A New Member from the Past
"Welcome to Divinus Forest, everyone!" Nina proclaimed.
Looking ahead, the tall trees bowed their heads over the lit path, rays of the afternoon sun breaking through the canopy.
"Follow me. I know a shortcut." Nina said.
"Lead the way, Nina." Kat said.
The redhead nodded and led us into the forest. Once we walked in, there was a large variety of Flying-type and Grass-type Pokémon: Pidgeotto, Hoothoot, Swellow, Pidove, Vileplume, Jumpluff, and Tropius; the forest was bursting with energy.
"When I was little, I would come out here to play with the Pokémon all the time," Nina explained, "I heard rumors that Celebi sometimes roams the deeper parts of the Divinus Forest."
"Celebi? The Mythical Pokémon that can time travel?" Kat asked.
"Yeah, I heard those rumors as well. A friend of my grandmother says that Divinus Forest is so abundant because Celebi visits it so frequently." I said.
"Now that I can believe. I'm not native here, but the forests back where I'm from are rich in vegetation," Eric commented, "I wouldn't be surprised if it were Celebi's doing."
To think that a Mythical Pokémon could be roaming Divinus Forest. I'd love to meet it someday, or any Mythical Pokémon, for that matter!
The sound of the many bird Pokémon singing and chirping made the walk through the forest all the more peaceful.
"We're not in any rush, are we? Why don't we take a break and relax?" Kat suggested, "Our Pokémon could run around and play while we get to know each other better."
Eric, Nina, and I stopped and nodded to Kat with smiles. Taking out our Pokéballs, we tossed them into the air and released our Pokémon. That's when I noticed Nina and Eric's other Pokémon. Not only did Eric have a Krookodile, but he also had a Tranquill, Escavalier, and Samurott. Along with her Clefable, Nina had a Floette and Mawile.
"Whoa, quite the collection you have, you two." I said.
"Thanks. I hope we go through a cave or mine 'cause I'm looking for a Shiny Stone to evolve my Floette into Florges." Nina explained.
"Both Floette and Florges are native to Kalos, right, Kat?" Eric asked.
"Spot on, Eric." Kat said.
I smiled as I watched the little Pokémon float around, gripping its red flower. Taking out my Pokédex, I scanned the small, flower-holding Pokémon.
"Floette, the Single Bloom Pokémon. When the flowers of a well-tended flower bed bloom, it appears and celebrates with an elegant dance."
"She's adorable." I said.
"Thanks. Caught her when she was a Flabébé." Nina said.
I nodded as all our Pokémon began to play with each other and the forest Pokémon. Their happy smiles made me smile. That's when Libby walked up to me with a grin, all while wagging her tail. Beaming, I picked her up and placed her on my shoulder. Looking up, I began scaling a tall tree behind me.
"Careful up there, Era!" Kat said.
"Don't worry! I've always climbed trees in the woods behind my grandmother's house!" I said.
Once I reached a thick branch, I breathed a content sigh as I sat down. Libby hopped off my shoulder and happily sat in between my legs. Smiling down at my Pokémon, I petted the small, brown head. Looking up, the afternoon sun gleamed. Hearing the other Pokémon, I looked down and smiled at their playfulness. I leaned my head back on the trunk and blissfully closed my eyes.
This is the life... Chilling in a peaceful forest with friends... What could be better?
That's when I heard Libby's frantic cries. Opening my eyes, they widened at the sight. A small green Pokémon with large blue eyes stared longingly at me. I rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn't dreaming.
I'm not dreaming at all... There's no doubt about it...
"Celebi..." I mumbled.
The small Pokémon smiled and did a flip in mid-air. Libby smiled and let out a friendly cry; Celebi returned the gesture. I then took out my Pokédex and scanned the Pokémon before me.
"Celebi, the Time Travel Pokémon. It has the power to travel across time, but it is said to appear only in peaceful times. Grass and trees flourish in the forests in which it has appeared."
"I can't believe I'm face to face with a Mythical Pokémon," I said, "Did you really help make Divinus Forest so abundant?"
The Time Travel Pokémon nodded with a smile. I chuckled and slumped back against the tree trunk.
So that means the rumors about Celebi helping and inhabiting the forest were all true...
