The Way He Looks- Chapter 3
A/N:
Okay, so about what I said where this whole phic is going to be pretty much exactly like the movie. Yeah, I'm not so sure it actually will. It'll definitely stay on that plot line but I have a few ideas of my own that I may or may not include. It all depends on how this plays out. Nonetheless, here's chapter three of The Way He Looks for you to enjoy!

The next day Dan was more than excited to head back into that classroom. He didn’t know why, but he’d had Phil in his mind the entire past night. The boy just seemed different, and it was a good kind of different. Phil talked to Dan first, and that was already unusual, but when he didn’t make any comments on Dan’s disability, that did it.
But, Dan had to control himself. He always did this when this kind of opportunity came around. He’d always get too attached to the person at an uncomfortably fast pace, and the person would get scared off. It wasn’t Dan’s fault, he just craved the attention so many others seemed to have.
Dan’s only friend was PJ, and any chance he got to make a new friend, he grabbed at it. Nobody ever wanted to talk to Dan, and Dan wasn’t such a social butterfly himself so if someone talked to Dan first, he’d go out of his way to get to know them. But, Dan actually liked Phil, he didn’t seem to be the kind of person who only talked to Dan because he felt bad for him.
Phil could’ve easily partnered up with any other guy in the class, but instead he chose the weird blind kid. And, that’s what got Dan’s attention. For the whole night, Dan thought over their conversation, hoping he didn’t scare Phil just by saying hi and letting him know he was blind. He was over thinking the situation more than he should’ve been, but he couldn’t help it. He really wanted to be friends with Phil.

That time of day came around and Dan quickly guided himself to the classroom, rushing into at least twenty other students. He sat in his usual seat, tapping his foot impatiently. He heard someone enter the room and straightened his posture. “Thanks for waiting,” he heard the voice announce before slouching back down into his seat.
“Sorry,” Dan muttered as he listened to PJ shuffle around, “Just wanted to get to class a little early.” The other students began to file into the room and Dan once again propped himself up. He waited for the sound of movement to come from behind him, but there was nothing.
Mr. Leto eventually began talking and Dan slumped his shoulders. “Alright class, so I’ll let you get off to your projects but first I’ll be doing attendance,” Mr. Leto announced, “And also, since some of you weren’t mature enough to pick your own god or goddess, I’ll be assigning them for you.” The class groaned collectively, Dan included. He really wanted to do Hecate, the goddess of magic, night, moon, ghosts, necromancy, and crossroads.
Mr. Leto began to call out names of students, every student calling out to announced their presence. But, once gotten to Phil there was nothing. “Phillip?” Mr. Leto called out, “Phillip Lester?” There was silence and Dan sighed quietly. “Alright Dan, guess you’ll be doing some of the work on your own tod-”
“I’m here!” someone suddenly barged through the door and Dan smiled slightly, “Sorry I’m late, I got held up at the office.” Dan waited for a few seconds before hearing Phil sit behind him and feeling a tap on his shoulder. “You didn’t think I’d leave you alone to finish this project on your own, did you?” Dan grinned and shook his head as Mr. Leto continued.
“Alright, so now to assigning your topics,” Mr. Leto spoke and the class continued to mutter disappointingly. “He’s choosing our goddess?” Dan felt Phil’s breath near his ear, “I really wanted to do Hecate.” Dan raised his eyebrows before nodding, “Yeah, me too.”
Mr. Leto eventually got to Dan and Phil and the two of them watched him in anticipation. “Dan and Phil,” Mr. Leto mumbled, “You’ll be doing Aphrodite, the goddess of love.” Dan and Phil groaned before Dan heard Michael call out, “Perfect opportunity for Dan to get to know his new boyfriend!” Dan slid down into his seat before hearing Phil whisper, “Ignore him, he’s just mad because he can’t have you for himself.” That immediately brought up Dan’s spirit and he nodded his head, a small grin back on his lips.
“Alright class, off to your projects now,” Mr. Leto said before the class broke into chatter.

The class ended and Dan frowned as he heard everyone around him gathering their papers. PJ said bye to his partner before turning to Dan. “Sucks not being able to work with you,” PJ mumbled, “I got stolen before I could even ask you.” Dan nodded his head as he moved his foot around to find his bag.
“This is Phil by the way,” Dan said and listened as the two of them had their exchange of greetings and small talk. The bell soon rang and everybody filed out the room, leaving only the three of them and Mr. Leto. “Um Dan,” PJ spoke quietly, “I actually have a doctors appointment to go to so are you okay going on your own?”
“Yeah, no problem,” Dan nodded before he felt PJ wrapping his arms around him and hearing him rush out the room. “Actually, how far do you live from here?” Phil suddenly spoke up, making Dan jump a little. “Only about five minutes away,” Dan stirred in his seat, “Not too far.”
“Great,” Phil smiled, “I live around here too, so I can take you home. If you want, that is.” Dan smiled before nodding and getting up, his bag slung over his shoulder. “Yeah,” Dan agreed, “Yeah that’ll be great.” And, just as Dan finish speaking, he felt Phil’s cold hand grasp his and lace it through his arm. “Ready?” Phil asked before Dan grinned and nodded, Phil practically pulling him out of the room.
