Adam sighed as the noise rose with gossiping girls. They were admiring the view of the bright colors and magical lanterns lighting the evening sky. Even Tanner seemed nervous as he gazed out at the new city.
"It's so different from Trayson." Tanner mumbled as Ivy paused. He was right. Trayson was nothing like this, she decided as the carriage came to a stop. The door opened and they emptied out onto the bustling streets.
Ivy paused when something changed, frowning as she turned back towards the forest, hidden from view. An odd feeling in her chest as the mother tree called out, welcoming someone home in her place. She would have to talk to Adam privately about it, worried how he might react once he found they were no longer the rulers of Trayson.
"Of course not. Not every place can be home. So why don't you ladies go shopping? There is a pretty popular tavern we can meet up at for food. Just over there." Adam told them, pulling Ivy back to Welpion. Noticing Adam pointing at the large dome building. He handed the women a coin purse as Kielia dragged Ivy into the crowd. Adam watched them go smiling at their curvy hips.
"You slept with Kielia didn't you?" Tanner asked making Adam frown at him. The boy smirked knowing he was right.
"She slept with my dad too. She never looks at a man twice. She has been avoiding you. At first, I thought it was because of Ivy, but I have watched my dad try to get her attention before." Tanner explained as Adam rolled his eyes walking off.
"I wasn't interested in her the first time around. Just a toy to curb my boredom. This stays between you and me if you want to be something more than a bathroom attendant, got it?" Adam growled. Tanner nodded keeping quiet as he followed. He paused once grabbing Adams arm. Adam glared at him for his insolence, before he followed his pointed finger.
"That's Rosila." He said almost in a whisper. Adam smiled noticing she was alone.
"I need you to prove yourself to me. Go over to her and say you were coming here for training and that you will be staying at this place, but you can't seem to find it. See if you can bring her here. If you can, I will make sure you and your mother never have to work again. I will meet you there. Deal?" Adam asked scribbling the address on a piece of paper.
Tanner nodded taking the sheet and wandering after her. It seemed simple enough, though he didn't understand why. It was that midget they were after. Rosila could come second.
* * * * * * *
Rosila was still giggling to herself as she thought of the blossoming relationship between her and the small elf. She had never considered dating a guy shorter than her and hadn't considered dating someone more than fifty years older either. She also hadn't met Suzy before.
"Rosy?" She came to a halt twirling around. Tanner stared at her uncertain as she looked him over.
"What are you doing here?" She asked confused as Tanner sighed. He had been surprised to see her so happy. He could never make her smile at him like that. The sudden change in her when he approached stung a little.
"I thought about the last time we talked at the ball. The midget was right. I'm not a man yet, but I want to become one. I talked with Hank, and he set it up for me to come and train under the bossy know it all. I'm supposed to be staying at this place, but I am having trouble finding it. I was about to give up, but when I saw you, I figured why not at least ask, you know? Give me a chance to apologize for being an ass." Tanner told her sincerely making Rosila hesitate. This was going to be interesting if he was in town too. Not that he even came close to Suzy. She sighed holding out her hand.
"Let me see. I need to hurry back to the tavern where I am meeting my father for dinner." Rosila told him as he smiled handing her the paper.
She read it frowning before stopping and asking someone else. They pointed her in the right direction making Rosila smile and thank them. She started off leading the way as she showed Tanner some of the sights. They paused for directions a few times making Tanner watch her in awe.
"People are really nice to you, here aren't they? I can see why you wanted to leave home." Tanner muttered impressed. Rosila giggled glad he was as amazed as she had been.
"Rosila? I thought you would be at the tavern by now. Wont Suzy and Finn be worried about you?" An older woman asked as she simply smiled.
"I was on my way, but an old friend got lost. It felt wrong not helping him find his way. I'll join them once I show him to his new place." Rosila told her as Tanner frowned.
"Who is Suzy? Is she your stepmom?" Tanner asked as Rosila giggled. She had said she was meeting her father though he hadn't quiet believed her.
"He's our king here and her boyfriend. Even if they won't openly admit they are dating." The old woman grumbled as Rosila blushed.
"You're dating the king?!" Tanner asked surprised as she shrugged wandering off.
