How To Improve Your Dramatic Scenes

Dramatic scenes/ action scenes can be a writer's best friend or worst enemy. They can be difficult to write mainly because there is just SO much to write about and this can sometimes overwhelm writers.

My main tip for writing dramatic scenes is to plan them out in full detail before even writing them. This way you have a prompt when writing the scene and it can stop you feeling so overwhelmed.

Another tip I have is to almost play out the scene in your head and try and make mental notes about what you can see. This will give you a better idea of what you're actually writing about.

Emotions in dramatic and action-packed scenes are very important so make sure you let the reader know what your characters are feeling and thinking.

Don't make them too short as your reader will feel like the scene is either too rushed or unimportant. Obviously don't write ten thousand words about one police chase etc but also don't only write one paragraph.

Hope these tips are helpful! Please comment any other suggestions you have!
