A\N First off let me apologize for the long absence. My divice was broken and I was unable to update any of my books. So here is an update that I'd long over due. P.s my divice is still broken and I'm using someone else's to update rn.

John's P.O.V.

As the recess bell rung I felt multiple emotions settle into my stomach, excitement, nervousness, and hope. I had hope that this plan, my plan would work.

Peggy said she'd get Lexi to meet me and Maria at the jungle gym, at the exact moment that Thomas usually walks pass in search of James, Maria would kiss him. Thomas would become hurt and outraged and never would like Lexi again.

I made my way over to Mrs. Manning's doorway to wait for Maria. When she walked out I grabbed her wrist and pulled her outside. We walk silently to the jungle gym.

"You know what you're to do right?" I ask double checking before the worst can happen. She nods her head and pulls out a tube of what seemed to be bright, bold, red lipstick, then begins to apply it. The thought of her putting those lips on my Lexi sent waves of rage through me, but I had to remember why we were doing this:

To get my Lexi back.

I soon see Peggy approaching with Alex on her tail. When they make it here Alex looks at me with a bitter expression.

"John. Maria." He says, smiling at her. She steps towards him and wraps her arms around him in a hug.

"Hello Alexander." She says in her cutesy voice. He blushes and shyly smiles, making me mentally gag.

Twenty feet away Thomas and James were drawing near, Thomas's eyes fixed on Alex. I flashed Peggy the signal who then flashed Maria the signal, that Alex couldn't see. She then looked into Alex's eyes and pressed her lips against his.

After standing still in shock for about three seconds he quickly pulls away and stares at Maria with wide eyes. We both turn to the sound of sniffling and meet the broken eyes of Thomas.

"Thomas, wait it's not wha-" Alex what cut off by Thomas's cries.

"Alex! How could you?! I-I thought, you and I...no, I was foolish to believe that." He says looking down. He looks back up with something diffent in his eyes, something that wasn't there before, hatred. He grabs the arm of a girl who was walking passed, Sally Hemmings. "You deserve a taste of your own medicine." He says before crashing his lips onto hers, now its Lexi who has a look of hurt on his face. He pulls away and tosses her to the side. "Let's go James." He says before pulling his best-and probably only-friend away, towards the school.

Lexi looks towards him and mumbles something.

"-come back, please..." He then crumbles to the ground and covers his face with his hands. I could have never guessed this would happen. I shoe away Peggy and Maria and drop to the ground next to him.

"Hey Lexi, it's gonna be alright." I say wrapping my small arms around him and pulling him against me. I feel his quiet sobs shake his body. "I'll never leave you." I whisper in his ear. He looks up at me, tears still rolling down his cheeks.

"Y-you promise?" He asks holding his trembling pinky out.

"I promise." I say latching my small pinky to his slightly longer one. He hugs me tightly once more and then stands up.

"I have writing to do." He says than makes his way towards the building. Out if the corner of my eye I see Maria and Peggy walking towards me.

"How'd it go?" Peggy asks watching Alex walk away.

"Well, Thomas broke him, but at least that curly headed dip stick won't be around to try and take him away from me. He said he had writing to do, so I guess he needs some time." I sigh. Then I turn to Maria. "You did great, but mention this to anyone, and things will get ugly." I said in my best menacing voice. She quickly nodded and scurried away. Peggy chuckled and shook her head.

"I'm happy for you John, now you best treat him right. Or else you'll have Angie, Lizzy, and me on you. Got it?" She says playfully grabbing me by the collar of my shirt. She kinda scared me.

"Sir, yes Sir!" I saluted her and began marching back to school. I could hear her laughing behind me but continued to walk. I needed some time alone to think about things.

Though I'm only four I know what needs to be done in life. Life I told Lexi a long time ago, I'm very mature. And mature peoples have pri-prior-...that thingy where you already know what you need to do and how you're gonna do it. Yeah, that thingy. My top that thingy, it to take care of Lexi, and be there for him.

"I promise."
