A Welpion Wedding
Raven wandered downstairs with Whylomie by her side for breakfast. They had slept in late, though she was grateful for it. Her body still hurt all over from the hard stress she had been enduring over the trip, but sleep was a good start.
She simply groaned as she tried to roll the stiffness out of her joints. Whylomie chuckled, glad she didn't have that problem.
Simon and the guys were already up talking with the Boars and a few others Raven didn't recognize right away. The tavern wasn't nearly crowded as it had been the night before allowing them to converse with ease. Asir got up from his seat to come and check on them when they reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Good morning. Did you sleep well?" Asir asked his sister as she nodded happily hugging Raven as she giggled. He was cleaning his hands on a napkin as he watched them confused. He still was only borrowing Simon's pants that didn't fit him well, leaving his pale flesh to sit exposed. He needed more sun, Raven decided with a side glance at her friend. They both did.
"I think she is still asleep. So clingy." Raven teased as Asir laughed nodding. His sister had a habit of over cuddling in her sleep. It had been why she had so many pillows back home. Whylomie pouted at the two of them pulling Raven with her into her brother's chest as she hugged them both.
"Good morning!" She said cheerily as Raven blushed trying not to touch as much skin as she could avoid. She huffed when Whylomie shifted pressing Ravens face into his chest.
"Damn it Whi. Stop being weird and let's eat breakfast." Asir told her with a blush pushing them away.
"I'm just saying good morning to my two favorite people." Whylomie pouted. She shrugged backing up and leaving the two of them behind as she bounced over to Tristan.
"Sorry. She can be a little weird sometimes when she oversleeps." Asir told Raven embarrassed as she nodded quickly moving over to the table. She smiled when she noticed Rosila taking a seat across from her cautiously.
Rosila had said she wanted to start over, and Raven was willing to try. Raven paused when Whylomie chose to sit next to Tristan forcing Asir to sit between them as he stole his plate back from in front of his twin. Simon sat on the other side of Raven, setting some food down for her.
"Eat up. I went to check on Huxley and he seems content for now. Did you sleep alright? We can try to get you your own bed next time." Simon told her offering her some juice. He had overheard part of the conversation and was still trying to deal with this unreasonable jealousy that kept creeping up. Raven wasn't his girl, so he shouldn't keep acting like it. She smiled taking the cup from him.
"Thanks. I was so tired last night I couldn't even care for food. Now that I have slept, I am starving. Besides, we won't be staying long in Welpion, so I don't think we need to worry about another bed." Raven told him as she started in on her food.
Simon smiled casting Asir a look as he simply watched Raven eat, lost in thought. Rosila glanced at Suzy as he frowned concerned, watching the young men on either side of Raven.
Suzy had only been told stories of Raven so hadn't been quite sure what to expect. Knowing she was Rosila's half-sister and Finn's youngest child; he had expected something... druid. A raven might dwell in the forest, but it is not a tree.
Her dark black hair was long enough to brush the top of her shoulders though pulling it back out of her face with a tie still might be a challenge. Her deep blueish eyes had purple tinge to them making Suzy thin his lips. Raven seemed familiar to him but for all the wrong reasons.
He couldn't quite pin it, though the familiarity gave him a sinking feeling in his gut, he knew this girl was nothing like whatever it was he was trying to remember. Whatever ancient evils were trying to invade his thoughts didn't matter. At least for now.
"Why won't you be staying very long?" Rosila asked catching up to Ravens words. Raven paused to chew her food glancing at Simon.
"She's your friend. If you trust her, tell her. If you don't, we'll disappear when they least expect it." Simon told her softly starting in on his own plate and ignoring Asir. Raven swallowed shaking her head.
"That wasn't what I was asking. Or wondering at least. You know the old kingdom best. Eventually we need to get there, after we finish collecting all of the pieces. It has taken just over a month to find the twins and making it this far. I am not even halfway, and we still need to go to Salvino and find two races that haven't contacted anyone in ages. We are running out of time." Raven huffed at her food making Simon sigh.
"You're right, but also wrong. Even if someone was actively trying to awaken the demon, they wouldn't succeed for at least a year. More than likely, they are basing their knowledge off of incomplete truths. Trying to gain his power for their own by recreating the environment that woke him in the first place. I have heard the stories. They would need thousands of sacrifices to feed him before he woke from his slumber." Simon told her as she frowned.
"Something tells me I am going to have less than a year before I need to face him." Raven grumbled slowly as she picked at her plate. She paused when Asir grabbed her shoulder.
