Chapter 3: You're nearly killed by a cloth
When you come to, you're bound and blindfolded, sore all over, and hopping mad. How dare he kidnap you! At the same time, you're laughing to yourself. This is way too easy, you think. A few moments is all it takes. You concentrate on the ropes binding you to the chair you're sitting in, and they essentially disintegrate. You pull off the blindfold and freeze. A female ghost is looming over you, and she does not look friendly. She wears a sword, and you sense that she knows how to use it exceedingly well. You wonder if she's been there the whole time. "Who are you?" You ask.
"Bansha." She hisses, reaching for her sword. You look uneasily at it, thinking that it probably won't pass through you as painlessly as your staff went through Morro. You reach the decision that you most definitely do not want to be skewered on your off night, and you attempt to make a run for it. You don't get more than three paces before Bansha intones something that sounds like a spell, and your blindfold comes to life. It rips itself out of your grasp and flies to your throat, where it begins to strangle you. You are panicking far too much to use your power. Your vision is starting to go dark when Morro walks in. He immediately sees what's going on, Bansha chanting, and you weakly clawing at your throat.
"Leave her!" He yells at the sorceress, already running to you. You collapse against his chest, exhausted from your ordeal. The blindfold floats lifelessly to the ground. "Get out of my sight." Morro grits out from between clenched teeth. For a split second, you think he's talking to you, then you realize he is addressing Bansha.
"As you wish, master. If you're sure"...
"Get. Out." He says it with such venom, you're sure she will get a very severe telling off. She vanishes, leaving Morro holding you. Your chest is heaving, you're still greedily gulping air, but you gradually start to calm down.
"Are you OK?" He asks softly.
"What do you think? I've been kidnapped, dragged off to who-knows-where to do who-knows-what, and I've been nearly killed by a piece of fabric with a mind of its own. So no, I've been better." You say crossly, feeling extremely tired.
"You can still talk, though." He notes, a slight smile playing on his lips.
"It's not funny!" You growl, glancing up at him and catching his reaction.
"No, it's not." He agrees. "If it's any consolation, I didn't tell her to do that.
"How reassuring. If you can't control your own ghosts, how can I be sure she won't come back and finish the job?" Morro's eyes darken. You're not sure if it's because he believes you think he's inept, or because he's worried that that's exactly what Bansha will do. He stands up. "I'll leave a different ghost to guard you." He decides.
"Will this one also try to kill me?" You ask bitterly.
Morro grins. "No, it's not very likely. He's not the brightest, but he can be very entertaining." He turns to go, then spins around. "I almost forgot." He says, smirking. He slaps a pair of vengestone cuffs on your wrists. "Can't have you escaping now, can we?"
"Can I at least have my MP3 player?" You ask. Morro looks confused. "It's a compact music player." You explain. "It's the 21st century now, you know." Morro sighs. "Fine." He takes your cuffs off long enough for you to create one using your powers, then puts them back on again.
"Can I say something?" You ask. He nods. "I didn't gag you, did I?" He replies.
"Ha-ha. I just... I didn't expect someone who abducted me to be so kind."
"And I didn't expect the Master of Matter to be so beautiful." He answers. Then he exits the room, leaving you too stunned to say anything.
