Chapter 10. Server Down
(woo chapter 10)
POV: Xisumavoid
Location: Make-Shift Infirmary
I opened my eyes, seeing a gray ceiling. My vision was blurry, but I could tell that we were in the main room where all the players were located. For once, my vision wasn't purple-tinted. That would only mean...
I look to the side and sigh in relief, seeing my helmet there. Lani came to my bedside, looking down at me in concern.
"Hi, Void. I healed you from a concussion about 10 minutes ago. What do you remember?" I think about her question. My memory was fuzzy. What did happen?
"Um..." I trail off. "Did we have a large fight between our admins and Watchers?"
"You asking me or telling me?"
"Telling. I kinda remember Prime carrying me here-" I cut myself off, rapidly turning red. Lani smirked, but nodded with a pleased face.
"Good. It worked then." She started walking away.
"Wait, Lani... where is everyone else?"
"Uh... they are in Skeppy' server. The Watcher's are taking it over-" I start to get up, grabbing my helmet.
"Where do you think you're going?"
"To help them. I-"
"No, you're staying right here. Recovery takes time, Xisumavoid." Lani scolded, pushing me back down. I swat her and away, slipping my helmet on with my other hand. My vision got slightly purple and more clear (yes, the glass is prescription). Lani's hand was covered with a flame that's a blood red color. As I started to move, she shot a ball of red energy at me. I throw my hands up, a light purple shield repelling the red ball. She shot at me again. I dive-rolled to the entrance curtain, getting out of the infirmary. I quickly strap on my elytra and take off into the air.
"Xisuma!" I hear a voice yell from the ground. It was Ren. I landed next to him, stumbling slightly.
"Yeah?" I ask. Ren grabbed my shoulders, Doc and Scar approaching. Stress and Joe looked at us, observing. Everyone else was sleeping, offline, or elsewhere.
"Dude, are you ok?" Doc questioned, looking at me in concern. "We saw you slam into the wall hard. The place shook slightly."
"Yes, I'm fine." I say, taking out my phone. Lani burst out of the infirmary, scanning the room for me. I click on Skeppy's server (admin perks, I can get to other lower ranked admin's servers from my communicator). It was locked. I cursed as I needed a four digit password. He locked his server from anyone except admins.
"What, man?" Ren asked, looking at my communicator. I ignored him, looking around and thinking.
"Skeppy, Skeppy... think like Skeppy. What would his password be?" I murmur. It would be something so easy you'd facepalm when you find out. I enter 1111.
Access denied.
"Um, what is it?" Lani was coming closer. I enter 1234.
Access denied.
"Skeppy..." I mutter. I enter a code in, and I disappear without a sound. I appeared in the air, free falling to the server that was covered in lava and TNT. Flashes of Watcher magic and admin energy came into view as I come closer to the land.
I activate my elytra, gliding downwards. I release a firework to dodge a blast of purple magic, barrel rolling out of the way. I landed next to another admin, protecting him from getting back stabbed.
"Xisuma? You're supposed to be healing!" They said. It was AppleG.
"No, I don't care, I need to help you guys-"
"How did you get in?"
"His password is 1414, it was obvious." I replied, backflipping over a stray beam of Watcher magic. An evil laugh sounded in the distance. The land shook greatly, and the beacons powered off. We both flew into the air along with the other admins. The land in the server was shaking so much it was impossible to stand. Everyone sent me a questioning look when they saw me. I ignored them, looking at the source of the laugh and shaking.
Over in the distance, two pairs of wings looked like they were hit out of the sky. Both were falling, flapping wildly and furiously. They gained control before they hit the ground, much to our relief. They were blasted with a beam, but both thankfully got out of the way. They dove into the trees, hiding from our view.
Out of the corner of my eyes, a solid, dark purple beam of light headed towards us. Most people got out of the way. I heard a yelp of fear and turned. Thorlon got hit by the beam. He was another Hypixel admin. He fell out of the sky, elytra broken.
Everyone looked in horror as he fell to the shaking land. If anyone dies in a locked server, it's permanent death.
I instantly dove down, holding my hand out to him. He reached out for me, but I couldn't reach him. I fire another rocket but it didn't make much of a difference. My heart was beating quicker as the ground was approaching faster and faster. I tried using my admin abilities, but I couldn't slow him down or speed myself up. Magic was out of the question.
500 blocks away the ground.
He reached for my hand again, making eye contact with me. His eyes shone with fear. The world started to stop shaking.
150 blocks away the ground.
My elytra was losing durability. I grunted as I try and reach down further. The land was almost still.
100 blocks away the ground.
"Xisuma, please! Please get me!" He screeched.
"I'm trying, Thorlon, I am!" I yell in response. The server's shaking fully ceased.
50 blocks away the ground.
"Dang it, come on!" I say, frustrated with myself. Thorlon closed his eyes. My fingertips brushed his fingertips.
25 blocks away from the ground.
I grabbed his wrist as he grasped mine. I pull him towards me, gliding forward and slightly upward. We crashed into the ground, rolling so we don't get as injured. Thorlon laid flat on his back, sighing with overflowing relief. He was breathing hard and sweating a lot. I sat back, trying to get my heart out of my throat and back into my chest. After a few moments, other admins safely landed around us.
The sky was dark, and there was still lava everywhere. I looked over to Skeppy, who was on the side. His admin and server owner commands were up, and he was tapping on the holographic screens. They flashed red a couple times, easily getting him more frustrated.
Another laugh echoed throughout the server. We looked into the sky as it glitched to look like both day and night. Some blocks turned a solid black. Others turned a dark purple color. All liquids have turned into this ink-like substance, and the air somehow changed, making it harder to breathe. Fire quickly spread, and more lava appeared along with the black ink substance. Overworld blocks quickly lost it's hue, making everything seem dead. More netherrack, black blocks, fire and lava spawned. It looked like literal hell.
Skeppy's screen flashed red and stayed that color. He looked at it in horror. Before he could say anything, it felt like I was kicked in the stomach. The air got sucked out of my lungs. I was close to blacking out before I felt hands dragging me to stand up. I opened my eyes to see Joe and Mumbo holding me up, looking at me with worry. My communicator lit up with a message. I looked at it.
You have been kicked from InvadedLands. Server is down from maintenance issues. Sorry for the inconvenience.
"Think it's just more than 'inconvenience'." I hear another admin snort.
"Hey, Skeppy, it's ok... it wasn't your fault." I hear another person say. I look over the source.
"No, it's my fault!" Skeppy wailed. "Bad's knocked out, my server got shut down, it's ruined, there's no back-up, I couldn't save it!" Tears ran down his face. He continued on, verbally beating himself up. Skeppy was basically an emotional wreck at this moment. An admin hugged him, trying to calm him down. Skeppy broke down crying in front of everyone. I don't think he cared about it. Players muttered, confused about the entire situation.
I was about to say something, when my communicator goes off with a loud beep. It attracted almost everyone's attention. I look down at the screen, paling greatly. I dropped the communicator, backing away.
My worst fear has come true.
