Chapter 24: Written in the clouds, Part 3
Morros' POV:
"NO!!!" I scream. I concentrate every ounce of my power into a cushion of wind to stop YNs' fall and direct it towards her. I pray to the First Spinjitzu Master that my power will be strong enough to save her in time. I run to the edge of the clouds and guide the wind under her, lifting her upwards and depositing her gently beside me. I hold her in my arms and check her pulse. It's faint, but steady.
"YN?" I say, trying to wake her up. Her eyelids flutter, and then she groans and opens her eyes.
"We've got to stop meeting like this." She mumbles. "What hap-? Oh, right. Bansha. I remember now.." She says hoarsely.
"YN, your voice.."
"My throat is so sore from all the screeching that she made me do.. I'm just glad that I didn't hurt any-" She straightens up and strains to see over my shoulder. "Morro, that's not a boy, is it?"
Nobu!
YN closes her eyes briefly, attempting to recall her actions while possessed. She gasps, opens her eyes, and looks at me in horror. "I did that, didn't I, Morro? I've killed him."
"Bansha did it, not you. And I think he's still alive."
"Please, take me to him, Morro." She struggles up, and I help her over to him.
"His name's Nobu. He was assisting me in fighting Bansha, but then y- she blasted him, and he fell and knocked himself out."
YN kneels beside him and shakes him awake.
"Nobu? Nobu! Child, wake up!"
"My, that hurt. I should have brought my own scroll as well, but there was no time to get it, along with yours."
YN looks greatly relieved to see that he's alright. She hugs him warmly.
"Thank goodness you're okay! You are okay, aren't you? Nothing broken?"
"No, I'm fine, except for a slight headache."
"Good. Then we need to hunt Bansha down and-" She hits her forehead with the palm of her hand. "Ugh, I'm starting to sound like her."
"No, YN, you're right. I have to stop this."
"You mean we." YN puts a hand on my shoulder and smiles at me. I don't know why, but it makes me feel all warm inside, and I like it.
"Oh, no, YN. I forbid it. You're in no condition to fight. Besides, you'll be safe here-" She glares at me, and I trail off.
"Three points, Morro. First, I didn't become a ninja to be safe, I did it so that I could help people. Second, no matter how exhausted I am, I will fight, because that's what we must do. And third, if I stay here, it's only a matter of time before Bansha realizes that I'm still alive and comes to find me to use my power again. I'd rather take the fight to her."
Nobu speaks up just then. "I can help with the one point, at least." He picks up a scroll and quickly scribbles something onto it.
YN sighs with relief. "Thank you, Nobu."
"What did he-?" Oh, of course. He wrote away YNs' tiredness. Clever boy!
The lines around YNs' eyes have disappeared, her voice is back to normal, she's standing on her own again, with her legs no longer shaking, and I can see muscle subtly rippling under her gi. Mmm. Impressive.
YN waves her hand in front of my face. "Morro, you weren't listening to what I just said, were you?" I blink, I hadn't realized I was staring at her.
"Sorry."
"I said, we have to go back now. I'm just not sure how."
"I know a back door to Ninjago."
YN gives me a shocked look. "How?" She asks me.
"Bansha showed me once." I smirk. "I bet she didn't expect me to use it against her."
Nobu sighs in resignation and readies the skiff. "Get in."
