when they're fighting, I purposely put 'he' and 'she' given when they fight, they've both technically had their identities taken from them so it's sort of symbolic.

buckle up kids

They took Sitwell up to the roof of a building to interrogate him on Project Insight, he was the one who would know the most. Steve pushed him through the door, knocking him over and they all walked along the roof casually.

"Tell me about Zola's algorithm." Steve demanded.

Sitwell stood up. "Never heard of it." He shrugged.

"What were you doing on the Lemurian Star?" Lee questioned, slightly harsher than Steve.

Sitwell kept walking backwards as they walked towards him. "I was throwing up, I get seasick." He replied sarcastically. he almost fell off the building but Steve easily caught him. He smirked at Steve and looked between him and Lee. "Is this little display meant to insinuate that you two are gonna throw me off the roof. 'Cause that's not either of your styles."

Lee took Steve's hands off Sitwell and smoothed out his blazer. "You're right, it's not." She said, almost too calm for Sitwell's taste.

Steve stepped aside, showing Cassie and Nat. "It's theirs."

They kicked him off the roof.

"Wait, what about that one in accounting?" Nat turned to Cassie. "Begins with an L, I can't really remember."

Cassie looked to her, shielding her eyes from the sun. "Leonard, Star Wars tattoo and eyebrow piercing, right?" Nat nodded. "No, I'm not ready for that."

Sam came flying over them, bringing Sitwell back onto the roof and landing just behind them. His falcon wings closing as he landed.

Sitwell sat up. "Zola's algorithm is a program!" Sitwell exclaimed in panic, finally giving in. "For choosing Insight's targets-"

"What targets?" Cassie asked.

Sitwell panted. "You, a TV anchor in Cairo, the Under Secretary of Defense, a high school valedictorian in Iowa city, Bruce Banner, Stephen Strange, anyone who's a threat to Hydra now, or in the future!"

Steve furrowed his eyebrows. "In the future, how could it know?"

"How could it not?" Sitwell sat back as Sam walked closer, behind Sitwell. "The 21st Century is a digital book and Zola taught Hydra how to read it," He stood up as they looked at him blankly. "Your bank records, medical histories, voting patterns, emails, phone calls, your damn SAT scores!"

Cassie caught on quite quick, although she didn't understand how. "The algorithm evaluates a persons past to predict their future," She finished for him and Sitwell nodded. "What then?"

Sitwell looked around in panic. "Oh my god, Pierce is gonna kill me." He muttered.

"What then?" Lee pushed him.

"Then the Insight helicarriers scratch people off the list, a few million at a time."

Nat was driving while Cassie was sat in the passenger seat, their car driving in front of Steve, Lee, Sam and Sitwell's car.

"I'm just saying," Cassie continued, tapping her foot anxiously. "Our time window is closing. We have 16 hours left to stop this, you understand this?"

Nat kept her eyes on the road. "I know," She replied. "I'm sure they'll phone us with a plan in a minute."

Before Cassie could get another word out, she heard a scream from behind them. They both looked into the rear mirror and their eyes widened when they saw Sitwell being pulled out of the car and thrown onto the other side of the road.

Cassie's breath stopped when she saw that it was the Winter Soldier. She watched as he stood on top of Steve, Lee and Sam's car and shot through the roof. Nat knew it was harsh, but she came to a quick brake in front of them and Sam understood so her stopped their brakes as well. The Winter Soldier went flying over the two cars and landed in front of them.

"Oh shit." Cassie cursed.

They were pushed forward unwillingly when a truck came up behind Sam's car, pushing both cars forward. Nat steered away from them as Cassie leaned out of the window, shooting at the Soldier. Another truck came up behind them and crashed their car into the side just as the others fell out of their own car.

"Oh god," Nat exclaimed, rubbing her neck. "You alright?"

Cassie cracked her back as she stood up. "Yeah, I'm fine."

Lee and Steve were blown off the bridge by the Winter Soldier while Nat, Cassie and Sam were hiding from the shots being fired at them by the Strike team so they began shooting back. The Winter Soldier came up to Cassie, seeing as she was closest.