"Is everything okay, Celebi?" I asked.
The Pokémon's smile fell, and it shook its head.
"What's wrong?" I asked, my voice full of concern.
That's when Celebi lifted Libby and me off the branch using Psychic.
"Whoa! What are you doing?" I asked.
When Celebi started flying deeper into the forest, Libby and I were dragged behind it.
"Where are you taking us?" I asked.
The small Pokémon let out a cry before stopping in front of a large tree. Celebi then let us down in front of the tree and let out a firm cry. Libby leaped on my shoulder and let out a cry.
"Wait. Libby, what did Celebi say?" I asked.
That's when Libby and I started glowing.
"Uh... Libby...? Celebi...?" I asked.
My vision soon became cloudy and bright. Closing my eyes, I felt as if I was being whisked away.
What's going on...?
When the light faded, I opened my eyes to see that we were still in the forest in front of the large tree.
"What happened?" I asked.
Checking my surroundings, everything looked normal, except that the forest was darker.
"Celebi, what happened? Where are we?" I asked, "Did we just... travel back in time...?"
Celebi smiled and nodded.
Whoa... I time-traveled...! That's amazing!
"But wait. Why did we travel back in time?" I asked.
Celebi made a gesture for Libby and me to follow it. With my partner on my shoulder, we reluctantly followed Celebi through the forest.
Where is Celebi leading us...?
That's when we came across a cave. Following the Time Travel Pokémon inside, my eyes widened at the sight. In front of me was an injured Swablu. Its wings had large bruises and a bump on its head, and it looked sick. I dropped to my knees and reached my hand out to the Swablu. The little Pokémon hopped back and let out a strained cry.
"It's okay, little one. I'm here to help you..." I said softly.
Celebi floated down next to the Swablu and let out multiple cries. Libby jumped down and did the same. The Swablu staggered up to me and let out a sad cry. Looking down at the injured Pokémon made me want to burst into tears.
What could've happened to you...?
I reached my hand out to the small Pokémon, and it flinched.
"I'm not going to hurt you... I promise..." I said softly.
The Swablu let out a small cry and inched close to my hand. Once my fingers grazed against one of its wings, the Swablu let out a painful cry.
"I'm sorry...!" I cried regrettably.
Darn it! I'm just making things worse...
The Swablu looked up and inched closer to me. It then placed its head on my palm. I smiled and brought my other hand around it, only to pick it up and cradle the small Pokémon in my arms. Libby leaped up on my shoulder and stared down at the Swablu.
"We have to get it to a Pokémon Center." I said.
Walking out of the cave, Celebi floated in front of us and raised its small arms. That's when the four of us started glowing and became engulfed in light. When the light died down, we stood in front of the cave, but the forest was much lighter.
"My friends! I have to get back to my friends!" I told Celebi.
Celebi nodded and started zooming through the forest. I clutched the small Pokémon to my chest as I raced after the Time Travel Pokémon.
"Eragona! Where are you?" I heard Kat cry.
"I'm over here!" I cried.
When I arrived, Kat, Nina, and Eric ran up to me.
"Where were you?" Eric asked.
"You won't believe it, guys. Libby and I were with..." I began as I turned around.
When I looked behind me, the Time Travel Pokémon was gone.
"Celebi..." I said.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa... You're saying that you not only saw Celebi, but you were also with it?" Nina asked.
I nodded.
"We'll talk about that later, guys," Eric said, "We have an injured Pokémon on our hands."
I breathed out a sigh and looked down at the Swablu.
"Nina, how far are we away from Maidbury City?" I asked.
"Not far. Come on!" she said.
Returning our Pokémon to their Pokéballs, we followed the redhead out of the forest. Once we got out, Maidbury City became visible.
Just how I remember it. Everything has a pastel or pale color to it.
When I saw the Pokémon Center, I dashed in front of Nina and burst through the doors.
"Nurse Joy! We need your help!" I cried frantically.
Nurse Joy and Chansey came from behind the counter and rushed up to me. I showed her the Swablu and looked up at Nurse Joy.
"Can you help?" I asked.
Nurse Joy took the Swablu from my hands and nodded firmly.
"Of course. Chansey?" Nurse Joy asked, looking down.
