CHAPTER II

The Watchdog and the Lap cat

CHAPTER II

ACACIA P.O.V.

I flipped my book's page, my amethyst eyes scanning the paragraph of the mystery novel.

Just as the main character was about to uncover the murder, an ear piercing scream echoed through the mansion. My eyebrows furrowed but I continued to read. Though when the second screamed reached my ears, I sighed. Closing the book with a 'thump' I placed it on my night stand and climbed out of my bed.

Shutting my bedroom door behind me, I walked through the dark, empty hallways. The only sound I was able to hear was my own breathing and the slaps of my barefoot hitting the floor.

Another scream echoed through my mansion. With annoyance I rubbed my temple, quietly thanking myself that I made all my workers go home tonight.

I easily navigated myself through the familiar hallways, knowing exactly where I had to go.

Without hesitation, I slammed the door open with annoyance and walked in. Though I looked down when I felt something crunch under my bare foot.

My nose scrunched in disgust and horror as I stepped away from the discarded bloody limb on the ground.

"Mistress, what can I help you with?" Ciar sudden appeared in front of me with a smile, his usually pure white gloves stained red. My eyes shifted to his cheek where he had some blood on it.

Ignoring Ciar for a moment I peered behind him and saw the sad mess of Mr. Burnand. The fat, middle aged man was sobbing hysterically while clutching his bloody stump where his arm was missing.

My nose scrunched in disgust. Wiping my foot roughly on the carpet I stood next to my dear butler.

"C-Countess Acacia!!!! P-Please!!! Help m-me!!!!" The well dressed man begged as he tried to craw towards me with his remaining limbs.

I started at him in slight amusement and disgust.

"Why should I, Mr. Burnand? Were you not taught to never forgive those who betray you?" I innocently questioned as I stood over the pitiful man.

"W-What?"

I snickered slightly and placed my hand on my cheek, "Did you assume because I am a child, I wouldn't notice you secretly stealing money from my company and using that to smuggle weapons for your own profit?"

A look of horror appeared on the man's face, though it was soon replaced by anger.

"How dare you! You are just a child!!! I'm am a noble in France, I can easily have you killed by the mafia!!!!" I watched with amusement as Mr. Burnand screamed his empty threats, just because I'm a child? Ridiculous.

"You are just a Queen Victoria's Lap Cat!"

My eyes narrowed as I looked at the bleeding man in front of me.

"Hm~ so you have heard of me, Mr. Burnard?" I purred as I wrapped and unwrapped a strand of hair around my finger.

The male on the ground glared at me mockingly, "It's such a shame the Queen's dear cat is just a child. After hearing about her Watchdog, you would assume the cat would be more vicious, but I only see a orphan child, hiding! All the information I got of you said you were a frail, innocent orphan!!!"

I rolled my violet eyes at his words, though secretly feeling the fury burning in my soul hearing him say orphan. A man who is missing an arm is still fighting back, how annoying.

I smirked down at the barking man before kicking him on his chest, making him fall over. My smirk grew larger as I heard him cry with pain as I added more pressure to my feet.

"Not vicious? Oh my, Mr. Burnand, you seem to have your information wrong," I chirped as I completely stood on his gasping chest, "Unlike the Queen's Watchdog, I make sure that everything is flawless." My eyes narrowed, my smile disappearing.

Burnand immediately grew stiff, the cockiness leaving his eyes and being replaced by fear.

"Do you know what I mean Burnand?" I questioned dropping all the politeness, "I dispose all of those who get in my way. I may be the Lap cat of the Queen of England in the outside, but truthfully..." I grin widely as I grab the man's hair roughly with my hand, "I drag out all the filthy criminals like you, and dispose them like the Queen wishes. Have you not heard that cats are cruel and manipulative?" I giggle slightly and let go of his hair before looking at my hand in disgust and rubbing it on my dress.

I quickly got off the shaking man and turned towards Ciar who was smiling widely, his feline like eyes crimson.

"Ciar, I'm disappointed in you, I thought I told you to take care of him," I scold, my mood foul.

My butler smiled and bowed to me, "I'm terribly sorry mistress, but you told me to keep him entertained until you have your bit of fun and you did tell me to enjoy this."

I scowl, knowing he was telling the truth. I whirled around and stalked towards the door.

"Ciar finish him, I'm done," I turned around and eyed Ciar who was looking at me with his crimson eyes full of amusement, "Clean up this mess, I don't want to see a single drop of blood anywhere tomorrow nor do I want to be able to smell it." My nose wrinkled in disgust from the rusty smell.

"Yes Lady Acacia."

I then realized something important, "Ciar, after you finished with him and tidied yourself up and please bring a cup of lady grey tea to my room." I calmly stated as I placed my hand on the knob.

