And We're Live

After camping out on the side of the road, the six of us started heading south to Goldenrod City, where Yelena's fashion expo will take place.

"So, what does it say about Goldenrod City?" Elsu asked.

I pulled out my phone and scrolled through the articles until I reached one about Goldenrod City.

"It says here that Goldenrod City is the largest city in Johto and one of the largest cities in the world," I said, "Goldenrod is the center of the region's economy and telecommunications."

"There are a ton of places to visit in Goldenrod as well, like the Game Corner, Radio Tower, the Magnet Train, the Department Store, the Underground, and the gym," Eric chimed in, "Many call it a mini Johto due to its immense size and places of interest."

"Wow! I wonder where the exhibition is going to take place." Rina said.

"Well, let's get to steppin'!" Kat said, "We're not gonna find out by walking at this pace!"

With a grin, Kat and Angel started jogging ahead of us.

"Wait for us, Kat!" Elsu said, sprinting after her.

I promptly rolled my eyes before looking back at the others.

"Let's catch up to them before they get lost." I jokingly said.

Sharing a nod, the others and I sprinted after Kat and Elsu.

If Goldenrod City's the largest city in Johto, it shouldn't be that hard to spot.

Coming up on the hill, we marveled at the sprawling metropolis in front of us. The coast was lined with a beautiful beach and many docks.

"This is Goldenrod City!?" Eric questioned in awe.

"It sure is!" Nina said, "Wow, it's so big!"

"I can see why it's named the largest city in Johto!" I said, "Look at the size of it!"

With smiles, we walked down the hill and entered the city. We gawked at the numerous towering buildings as we strolled through.

This city's incredible! It has to be bigger than Gladiolus City, and that's saying something!

"Are you seeing this, Libby?" I asked.

Libby happily cried out as she craned her head upward to see the top of the buildings.

"Let's stick together; so we don't get lost," Nina said, "We're not in Ezonia anymore."

Nodding to our friend, we huddled closer together as we roamed the streets of Goldenrod City.

"Y'know, this city reminds me of Castelia City back home," Eric commented, "It's the largest city in Unova, just like how Goldenrod is the largest in Johto."

"And like how Gladiolus is the largest city in Ezonia." I said.

"Same for Lumiose City in the Kalos region." Rina chimed in.

"It sounds like every region has its fair share of the largest city," Elsu said, "I can't wait to explore them all!"

"Let's focus on getting through this large city first," Kat chuckled, "What do you guys wanna visit first?"

Looking around, I saw that we were coming up on a tall building. Pacing in front of the building was a young woman with crimson red hair wearing a green turtleneck sweater.

"Maybe we can ask her what this place is." I suggested.

"Good idea." Kat said.

Walking up to the lady, I could see that she wore a worried expression on her face.

Wonder what's the matter...

"Excuse me, miss." I began.

The woman stopped pacing and turned to face us. I saw that she had dark brown eyes shielded by glasses.

"Is everything alright?" I asked.

She sighed and shook her head.

"No, it's not!" she said, "I was due to have an interview with a trainer who promised to come, but he's nowhere in sight! My show is starting soon, and I have nothing to show for it!"

Show? Interview?

"Is this the Goldenrod Radio Tower?" Kat asked.

"Sure is!" the lady said, "Ugh, this is a disaster! Where is he?"

I turned to the others, and they nodded. Grinning back at them, I walked up to the panicking woman.

"Well, why don't I fill in for the missing trainer?" I suggested.

The lady looked at me, and her expression changed from worry to excitement.

"Really?" she asked enthusiastically.

"Sure, right, Libby?" I asked, glancing at my partner.

Libby hopped on my head and happily cried out, agreeing with me.

"Thank you so much!" she said, "Name's DJ Mary! I interview trainers for Poké Talk Radio."

"I know that show!" Kat said, "I try to catch it when I get the chance. I had no idea we'd be standing in front of the studio where it broadcasts!"

DJ Mary nodded with a kind smile.

"You and your friends can follow me inside." she said

The six of us follow the redhead inside and are amazed at the equipment and studios around us.

So this is what it's like to be in a radio station, huh? I know Zloria Studios has a few radio studios and stations in its building; I've never visited one in person. This is so cool!

As we followed DJ Mary, I took out my phone and called my grandmother.

"Eragona, hello!" Grandma Eli said, "How's everything going?"

"Great!" I said, "I just volunteered to be interviewed for a radio show here in Johto!"

"Sweetheart, that's wonderful! I'm guessing it's Poké Talk Radio?"

"Sure is!"

"This is gonna be great practice for you when you become an Elite Four member, Era!" Nina said, "All the interviews and meet and greets; this must be fate!"

I chuckled as I shook my head fondly.

"It's not like that at all, Nina," I deadpanned, "It's just a normal interview."

Grandma Eli chuckled at my response.

"Well, you can be sure that I will be listening, as well as the other Elite Four members," she said, "Good luck, honey!"