The Egg Pokémon let out a firm cry and nodded. The pair walked back behind the counter and into the back room. My breathing became quick and sharp. Kat noticed this and placed a hand on my shoulder.
"It's going to be okay, Era. The Swablu's going to be just fine." Kat reassured.
I looked back at my friend and sighed. Libby chirped out a cry and rubbed her cheek against mine. Her fuzziness made me smile. Breathing out a heavy sigh, I walked over to a bench and sat down. Libby hopped off my shoulder and landed next to me, only to pat my thigh. I smiled down at my partner and patted her head.
Swablu is going to be alright...
Two hours passed, and Swablu hadn't come out yet. Worry and guilt crashed over me like a wave.
Was I... too late...?
That's when Nurse Joy walked out. I got up and walked up to her.
"So? How is it? How's Swablu? " I asked frantically.
The others walked up to my side with the same concerned expression.
"I'm pleased to announce that Swablu has fully recovered!" Nurse Joy said with a smile.
All of us breathed out sighs of relief.
"If it wasn't for you, I don't even want to begin to imagine what could've happened..." Nurse Joy said.
Chansey eventually walked out with Swablu in its hands. The Swablu leaped out of Chansey's arms and flew over to us with happy cries.
"Thank goodness..." I said, "I'm so glad you're okay, Swablu." I said.
Libby let out a friendly cry, and Swablu returned it. That's when the Swablu rested on top of my hat and chirped its cry.
"I think Swablu is thanking you for saving it." Kat said, smiling.
"Well, if it weren't for Celebi taking me to it, I wouldn't have been able to." I said.
"Wait, yeah. I'm still on the fact that you met Celebi." Nina said.
"So, what happened? Did you time travel?" Eric asked.
I chuckled and nodded my head.
"We most certainly did, right, you two?" I asked.
Libby and Swablu answered with cheerful cries. Swablu soon got off my hat and perched itself on my free shoulder, only to let out a chirp-like cry.
"I think Swablu wants to join you, Era." Nina said.
"Really?" I asked, looking at the small Pokémon, "Is that true?"
The Swablu unfurled its wings and flapped them happily. I chuckled as I removed the Swablu from my shoulder and placed it on the floor. I took out a Pokéball and crouched in front of the Swablu. I held out the Pokéball and tapped it on the Swablu's head. The ball opened and took in the Swablu. The ball moved around in my hand before it stopped with a red light flashing.
A new member of the team and family...
"Swablu, come on out!" I said, aiming the Pokéball at the ground.
The ball opened, and Swablu came out with a friendly cry.
"Welcome to the team, Swablu." I said.
Libby hopped off my shoulder and welcomed Swablu with a happy cry; Swablu did the same.
"Welcome, Swablu!" Kat said.
"You are so cute! I know we're going to have loads of fun!" Nina said.
"You'll be a battler in no time." Eric said.
Swablu bounced up and down, flapping its wings happily, all while chirping its cry.
"Now, what should I call you...?" I wondered aloud.
After a while, I snapped my fingers.
"I know! Kaiba! How does that sound?" I asked.
The Swablu fluttered its wings and let out a happy cry.
"Kaiba it is, then!" I said.
Kaiba hopped on my head and chirped its cry once more. I stood up and bowed before Nurse Joy and Chansey.
"Thank you so much, Nurse Joy and Chansey." I said earnestly.
"Anytime!" Nurse Joy said with a smile.
Waving goodbye, the four of us left the Pokémon Center with smiles and a new team member. Something told me to look on the Pokémon Center's roof, and when I did, I saw Celebi smiling down at me.
Maybe Celebi saw a future where Kaiba would be taken care of, and she will be.
Libby, Kaiba, and I waved at Celebi, and it returned the gesture. That's when it blinked away with a smile. Turning back to my friends, their eyes were wide.
Yeah, they saw Celebi...
"Now, do you believe me?" I asked.
"Fully!" the trio said.
I chuckled and looked at Kaiba to see her taking in her new surroundings.
The third member of my team is a Swablu, and I wouldn't have gotten her without Celebi's help. Don't worry, Celebi. I'll make sure Kaiba is taken care of just how you envisioned it...
