Chapter 33: Standoff
YNs' POV:
"You're becoming a ghost, YN!" Morro says.
"B-But I'm not dead!" You cry out.
"Different Realm, different rules." He murmurs.
"She cannot resist the nature of this place. The only reason that she lasted this long without changing is because she is an Elemental Master. But very soon, the transformation will be complete, and I'll finally be rid of her."
"Why didn't you tell me?" You blurt out.
"Did I not mention that? What a shame." She turns to Morro. "This Realm will claim her as its own, Morro."
"Oh no, it won't. Because we're leaving. Right now."
Vivienne gives him a sad look and disappears.
"Whoever said that I'd be letting her leave? Or you, for that matter?" She takes a threatening step towards Morro and raises her hand in an all-too-familiar gesture.
"Take cover!" Morro yells at you.
You look around wildly. "Where?! There's nowhere to-!" You scream as an energy ball flies past your head and explodes right behind you, and you try to create one of your own in retaliation, but you can't seem to make your power obey you. Every time you draw matter to you, it grows hazy and dissipates before you can form it. That's not good...
"Blast it!" You mutter, cursing an oath that would surely make the First Spinjitzu Master turn over in his grave. You try again, but this time, the matter hardly even moves. You cast a despairing glance towards Morro. He catches it and quickly blasts Bansha with wind, drawing her attention away from you.
"Wind doesn't affect ghosts, Morro." She sneers.
"No, but this will!" He draws his Deepstone-inlaid swords out of their sheaths and lunges at her. She draws her own blade and parries them, pausing for a moment to look at his weapons.
"Deepstone?!" She hisses incredulously. "You must be very foolish, or very desperate to eliminate me."
"Very tired of you, actually."
"Your pretty friend seems to be having trouble adjusting to the fact that she is now a ghost. Maybe you should help her. After all, you went through the same thing when you passed.
Morros' face twists with rage, and he lifts his swords, preparing to strike. But Bansha strikes faster.
She slips under his raised arms and touches him on the chest, muttering a spell. He immediately stiffens and freezes in place, with Banshas' dark magic rendering him immobile. Bansha cackles gleefully and raises her sword, the dull light from the Realm glinting off the edge of her blade. Morro is completely helpless and utterly unable to defend himself from her as she pulls back... Swings.. And is suddenly thrown back by an invisible force.
"STAY AWAY FROM MY SON, WITCH!!!" Morros' mother shimmers into view, looking very angry. She picks up a fairly good fighting stance and balls her ghostly fists, ready to protect Morro.
Bansha shrieks, and Vivienne roars the roar of a mother lioness protecting her cub. Bansha stares at her in shock for a moment, and then she flies at her. Vivienne immediately turns invisible and promptly begins to poke, prod, push and punch her. Bansha screams in frustration and spins around, trying to blast her, but of course by the time Bansha sends a spell in one direction, Vivienne is already somewhere else.
Because Bansha is distracted, the spell on Morro wears off, and he can soon move again.
"We've got to help my mother!" Morro shouts.
"I know!" You reply. "The best way to help her is to leave! Are you ready?" You incline your head towards the Crystal that Bansha is clutching. Morro sighs sadly and slowly nods his head. "Then let's go back to Ninjago!"
Morro and you run up behind Bansha, and you both touch the Crystal.
"Goodbye, Momma." Morro says softly.
Vivienne nods gently at him. "Goodbye, my son."
And then you picture Ninjago, and the Ghost Bounty, and soon, you're falling through a dark void.