"Nothing is official yet, but yes there is interest. On both our parts." Rosila mumbled embarrassed. Tanner frowned as he watched her walking ahead of him. He never had a chance. They left the busy marketplace, wandering through some residences. They stopped in front of a little orange house with colorful stained-glass windows. The light was on inside making Tanner shuffle nervously.
"Guess my roommate beat me. Want to come in and look around? I was hoping I could follow you back to the Tavern if you don't mind. Hank said that's where all the young soldiers mingle after a hard day's work." Tanner said trying to bluff. He hadn't talked to Hank at all, but a bar with good food had sounded like a place for soldiers. He opened the door noticing Adam in the kitchen.
"I guess I could do that. Then you can meet my dad since you will be working under him." Rosila told him with a smile as she walked past him into the small house. Tanner shut the door going to grab his small bag off the floor drawing her attention away from the kitchen. Rosila frowned at him as he blushed nervously.
"It has my wallet. I didn't think to grab it before I headed out on my own." Tanner told her as she nodded. She wandered around the living room smiling as she took in all the features. "Nothing like home huh?" Tanner asked as she nodded in agreement.
"Very different. I like it." She told him happily smiling at him. Tanner blushed shifting nervously.
"Just wait until you see the bed." Adam purred silkily making Rosila jump startled. She hadn't noticed he was there. Adam grinned leaning against the back of the couch.
"You did well." Adam told Tanner without taking his eyes off of Rosila. She shot him a glare as Tanner flinched.
"He promised to look after us. Get my mother out of the fields." Tanner told her regretfully. Rosila nodded once in understanding, turning for the door. Adam moved quickly grabbing her arm.
"You can't leave yet. You haven't even seen the best part about this place." Adam purred in a dangerous voice making Rosila frown nervously. Adam dragged her to the stairs, encouraging Tanner to follow. Rosila glanced over her shoulder at the nervous young man as Adam dragged her along into a bedroom.
"Shut the door." Adam commanded as Tanner complied.
"What are you doing?" Tanner asked as Adam shoved Rosila onto the bed. Adam simply sighed as he began to strip.
"What do you think? I am doing what you always wanted to do. Whether she wants it or not." Adam growled annoyed. Tanner fidgeted by the door unsure what to do. Rosila struggled to get off the bed growling when Adam forced her back down. Adam began to roughly strip her as she began to cry in her struggle.
"Stop! Get off me! Let me go!" She screamed before Adam hit her. Tanner started for the bed hesitating at Adams glare.
"You can either join me or stay out of it. I am your king." Adam hissed making Tanner shrink away.
"Please." Rosila begged him as Tanner looked away from her. He flinched when she screamed, and Adam grunted. The sounds of their bodies connecting forced Tanner to leave the room, though he doubted Adam noticed.
That wasn't what he wanted. He didn't want to hurt her or make her cry. Tanner stood listening to her sob as Adam simply pleased himself. He wasn't strong enough to stop Adam. But he might know someone who was. He left the house asking around for directions. He had to hurry.
Tanner entered the noisy tavern slowly glancing around. He stopped at the bar asking for the king of Welpion. The men around him began laughing as they pointed him in the right direction. What was so funny? He wandered over to the crowded dining area frowning when he didn't recognize anyone. At least nobody in brightly colored silks.
"I'm looking for the king." Tanner asked again at another table of men. They burst out laughing waving him away.
"I need to speak with the king its urgent." He pressed as the laughing men drank their beers.
"Hey Finn! This brat wishes to speak to the king!" One of them laughed. A skinny looking man stood waving him over. His light brown hair was pulled into a lose ponytail as his light brown eyes scanned him. Tanner hurried over frowning as he looked him over.
"You're not the king." Tanner grumbled as Finn simply nodded.
"Nope, but I am the academy master. If you want in, you go through me..." Finn stalled when Tanner hit the table hard enough it spilt a pitcher of beer.
"I don't give a fuck about your god damn academy! I came for the king because I believe he might be able to save my friend. I don't need a pussy like you shuffling me into some cult." Tanner roared echoing his mother's words. The bar quieted turning all eyes on him. Tanner glanced around huffing.
"Fine then, screw the king! Give me Rosila's boyfriend." Tanner squeaked the last word as Finn grabbed him by the throat.
"Finn, I swear we aren't dating. Yet." Suzy murmured as he softly drank his beer.
