Step Two

Step Two: Become friends.

"Ellie!" I heard a girly voice say, I turned around recognizing my best friend, Evangeline Cooper—mostly known as Eva.

She was my best friend, came from a wealthy family, only child, and a known person around school due to her amazing acting skills.

"Girl, I missed you! Oh my God, do you believe we're Seniors now? It's my first day and it feels so surreal!" Eva said, happy like a kid receiving candy.

"Yeah, that's because you did not come to school on the actual first day, like everyone else," I said, interrupting her excitement.

She looked at me and frowned.

"You kill my happiness," she said. I shrugged and said, "That's my job."

We both start laughing, and I felt a tap on my shoulder.

I saw Eva's cheeks blush a little, and, confused, I turned around. Only did I see a boy with messy brown hair and amazing green eyes.

"Matthew? Uh, did you need anything?" I asked. "Not really, uh, one of your bracelets came off as you walked near my locker, so I picked it up, and well, here it is," he said, giving me my purple bracelet.

"Oh, thanks," I responded, grabbing my bracelet from his hand, my fingers touching his palm ever so gently that I almost did not feel his skin, if it was not for a strange feeling I had in my stomach when I did.

"No problem," he smiled lightly, "See you in Chemistry."

And with that, he walked away towards his locker.

I turned around to my frozen best friend. "Earth to Eva," I said, snapping my fingers in front of her face.

She shook her head. "Who is that handsome, nice-booty guy?" She said, shaking me by the shoulders.

I chuckled, "Matthew Ackerman from my Chemistry and Art class."

"Well, I would totally share my electrons with him while I paint his dazzling eyes," I placed my hand on her forehead as she finished saying this, in order to know if she was all right.

"Girl, you're crazy," I said, realizing how weird she was.

She shrugged it off as the bell rang and another day at school started. As I went to the Chemistry lab, she parted towards her first class, History.

At the end of the day, another uneventful day had gone by, and Eva gave me a ride home.

Apparently, we were having a sleepover without me knowing until she had taken a shower at my house and put her pajamas on.

"So, Matthew Ackerman, aye?" She said, sitting on my bed, while I checked out my social media on my laptop.

"What about him?" "You like him, don't you?" I furrowed my eyebrows, "No."

I did not see her, yet I felt her roll her eyes. "Whatever," she then said.

*Pop!* New friend request.

I clicked on the friend requests and it actually didn't shock me who it was from—Matthew Ackerman.

I accepted it.

"But, I mean, I'm curious. What are you guys?" Eva said, getting up from my bed.

"We just became friends, I guess."

He met you.
