Chapter Sixteen
John'S P.O.V.
Its been two months since Thomas has left. Lexi has gone back to being his normal, over achiever, hot headed, self. But I am sad to inform you that since the recent lack of competition, I have returned to my past state of shyness around Alex.
I'm not sure why. About two days after Thomas "officially" left my guard dog state seemed to just disappear, leaving me a flustered mess when I'm near Lexi. That doesn't make him any less my property, Lexi is still mine.
Lafayette has completey forgiven both me and Herc, so everything is pretty much back to normal...except for something I've recently noticed about Alex. He's been acting differently when it comes to certain things.
When specific people are around him he grows quiet and looks at the floor. He plays with his hands until the person leaves. It's not even all the time though, one time he did that when I walked over, but the next day he was perfectly fine when I sat next to him at breakfast.
I tried to ask him about it but he shrugs it off and says he sometimes gets to deep into thought.
I often wonder what he's thinking about. From what I've read in his writing I can tell his mind is a very complicated, yet beautiful place.
His birthday is coming up soon, he'll be six. That makes him three years older than me. That's not to much, right?
I'm not sure what to get him, but Dad said he's gonna take Laf, Herc, and I to the mall so we can buy him one present each. Mom says she's gonna stay home while we're out and make Alex a cake. During all this he's supposed to be at him daily trip to the library.
You'd be surprised how often he goes to the library, he walks there all by himself, and even when he doesn't go to the library he hides away in the attic. He says that theres a hidden library up there, but I think he's a little...ya know.
Right now I'm sitting on the floor of the living room watching s movie with Laf, Herc, and Lexi. It's about a guy who travels back in time in a shiny car, and gets stuck in 1955, so he has to get help from a old guy with wild white hair.
I think its really cool. Lexi likes it too, its adorable how he stares at the TV with awe, there's a glint in his eyes when he finds something interesting.
To be honest, I think everything about him is adorable. His grin, his blush, the way he looks at a new book. The only downfall of it all, when he asks me for something, I can't say no. Its like physically impossible. My mouth muscles can not form the word 'No' when I'm near him.
He's just soo, cute. I could look at him all da-
"John!" I suddenly snap out of my trance.
"Huh?" I ask looking for whoever called me.
"I asked you if you liked the movie." Lexi's sweet voice danced in my ears.
"O-oh um, yeah. My favorite part was when he got on the skate board and messed with the one guy and he got manure all over his car." I say lightly laughing.
"My favorite part was when the lightning struck the clock tower and the car just hit 88 miles an hour, thus sending it back to 1985." He says with an amazed sigh.
"Dude, did you just say 'thus'?" I hear Herc question from the couch.
"Yeah, why?" Alex says looking at him.
"What five year old says 'thus'? I don't even know any old people who say thus." He says with arched eyebrows. Alex shrugged his shoulders and stretched his body.
"Its getting late, I'm gonna head to bed." he says with a yawn. My heart skips a beat when I hear he fudging adorable kitten yawn.
"Oh, um, g-goodnight Lexi." I call while he walks up the stairs. When he's out of sight I sigh and relax my tense shoulders. I look over to Laf and Herc who are staring at me with smirks.
"Johnny boy, you are sooooo in love." Laf say batting his eyes. Herc begins making kissy noises and starts laughing.
I pick up a pillow and throw it at them.
"Shut up, you guys. I do not like Lexi, I mean Alex." I say quickly trying to cover what I just said, a blush dusting my cheeks.
"John likes Alex, John likes Alex-" They start chanting but suddenly stop when a certain WashingDad walks into the room.
"What in the name of Sam Heck is with all this noise?" He scolds crossing his arms.
"Nothing Dad, just us going to bed." Herc nervously laughs creeping towards the stairs.
"Mmhhmm." He says watching us with squinted eyes. We all hurridly rush up the stairs. I make my way to my room and take a look at Shelly's tank. Shelly seems lonely. Maybe I should get her a friend.
As I ponder this I hear my door creak open. I lift my head to see who it was when my eyes meet with my favorite chocolate ones.
"Hey John."