"Don't worry. Whylomie and I will help you as much as we can. Maybe the other amulet pieces with be like Whi's and come to you." Asir told her as Raven smiled.
"Wait. What amulet pieces?" Suzy asked leaning on the table. He had simply been monitoring the conversation, absently rubbing Rosila's thigh at the mention of the demon.
Even the Boars had quieted to listen in. Raven sighed pulling the necklace Simon had given her over her head. She moved her food placing the pieces on the table for them to see.
"I am collecting the pieces of the broken amulet to try and restore it. The seer Framtida said that it was my quest to find them and then face the demon. To either save him or kill him. It is my destiny." Raven told him as Suzy glanced at Rosila.
"I'll tell you what. I will make you a deal. Stay in Welpion for a month to prepare for your battle. You can train at our academy in town. Agree to this and I will give you the riches of Salvino. Actually, stay the full time and I will give you the courage of Welpion." Suzy told her as he played with a gold coin. He paused to lean over into the Rosila.
"Plus, this way she can be there for the wedding." Suzy told her kissing her cheek. Rosila blushed as Raven held out her hand.
"As long as Simon is right and we do have time, training in Welpion would be a better alternative than on the road." Raven told them as Simon shrugged.
"Better for the twins. I am not even sure Whylomie should be traveling with us to face the Demon. She isn't very useful at the moment except to make you smile." Simon told Raven as she blushed. Though he had a point. Whylomie could barely walk on land, pulling her into danger would be disastrous for them.
"So, then we have a deal?" Suzy asked holding out the coin. He grunted when the coin flew out of his hands and over to Simon. He looked it over carefully before handing it to Raven.
"It's the real thing. I say we accept his deal. At the rate we are traveling anyways we average about two pieces a month. This will just leave us with three other pieces. Four if you count the piece still hiding in Albitonya." Simon told her as Raven looked over the shiny piece before adding it with the others.
"Elves, Fairy's and Golems. Soon we will have them all and the world will be at peace." Raven sighed content putting them back on her neck and hiding them in the collar of her dress.
"Wait, you have the piece of the mermaids?" Pearl asked as his two brothers nodded intrigued. Emerald was still at the clinic under watchful eyes. Whylomie nodded touching her choker. The table paused looking over the twins.
"You weren't kidding when you said nobody had seen a mermaid in years." Simon muttered down at Raven as she smiled. Simon sighed noticing one of the men on the other side watching them quietly. Simon glanced him over deciding he was of druid decent, wondering about his look as he watched Raven carefully.
"Since you will be staying in Welpion for the time being, would you like to come to my wedding? Our wedding? We planned to get married in a few days' time." Rosila told Raven nervously. The growth rate of the child had changed, and her grandmother was sure the child would be fully grown in a month.
Rosila paused glancing at Suzy and smiling sweetly. He had made a deal to keep Raven, her sister, around until the birth of their child. Just in case things didn't end well. She squeezed his hand as he looked at her confused, smiling at her grinning face.
"What? Is there something on my face?" Suzy asked as she shook her head.
"Nope. I am just falling more in love with you." She told him softly giggling when he blushed. Raven smiled as she watched them, nodding her head in approval.
"The month will give us time to teach you how to control your blade, so it doesn't act up again, like with Diamond." Simon murmured thoughtful as Raven glanced at him.
"You think you can teach me?" Raven asked as Simon frowned at her quizzical face.
"I know I can. You can fight, I will give you that, but you are a long way from being able to take on the demon. They said they had an academy. Let's take this over there." Simon told her getting to his feet. Raven nodded starting to get up when something squishy held her back.
"What's a wedding?" Whylomie asked as Raven paused. Oh right, she couldn't leave the twins.
"A wedding is a ceremony between two beings who have mutual love for each other. In this case, Rosila and Suzy are the ones in love, willing binding themselves to each other. In your colony you said you had harems. It is sort of the same privileges, but between only two people instead you and however many girls you take as your own." Simon tried to explain as Raven nodded.
"It's more personal. With mutual love and respect for each other." Raven told her as she hugged Whylomie back.
"So, then I could marry Asir because we both love and respect each other?" Whylomie asked as Asir blushed.
"Usually the couple that marries, does so to start their own family. Eventually Rosila and I will have children. She will be my wife and I shall be her husband creating a family unit." Suzy explained as Whylomie nodded.
"Then Raven can marry Asir." Whylomie decided as Simon and Asir choked. Tristan laughed wandering over to hug Raven to his stony chest. He was in his boy form wearing lose fitting clothes.
