Chapter 9: To the Labyrinth!

Morro gently wakes you up the next morning. "Time to get up, sweetheart. You've got work to do."

You groan and open one eye, then close it again. "Just five more minutes." You mumble blearily.

"Fine. I can wait that long." He says. You assume he'll just leave and then come back and fetch you. Instead, he sits down onto your bed and starts to gently stroke your hair. The sweet action surprises you so much that you jolt awake. You're still suspicious of him, but you can't deny the fact that you like him. That doesn't mean that I trust him. You remind yourself firmly. You sigh. I guess I should get up though. Shame. I must admit, this feels pleasant, and I'm rather enjoying the attention. You gather yourself and stand up. "Okay. I'm ready."

When you step outside, the sun is just beginning to rise above the treetops. The sky is becoming a brilliant blue, and the ground is warming up beneath your feet. It's a beautiful day to be alive, (or in the ghosts' case, outside), but it feels like the world is mocking you. My worst fear is coming true. Morro's kissed me, I've fallen for him, and now he's about to use me. I'm such a fool! You want to cry, but you don't. You hate it when people see your tears, and you're not letting these ghosts know that your heart is broken. It feels frozen, and you feel cold and numb.

Morro joins you just then, looking positively cheerful. He smiles at you and kisses your hand in a charming old-fashioned gesture, and he seems to be humming something under his breath.

"You look to be in an excellent mood, master." Bansha offers tentatively. Morro winks at you. "Oh, I had a very enjoyable evening, Bansha. Now, we'd best be going. It's about time we got this over with." He says, glancing in your direction. Get rid of me, once you get what you want, huh, Morro?

"Will she do as you ask?" Says a tall ghost, who is holding a bow, and has a quiver of arrows strapped to his back. You assume he is Soul Archer. Morro looks at you, but it is Bansha who answers. "Of course she will. She couldn't refuse master anything." She hisses pointedly. She knows that he kissed me! Somehow, that knowledge makes you fear for your life.

But Bansha is right. You'll do anything that Morro wants. You nod quietly.

"Good." Morro nods curtly. "Then we will go now." The ghosts all step into the warehouse, and when they return, they each have a vehicle. Some are cars, some are motorcycles, some you aren't quite sure what they are, but they are all ghostly-looking, as if the vehicles themselves are possessed.

"You're with me." Morro tells you, jumping onto a motorcycle. He grabs your hand and firmly pulls you up behind him. He guns the motor, and you have no choice but to wrap your arms around his waist, and you know that he's grinning. You have to admit, he's got a perfectly toned body, muscular and fit. You can feel it especially well as he revs the motor and turns the bike toward the distant treeline and his body tautens. You hold onto him tighter as he accelerates, and before you know it, you reach the trees. As you approach the first one, you're alarmed to see that Morro doesn't seem to be trying to avoid it. Instead, he's completely ignoring it. Ohmygosh! He's going to go right through!..

"Morro, I'm not a ghost!" You yell, hoping to be heard above the roar of the bikes' motor. He hears you at the last possible moment, and the tree whizzes by you a hairs' breadth from your face. Morro brings the cycle to a stop.

"Sorry, I forgot that you can't pass through things. Are you OK?" He asks you, looking concerned.

"I'm fine. Just.. give me a second." You answer, holding up a finger for pause, gasping.

After you recover from your near-fatal scare, you look around. "What is this place?"

Morro gestures around dramatically. "YN, welcome to Hiroshis' Labyrinth."