"Understood, mistress."

I sighed and walked out of the room, not even turning around when Burnand screamed for forgiveness.

I closed the door and stood there for a second.

I was slightly confused as Burnand's cry stopped for a second. Though I sighed when a familiar malicious laugh reached my ears.

"UGGGGGAAAAAHHHHHHHHH-! Ah..."

I walked away as I heard the choking start, truly he is a cat. Playing with the poor prey...

>>TIME SKIPS NEXT MORNING>>

I grumpily sat in my office looking through few files.

"Mistress, you seem to be in a rather foul mood," Ciar chuckled as he walked in with a cart full of food.

I glared at the demon, my eyes narrowing at him.

"Why do I have to read all these paper first thing in the morning?" I grumbled as I signed the last document after throughly checking it.

"Because you are visiting the Queen today my lady, you can't slack off."

I sighed and rubbed my temples with my fingers, massaging it.

"Ciar, I want you to immediately start baking a dozen short cakes, I rather not have a duel with Earl Charles Grey as soon as I walk into the palace," the image of the young, shaggy silver haired man popped in my mind.

Ciar's feline blue eyes were filled with amusement as he chuckled, "Why, I thought you enjoyed your little spars with Earl Grey," he paused for a second, placing his long gloved finger on his chin a wicked grin on his lips, "Mistress we haven't been training often these days, it might be a-"

I glared at my butler with my amethyst eyes narrowed, "Ciar, please just go make the cake. I rather not deal with Earl Grey today, and those cakes will definitely come in handy as soon as he appears."

The browned haired butler frowned for a moment before snickering to himself as if he remembered a joke.

"Yes, my lady..."

I scowled as I fiercely stamped my family crescent to another letter.

>>TIME SKIPS>>

"Mistress, are you sure you would like to keep that katana on you? It doesn't quite fit your outfit," Ciar chuckled as he carried the stack of cakes in his hands.

I nodded and patted down my purple dress that reached my knees. Apparently it was in fashion...

I stood in front of the large gate before securely placing my hand on the vibrant blue hilt of my katana, preparing for anything.

"Halt! State your business to the Queen's palace!" One of they guards yelled as they placed two sword over each other in front of the gate.

My eyes fell on them in slight annoyance as I unsheathed my katana and pointed at them.

"The Queen calls for my presence, Acacia Vandenberg," a slight smile went to my lips as the sharp weapon of mine dangerously shined under the sunlight.

I heard Ciar chuckle in amusement as we watched the guards eyes widen in shock when they saw the engraving on my blade. They quickly saluted and stiffly nodded at me before letting us pass.

I rolled my violet eyes and proudly lifted my head and walked through the gate while sheathing my sword.

"It is amusing watching the guards stiffen every time they realize you are a Vandenberg, mistress," Ciar commented as he walked slightly behind me.

I looked at him as he gave me a close eyes smile. 'The last Vandenberg...' I think.

I sighed and continued to walk. I sometime still can't believe he's a demon.

His pale flawless skin and the gentle smile he gave people would never make anyone think he's the demon himself. A powerful demon....

My memories went to when he once told me he was one of the oldest demons out there. Around 200 thousand or something...

My thought were caught off as the hair on the back of my neck rose.

Without a single hesitation I unsheathed my katana and brought it in front of my body taking the hard hit.

"Well, isn't it Countess Acilia! What a pleasure!" The familiar silver haired young man laughed as he added more pressure on his sword.

I smirked slightly and nullified his attack with a slight twist of my wrist, "My pleasure Earl Grey, has it not been too long?" I sweetly question, swiftly attacking him with my katana.

We clashed for a moment before I ran towards Ciar, snatching a cake out of his gloved hands before throwing them at the Earl

I watched in satisfaction as Charles's eyes widen in surprise. He shot his fencing sword in front of his body piercing the sweet treat.

"Oh my, my apologies Charles, it looks like my hand slip, though please do enjoy that cake. My dear Ciar made it out of the finest material in London," my tone was sickly sweet that I myself, almost shuddered at it.

The silver haired male narrowed his equally silver eyes at me before biting into the sweet treat.

I watched in slight disgust as he finished the cake in few bites before he swiftly stabbed the rest of the cake in Ciar's hand with his sword.

He ate while he motioned me into the palace.

"The Queen has been excitedly waiting for you," he stated while chewing.

I rolled my amethyst eyes and sheathed my katana, though keeping an untrusting eye on the male who walk in front of me.

My eyes stayed on him as he knocked on a large white door.

"My Queen, Count Acacia has arrived...."

My teeth chewed on my lips as I heard the reply.

Well here it goes....