"Poor sister. Whylomie is making you change colors." Tristan cooed as Raven grunted.
"Nobody is getting married to anyone. Except Rosila and Suzy. Speaking of which I need to get them a gift." Raven muttered, squeaking when Tristan lifted her into the air.
"Explain gift." Tristan demanded as Raven frowned. She glanced at Simon for help as he simply sighed and shrugged.
"Forgive our companions. They are a bit new to this world and its ways. Congratulations on your wedding. We are sure to be sticking around so I see no problem for Raven to attend the festivities." Simon told them as Suzy smiled brightly. Raven was trying to explain the concept of a gift to Tristan as he sat her back down nodding. Whylomie actually knew this concept and was chipping in as they both chat up the stone boy.
"Why don't you all attend? Something tells me it will be very educational for the lot of you." Suzy suggested as Asir agreed keeping to himself. Rosila frowned leaning forward making him frown at her.
"Something tells me you like your sister a little more than the average brother." Rosila hummed as Asir lit up a bright red. Simon had noticed it too, over their travels, but had decided not to say anything. Suzy frowned unsure it was their business to be prying.
"Do you think she knows and that's why she has been shoving Raven at you?" Rosila asked noticing Simon's hesitation. Asir sighed shaking his head.
"She is too oblivious for that. Its more that we have grown up together knowing that I would have a collection of women at my disposal. She actually likes Raven and has been simply trying to get me to add her to my eventual harem." Asir sighed. He frowned when the devil herself wrapped her arms around his neck.
"You are still going for a harem? Goodness, Rosila is taken you know." She giggled as her brother blushed. Raven joined them shaking her head at the giggling girl as her brother grumbled.
"We want to go shopping! To find gifts." Whylomie giggled as Asir simply sighed.
"And other supplies. Clothes and gear that fit are important too." Raven corrected her.
"Well why don't you have a girl's day on the market? Rosila knows were most everything is. This way you can pick up anything you might like for the wedding." Suzy told them kissing Rosila's head.
"Oh, that sounds like fun. Plus, this way we can catch up." Raven told Rosila nervously as she tucked some hair behind her ear. It was growing back, but Rosila missed the long black hair Raven had once before the awful twins had chopped it off.
It seemed Rosila really meant what she said, and she was trying to reach out. Raven needed to do the same if they were going to get anywhere. Plus having a private conversation away from the men might help.
"Just tell them that I will pay for it and get whatever you like. I can take the guys to check out the academy and look at getting actual apartments for them." Suzy told her as he helped Rosila to her feet. He kissed her briefly, smiling happily when she kissed him back.
"Awe! They are so cute together!" Whylomie squeaked as she hugged her brother.
"Well at least we know you slept well." Asir grumbled annoyed even as color dusted his cheeks.
"Maybe we can meet up for lunch or dinner. So, you two can go for a swim." Raven told them with a smile as Whylomie nodded. She released her brother bouncing over to grab Tristan's arm.
"Um, I am going with the guys." Tristan told her as she pouted up at him.
"But then who will carry all of the gifts? Who will carry me when I get tired?" Whylomie asked him as Tristan blushed.
"Have fun my friend. We will see you later." Simon told Tristan with a smile as Whylomie smiled pleased. Tristan stood speechless as Whylomie dragged him along after Raven and Rosila.
"You think he will be alright?" Suzy asked as Simon nodded.
"He is Raven's guardian. The world isn't safe for her as people are actively looking to kill her. He will deter any weak attempts to harm the girls. I trust you Suzy, but I don't trust your kingdom." Simon told him as Suzy shrugged.
"Fair enough. Shall I take you on a tour?" Suzy asked as Simon nodded pulling Asir to his feet.
"Yes, then I think we should do a bit of our own shopping. You require better gear if you plan on training. At least a pair of boots to protect your soft feet." Simon grunted with a nod as he looked him over.
"Yes. I have my goals. I need to get stronger as fast as I can." Asir told him with a determined growl. Simon simply smiled and nodded.
"Then to the markets we go. I just hope the girls don't think we are following them." Suzy joked as he led the way. A month wasn't that long in the grand scheme of things, but it was perfect for what Suzy needed.
Rosilawould have her sister during this trying period giving Suzy some piece of mind. Also, it should be plenty of time for Hank to send over his trial guests. Hewas still a little rocky about the idea of having assassins in his city, but hewould trust in Hank. For now, he would focus on preparing these boys for thebattle a head.