"Yet?!" Finn hissed softly, dragging Tanner with him. Suzy paused frowning at his old friend.
"There is a chance she is interested in me." Suzy told him slowly as Finn growled.
"Now isn't the time! Rosila is in trouble. Adam has her." Tanner bit out trying to pull away from the man holding him. Tanner yipped when the small obnoxious man landed on his chest shoving him to the floor.
"You have less than a minute to explain yourself before one of us kill you." Suzy hissed softly as Tanner nodded quickly trying to take even breathes from the floor.
"I came here with Adam to get even with you. I didn't know he had anything against Rosy. He asked me to bring her to the house and said if I did, I would be rewarded. He also made it clear I couldn't refuse since he was my king. I didn't know, I swear I didn't know." Tanner told him as tears poured over his lashes.
"Which house?" Suzy asked darkly getting to his feet. Tanner pulled the paper out of his pocket handing it to him.
"Finn, keep an eye on him. If I know Adam, he will kill him for his betrayal." Suzy growled before disappearing. He left the tavern running through the busy streets. The markets in Welpion never slept, with lanterns lighting the night.
Suzy weaved quickly, smiling when the streets began to clear giving him room. A red light was flashing over the city warning the citizens of trouble and to make way for their king.
Elves had many traits given to them. Suzy liked to compare them to horses. Noble, elegant, beauty. But they were also incredibly fast. Their speed unmatched by anyone. What had probably taken the boy a half an hour, Suzy made the trip in minutes. He paused to catch his breath before waltzing up and letting himself in.
Adam sat topless, making himself something to eat in the kitchen. His back was to him making Suzy frown as he slammed the door. Adam jumped as he spilled something all over himself.
"You had your chance. There is no reason to be getting pissed about it now." Adam huffed throwing his cup in the sink. He turned to grab a towel frowning at the raging elf in his living room.
"Damn it what are you doing here?" Adam growled as he cleaned himself up. His lip was hurting where Rosila had elbowed him.
"Rumor has it, you have my girl. I have come for her." Suzy growled as Adam frowned confused. His blonde hair was slicked back as his bronze tan, common among the dwarfs, shimmered.
"I do not know which girl you are-" Adam grunted when Suzy punched him in the face. Damn elves and their speed. Adam growled as they got into a brawl. He knocked the smaller man into the stone countertops as Suzy kicked him in the knee. Adam hissed as he knelt on the ground.
Suzy rolled over the counter gaining better footing. Adam grabbed a knife off the counter, coming around to meet him. Suzy dodged the blade as Adam attacked. The small elf growled as Adam aimed to gut him.
"That's low. Even for you." Suzy panted as Adam huffed.
"You think I care? I already had my way with her. Killing you will be icing on the cake." Adam told him as he went on the attack. Suzy dodged trying to stay out of reach of the large knife. He backed up into the living room grabbing vases and throwing them at him. Adam hissed as he batted the objects out of his face, cursing as the elf knocked his feet out from under him. He fell back over the suitcases knocking them open. Suzy paused when something caught his attention.
"Really? Stealing from your brother? Forcing young women. Killing the queen of Trayson. There is just no mercy in your heart is there?" Suzy growled picking up the amulet piece of Salvino.
"I should have been king! I was always meant to be a king! And now that I am, I have found something better. I am going to be a god and I will destroy you and everything you love first. Because I hate you useless creatures. Damn elves can burn for all I care. Welpion and Trayson too." Adam told him as he got to his feet.
"Not if I kill you first, cousin." Suzy hissed as he raced forward socking him in the gut. Adam yelled angrily, bringing down the knife and catching Suzy's arm. Suzy pulled away from him, ripping off his sleeve and using it to wrap his arm.
"What's so special about this girl that you would come here, hellbent on killing me? It's not like she was any better than any other woman." Adam huffed, he cursed when Suzy managed to kick him in the head.
"You don't get to say that about the woman I love. I will rip you, limb from limb and send you back to your brother so he can throw you in a pit where you belong." Suzy hissed as they connected blows. Adam lost the blade at some point throwing punches at the elf's face. Suzy grabbed his wrists thrusting his head up into Adams face.
Adam howled backing up and hitting Suzy hard in his injured arm. Suzy let out a startled hiss backing away from him. Adam laughed when he saw the knife wedged in Suzy's thigh. That meant he couldn't run anymore. Adam grabbed his sword out his luggage smiling happily.
