With no other options left Shinjen plans to begin his harrowing quest all alone with no help from others when Nozomi proposes to Shingen an alliance for the journey to stop Minamoto as she feels it's not only her future but also the entire fate of the empire that hangs in the balance. Godaigo fearing for her daughter's life requests Shingen to promise that no harm shall ever come to Nozomi even if he has to sacrifice himself. Shingen is initially unwilling but Nozomi proves herself as a resourceful and skillful partner to locate a scry map to track Minamoto's whereabouts. She reveals that the scrying map can be obtained from the ruins of an underground temple built by the cult of Kagutsuchi, the supposed father of Mikaboshi, a malevolent Shinto God who gave birth to him from his blood. Although the temple's current location remains hidden, she had heard of its countless stories as childhood fables from her father and is sure to find it among the maze of jungles. But in a cruel twist, the scrying map only works temporarily only when it is activated by the blood of a royal or royal descendent. Shingen deduces that this must have been intentional on the maker's part because the continuous usage of the scrying map will weaken the user to the point of near death by hemorrhage, thus preventing the user to find the true location of the mythical island and hence Mikaboshi's return will be averted.