If you were watching, it would've been the most intense fight you've ever seen. Both of them knew each other's fighting styles. She knew where he was going to hit and he knew where she was going to kick. He knew where she hid her daggers, so he pulled one of her boots and slashed her face and arm. She knew where his metal arm weakness was so she punched him in the back of his shoulder and twisted his left arm around.

He growled in pain but swung his arm around to put it back in place, throwing her backwards. She knocked him out from under his feet but they both stood up quickly. before she could stop it, he grabbed her by the throat using his metal arm. She struggled to breathe until she wrapped her legs around his head and on his shoulders and swung down in a classic Black Widow move.

Cassie couldn't breathe so she ran, the Soldier pointed a machine gun at her. It hit the car next to Cassie but the explosion threw both her and Nat off the bridge. They landed easily and Nat managed to damage one of the Soldiers glasses, forcing him to take them off. They ran, making sure to get citizens out of the way.

A few soldiers had come down and were now shooting at Lee and Steve who had climbed out of the bus. Cassie went up behind one of them and bit into his neck, sucking the blood which gave her the extra strength she needed.

She looked over to the middle of the road and saw Lee and the Winter Soldier in a fight but somehow, he easily managed to knock her down before Cassie took over again. But it wasn't like earlier.

She took one look into his eyes and everything froze.

He clearly didn't recognise her so when he went to attack her, Steve came up behind him and took over instead.

Lee came over, despite being injured. "Cassie?" She asked, but her voice sounded muffled. "Cass, what's wrong?"

"It's him," She whispered, but Lee just frowned.

Everyone's eyes were one Steve and the Soldier. It was obvious to everyone that they matched in strength and skill so they weren't surprised when they fight took a while. Eventually, like it happened in slow motion, Steve grabbed ahold of the Soldier's jaw and flipped him over.

The mask fell off as he rolled to reveal Bucky Barnes. Cassie, Steve and Lee stopped in shock.

"Bucky?"

"Who the hell is Bucky?"

Cassie's head hurt badly as she opened her eyes. it took her a minute to realise she was in a golden room with caged doors and sat in a chair with restraints holding her down. She begin to panic, knowing where she was.

"Don't panic, we won't hurt you." Secretary Pierce and Agent Rumlow walked through the door.

Everything came back to her. The fight on the bridge, Bucky, being thrown in a separated van and being injected with vervain.

"Oh my god." She whispered.

Pierce sat down in front of her. "What do you remember?"

"Everything." She replied in the tiniest whisper with a tear falling down her face.

He nodded. "I wouldn't try escaping, if I were you," He told her, she grew confused so he explained. "A few weeks ago, a few agents took a trip down to a quaint little town called Mystic Falls. There, they grabbed a girl named Elena Gilbert who had the cure to vampirism. After we extracted it we had to kill her, for obvious reasons. So basically, you're not a vampire anymore."

Cassie looked at him, horrified. "What?" She spat. Cassie had been a vampire for 1000 years, how was she supposed to be a human if she'd forgotten how?

Pierce ignored her. "I was just speaking to Bucky," He continued. "He remembered you. Steve and Lee as well. But mostly you. I suppose love can really overpower everything. He's currently having his mind wiped though. Fortunately for us, we can still make you stronger."

A doctor came over with another needle and Cassie had an idea what it was. "Is that...?"

"Super soldier serum," He confirmed. "We extracted it from one of the other Winter Soldiers in Russia. He was a weak one anyway so luckily it killed him."

"Why do you need me back?" She asked him more confidently. "I'm not going to fight for you."

"I know," He nodded. "We can't force you, that would be too much work. Cassie, for 50 years you and Bucky were our most dangerous assassins. I mean, governments were afraid of you. You were rumours, whispers. Killers. The only way I can get The Warrior back, is if we do it the same as before."

Cassie understood immediately and tears began falling down her face as she was pushed back into the chair and a mouth guard was placed in her mouth. "No, no, no," She cried. "Please no! Not again!"

"Wipe her, and start over."

Cassie's screaming could be heard from miles away.
