Chapter 17: Frenemies join together at last

Morros' POV:

Ghoul-Tar vanishes again, leaving me alone with a very upset Lloyd.

"I knew you weren't in the Departed Realm anymore, Morro. The question is, whyyy?.." He trails off as he notices that I'm cuffed and gagged. He ponders his position for a moment, then lifts my gag up with the tip of his Aeroblade. "Why are you cuffed?" He demands to know.

"..Because I like to be powerless and alone in the middle of a huge jungle Labyrinth." I say sarcastically. I can't help it, I'm just furious at Bansha, and concerned about YN.

"No need to be so snarky. Give me one good reason not to send you back to the Departed Realm right now." He says, brandishing his blade at me again.

"YN's in danger!" I blurt out.

He hesitates. "Why should I believe you?"

"I know that I hurt you, Lloyd, and you have every reason to be mistrustful of me. But I'm on your side now. Remember the Day of the Departed? I could have attacked your Uncle Wu, but I didn't. I warned you of what Yang was up to. You believed me then, believe me now."

Lloyds' eyes narrow to slits, so that only thin lines of green remain to be seen. "I hate it when you're logical." He grumbles. He makes a move to release me, but then he freezes. "Wait, how'd you know about YN?" I look at him guiltily. "Morro, what did you do?!"

"I.. might've kidnapped her and.. used her to duplicate the Realm Crystal. And then.. Bansha kind of turned on me. So then she kidnapped YN. When I tried to protect YN, that blasted sorceress did this to me."

"Why would you protect YN when you kidnapped her in the first place?" His eyes widen. "Wait a minute. Do you.. like her?!"

I avoid looking at him. "Just get me out of this, please." I mumble, blushing a dull blue.

Lloyd smirks at me. "Well, that changes everything." He releases me.

"So now you're letting me go? What changed your mind?"

Lloyds' face turns serious. "You won't be a problem. You'll be too busy trying to save her, you wouldn't risk her safety and attack us. You care about her too much for that." I don't say anything. "You're not denying it."

"No, I'm not. Now, if you'll excuse me"..

I try to leave, but Lloyd stops me. "You're going to take on Bansha all by yourself?"

"If I have to, I'll take on her entire ghost army to get YN back."

"Not alone you won't." Lloyd crosses his arms and gives me another serious look.

"You mean you're going to help me?" I'm stunned.

"She's a part of my team too, you know. My family. And by extension, so are you."

Family.

"Did someone mention us?" The red ninja known as Kai suddenly appears, dangling from a rope. He looks at me with a small amount of hostility in his eyes. "Morro." He nods curtly at me. "I heard everything. We've got to go now, Lloyd, if he's telling the truth."

"I am." I answer, as another rope for Lloyd is thrown over the side of the legendary Destinys' Bounty.

"You okay, bro?" Kai asks me.

"I'll be a lot better when I get my hands on Bansha." I reply. I see grudging admiration on Kais' face.

"Going up?" Lloyd gives a sharp whistle, and the two are pulled up onto the deck of the ship. I simply use my wind to launch myself upwards, doing a neat backflip as I land. Ghoul-Tar is there, laughing with the blue one.

"Stay focused, Jay." Calls the girl ninja from the helm of the craft.

"Sorry, Nya!" Jay yells back, and he rushes to assist her with something. The black and the white one seem to be warming up for combat. The black ninja shouts Ninjaaaa-Goooo!, creates a whirlwind made of earth and moves in to attack the other one. The white ninja cooly waits until his opponent is nearly upon him, and then quickly encases him in ice.

"Really, Zane?" The black one complains.

"My apologies, Cole. Did I harm you?"

"Nah. Just my pride, pal."

Kai walks over and thaws Cole out. "Better?"

"Yeah. Thanks."

"Fiy-aaa!" Kai sings out.

So this is what family is like. I think, my heart aching.

Lloyd comes out from inside the ship with Master Wu. "Lloyd tells me that Bansha has YN. Is this true?"

I bow respectfully to him. "Yes, Master, I assure you that it is."

"Then we must leave at once. Zane, Nya, I leave it up to you two to pinpoint her location. We will get her back, Morro."

I give him a thankful look and grip the edge of the ship. Wherever you are YN, I'll find you and bring you home. I promise.

"It's hero time!" Jays yells from the top deck.

I smile. Yes, YN, this time I will be on the right side. Hero time, indeed.
