I suppose the flip side of the previous chapter is judging whether your book is too slow paced. Slow paced books are just as bad as fast paced books, and can bore readers into clicking off your book.

My main piece of advice is to plan your book carefully, making sure that at least something happens in each chapter whether it be something small or something bigger. You want your plot to be constantly moving, and there should be a list of events that are ingrained in your mind that happen in your book. Your character has to move from point A to point B throughout the story.

If you're worried about your plot being too slow, imagine your book as a movie. Is there enough drama and action to fill a whole one and a half hour movie?

You don't need to write ten chapters about your character catching the bus to school, and while their is great skill showcased in description you don't need excess amounts of it that stunt the speed of the plot.