After saying goodbye, we walked into a large studio. Inside was the studio crew managing the control panel. Sitting on a loveseat was a man with brownish-black hair, his eyes shielded by black glasses. He wore white pants with a pink top and a red suit jacket with stars. He turned to us, and a relieved smile appeared on his face. The man got up and skipped over to us.

"Mary, you're back!" he said excitedly.

"Sure am, and sadly, I don't think that trainer's coming," DJ Mary said.

"Oh, dear! That's terrible!"

"But have no fear, sir! This young trainer volunteered to take his place!"

DJ Mary placed a hand on my shoulder with a smile.

"Eragona, meet the producer of Poké Talk Radio." DJ Mary said.

I smiled as I bowed to the producer.

"Thank you, my dear!" he said, "All you have to do is answer the questions DJ Mary asks you. Think you can do that?"

"Definitely! Right, Libby?" I asked.

Libby let out a cry as she wagged her tail. DJ Mary soon led me into the sound booth and directed me to sit. I removed Libby from my head and placed her in my lap.

This will be my first-ever interview. Gosh, thinking about it now, I'm a little nervous.

When a man outside gave a thumbs-up, DJ Mary started talking.

"Rise and shine, Goldenrod City! I'm DJ Mary here on PokéRadio with a trainer all the way from the Ezonia region," DJ Mary said, "Please welcome Eragona and her Eevee!"

I took a deep breath before speaking.

"Hello, everyone!" I began, "Thank you so much for having me!"

Libby smiled as she let out a friendly cry.

"So, Eragona, what's a foreigner like you doing in the Johto region?" DJ Mary asked.

"I'm here because of my good friend, Rina. Yelena had invited us to come," I explained.

"The famed fashion icon Yelena?!"

"Yeah! My friend Rina is a designer, and Yelena wanted to show off her designs for her fashion expo in a few days. My other friends and I are Rina's models."

DJ Mary was left speechless.

"Wow, just... wow! That's amazing! You must be really happy for your friend!" DJ Mary said.

"I am! It's always been her dream to showcase her designs, and now her dream is coming true!" I said.

Libby smiled as she happily cried out.

"So, what about you?" DJ Mary asked, "What're your dreams? Your goals and aspirations?"

"My dreams?" I parroted, "My dream is to become a powerful Dragon-type trainer like my grandmother, Elise,"

"You're the granddaughter of Ezonia's Dragon-type Elite Four member?!"

"Sure am! She and her Pokémon raised me for as long as I can remember. Something about Dragon-type Pokémon just captivated me, and my grandmother's strength and command over them inspired me to become a Dragon specialist, too!"

DJ Mary smiled with a firm nod.

"So, what Pokémon do you have on you right now?" DJ Mary asked.

"My Eevee here, Garchomp, Charizard, Dragonair, and Altaria," I replied.

"Almost a full team."

"I'm hoping to catch some more Dragon-type Pokémon while staying here in Johto."

"Have you heard of the Pokémon called Kingdra?"

"Yes! I'm hoping to catch one and add it to my team!"

Libby let out a cry, wagging her tail with a smile.

"Well, good luck on your journey, Eragona!" DJ Mary said, "We'll be rooting for you! And that's a wrap."

I exhaled a heavy sigh and slumped in my seat.

That was a lot easier than I had expected.

"So, how did it feel being interviewed?" DJ Mary asked.

"I was a bit nervous at first, but it soon felt natural." I said.

Standing up, I followed DJ Mary out of the sound booth. My friends applauded with wide grins on their faces.

"You did great, Eragona!" Kat said, "All of Johto knows you now, girl!"

"Thanks for talking about me, Era," Rina said, "It means a lot,"

"Of course!" I said, "All of Johto's gonna know your name in a few days!"

"Our names! When we finish the fashion expo, Johto will know our names!"

We smiled and nodded in agreement.

"You're Elite Four material, Eragona!" Eric said, "You tackled that interview like it was nothing!"

"If you can handle interviews like this, you'll do just fine with bigger interviews in the future!" Elsu said.

"Agreed!" the others said.

Libby, Angel, and Snubbull happily cried out, agreeing with Elsu's statement. A sheepish smile appeared on my face.

"Thank you so much for being a part of our show!" the producer said, "I'd love for you and your friends to be a part of our next segment that we have planned for today!"

"What do you say, guys?" I asked.

The others smiled and nodded.

"We'd love to!" they said.

The producer had us be in a radio drama for the remainder of the day, and it was enjoyable! Kat and I played the roles of lady knights with our trusted Garchomp and Goodra. Rina was a princess, Eric was the king, Nina was the queen, and Elsu was the leader of a gang of bandits that kidnapped the princess. These bandits plagued the kingdom, and it was our duty to rescue the princess and rid the kingdom of the band of bandits.

Even though we've been doing this for a few hours, I think the others and I make great radio stars!
