Nina said.

The Krookodile released a dark aura, and the Clefable fired an icy-cold energy beam.

"Now, Angel, use Hyper Voice!" Kat cried.

Angel opened her mouth a let out a loud shout. The attack not only canceled our opponents' attacks and stunned their Pokémon, the attack propelled Libby forward, making her run faster. Libby then rammed herself into the Clefable, causing the Fairy Pokémon to get blown back.

"Clefable!" Nina cried.

The Fairy Pokémon staggered back on its feet and stood ready, even though that blow took a lot from it.

"We got your back, Nina and Clefable!" Eric said, "Use Sludge Bomb!"

Krookodile gaped its mouth open and hurled up filthy sludge.

"Hidden Power!" I said.

When Libby charged her attack, the energy turned into a large star.

What in the...?

Libby then launched her attack at the Krookodile, nullifying the Sludge Bomb. The Krookodile was then blown back and didn't get back up.

"What was that?" I asked.

"Era, Libby just learned Last Resort!" Kat said happily.

Last Resort...?

"It's a move that becomes more powerful if you use your other moves first," Kat explained, "We could win this!"

I turned back to the Clefable and grinned.

"Yeah... Alright, Shadow Ball!" I said.

"Shadow Ball as well!" Kat cried.

Libby and Angel sprinted to the Clefable and fired shadowy blobs at it.

"Magical Leaf!" Nina cried.

The Clefable let out a cry before firing glowing leaves at the Shadow Balls, completely canceling them out.

"Double Swift!" Kat and I said in unison.

Libby and Angel flipped in the air and released star-shaped rays.

"Use Swift as well!" Nina said.

Clefable opened its mouth and fired similar star-shaped rays that canceled out our attack.

"Quick Attack!" I cried.

Libby let out a cry before sprinting up to the Clefable.

"Freeze it with Ice Beam!" Nina said.

Clefable gaped its mouth open and let out another icy-cold energy beam.

"Hyper Voice!" Kat ordered.

Following her trainer's command, Angel let out a loud shout. Like before, the attack got rid of the Ice Beam, stunned the Clefable, and propelled Libby forward.

"Now! Last Resort!" I cried.

Libby channeled her energy once more into a large star. When she fired it at the Clefable, it got blown back into the already unconscious Krookodile.

"We did it!" Kat and I cried happily.

Libby and Angel returned to us and cried happily. The two of us walked up to Nina and Eric and smiled. I reached into my back and handed the two trainers a Sitrus Berry.

"For Clefable and Krookodile." I said.

Nina and Eric smiled and thanked me.

"You guys were amazing. The way you protected Krookodile from the attack while it was still charging up his Focus Blast was great." I said.

"Thanks, but you guys had better teamwork than us." Eric confessed.

"Yeah! The way you used Hyper Voice as a boost and attack nullifier was genius!" Nina complimented.

"Thanks. We didn't really plan for that to happen. It just... happened." Kat said with a chuckle.

Chuckling along with her, the four of us walked inside the Pokémon Center to heal our Pokémon.

"So, are you guys native to Ezonia?" I asked.

"I am, but Eric here is from the Unova region," Nina said, "I'm from Maidbury City."

"Unova, huh? That's far from what I hear," Kat said, "And I'm assuming Maidbury City is a little treat of its own?"

Nina nodded with a grin on her face.

"It's the second-largest city in Ezonia. It's famous for its dairy-based foods, especially its ice cream!" Nina said excitedly.

"I had their ice cream when I was younger. It's delicious," I said, "My grandmother used to take me there all the time in the summer."

"Who's your grandmother?" Eric asked.

I turned to the boy and smiled.

"Elise." I answered earnestly.

"Elise!? The Elise of the Ezonia Elite Four? She's your grandmother!?" Nina asked in utter shock.

"She sure is. My dream is to become a strong Dragon-type trainer like her someday," I explained, "That's why I'm traveling Ezonia to catch and train different Dragon-type Pokémon or Pokémon that evolve into Dragon-types. When I complete my journey here in Ezonia, I want to travel the world to find other Dragon-type Pokémon."

Eric and Nina smiled when they heard about my dream.

"We're the same then, Eragona," Nina said, "My dream is to become a Fairy-type trainer like my mother, Rachel."

"Your mother is Maidbury City's Gym Leader?" I asked in surprise.

Nina smiled and nodded.

"My dream is to travel the world to learn about every Pokémon I encounter." Eric said.

"Mine is to learn about their abilities and test their strength, as well as meet as many cute Pokémon as I can!" Kat said.

"Guess our dreams and goals are similar in one way or another." I said.

The other three agreed.

That's crazy how our dreams are identical like fate brought us together.

"Hey, I've got an idea! Why don't we all travel Ezonia together?" I suggested, "Nina and I are already natives here, so we can be your guys' personal tour guides."

"I like the idea." Kat said.

"No objections from me." Eric said.

"Yeah, and maybe we can help one another's dreams come true together!" Nina said.

The others and I agreed with the redhead. Once we were given back our Pokémon, we exited the Pokémon Center and made our way to the town's exit.

"So, what's the next stop after Texlajara Town?" Eric asked.

"My home, Maidbury City!" Nina said excitedly, "We have to travel through Divinus Forest to get there. Follow me; I know the quickest way through the forest."

Nodding to the redhead, Eric, Kat, and I followed Nina to Divinus Forest.

Kat, Eric, Nina, and me. The four of us traveling the far reaches of the Ezonia region to fulfill our dreams and accomplish our goals. What wonders await us on the journey ahead? I can't wait to find out!