"It's funny how you can be so proud of your short comings. Even if I don't kill you, you will always look at her knowing you weren't first." Adam taunted. Suzy growled pulling the blade out of his leg ready to defend himself as Adam prowled towards him.
"Fuck you!" Rosila shouted as she shattered a walking stick on the back of Adams skull. He stumbled forward before collapsing to the ground, knocked out cold. Suzy stared in shock as his cousin collapsed at his feet. Rosila sat trembling as she held the remains of her weapon. Suzy ditched the knife as he hurried over, hugging her tightly as she held him back.
"Let's get out of here." Suzy told her. He lifted her into his arms as her clothes struggled to stay on. It looked like she had dressed in a rush before coming down to aid him. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he carried her away from that awful place.
Suzy wandered the back streets, out of prying eyes. She sat quietly wondering how he could be carrying her with his injuries. Suzy grunted as he opened the door. Smiling when Rosila giggled softly. She leaned her head against his shoulder as he carried her through the dark house.
"Aren't I heavy?" Rosila asked softly. Suzy paused to frown at her brown curls.
"Why would you think that? I am stronger than I look you know." Suzy told her as she giggled.
"Alright. Then is it true you love me?" Rosila muttered making Suzy stumble as he tripped on his feet. He sighed as he pushed open another door.
"I have loved you since the moment I first laid eyes on you. I just wanted to wait until you loved me too. Didn't want to scare you by seeming desperate." Suzy told her softly setting her on her feet. He wandered away turning on a light. Rosila glanced around the room cautiously.
"Let me go raid my sister's room. She will probably have some better clothes that will fit you instead of his shirt." Suzy growled with anger and possible jealously as he left the room. Rosila glanced down at herself shuddering when she saw Suzy was right.
What if Suzy didn't want her now that Adam had... Rosila closed her eyes as she silently panicked. She could still feel Adams hands on her skin in the back of her mind, making her shiver as she took another look around the room. Wanting to ignore the pain, she tried to distract herself.
Suzy had said he was raiding his sister's room. Was this his bedroom? Did they live together? She laid eyes on the wooden dresser on the far wall, wandering over she smiled at the cat figurine collection. They were in all shapes and sizes. Sculpted from different materials. Suzy hadn't lied about liking cats. But then again, Suzy hadn't lied about anything so far. Did this mean he really loved her? The door popped open as Suzy entered carrying some fabric.
"You found my collection." Suzy told her with a smile. His arm was bandaged, and he was wearing clean clothes. "These should fit you." Suzy told her offering her the clothing. "You can stay here tonight." Suzy paused when Rosila wrapped her arms around his neck holding him close.
"Stay with me. Please." Rosila begged softly. Suzy hugged her back growling softly.
"You have already been hurt enough. I don't want to hurt you anymore." Suzy told her as she held him tighter. Suzy hated that he felt so helpless. He wanted to make everything better. To have the power to go back in time and never leave her side.
"You won't hurt me. I wanted it to be you. I love you too. I have been falling for you the moment I met you in that ballroom. When I came looking for my father, I was only interested in seeing you again. So please, don't worry about hurting me. I want you to erase him from my skin. I wanted it to be you." Rosila breathed as Suzy rubbed her back. She leaned a way when he sighed.
"I will stay with you tonight. But only by your side." Suzy told her as she huffed. "I don't want to hurt you. I am still a man Rosila. I don't want to hurt you the same way he did." Suzy growled softly as she stared at him with her warm hazel eyes.
"Only I get to say whether you hurt me or not. I want to be yours. I never wanted to be his. Every time I close my eyes, I can feel him touching my skin. Please, this is my choice. I want you to touch me. Replace him so he never happened." Rosila grunted as she pulled away from him lifting the shirt over her head. Suzy blushed as Rosila dropped the shirt on the floor. He reached out slowly, caressing her face.
He leaned forward kissing her gently as she leaned into him. She held him close as his hands nervously caressed her bare back. She smiled pulling him over to the bed. He silently cursed as her skirt hit the floor.
Allof his reasoning was fading as he held her in his arms. He loved every inch ofher, making sure to do as she asked and erase that bastard from her mind. Shewas his and his alone. No one else would ever touch her again. He would makesure of that.
