Shadowfurs reveal
Shadowfur balanced herself on a branch as she let Silverstorm feast on the squirrel she had caught. The night sky was dark which made Shadowfur almost invisible and thats how she wished she was at this point. Invisible.
"What's concerning you?" The younger she-cat suddenly asked.
Shadowfur raised her head to meet Silverstorms yellow concerned eyes. Of course there would be a lot of things to be concerning, they were in a death arena.
"Oh it must be silly of me asking that I'm just trained to pick up on other cats emoti-" The she-cat suddenly stopped mid-sentence.
"Are you a medicine cat?" Shadowfur raised an eyebrow.
Silverstorm didn't answer she just cowered back in the center of the tree. Shadowfur suddenly was curious but didn't push it. She did have something on her mind and since they were destined to die she might as well get it out.
"Well it doesn't matter to me. I do in fact have something on my mind that I'd like to get off my chest." Shadowfur meowed.
"Is it about you're kit?" Silverstrom questioned out of the blue.
"Wh- How?" Shadowfur stammered.
"Starclan spoke with me about every tributes biggest regret...I don't know why." Silverstorm admitted shyly.
Shadowfur's face paled in horror. Would Starclan really reveal other tributes weaknesses? Shadowfur shook her head. It wasn't her problem, she'd be going to the Dark Forest anyway.
"If you must know yes. In fact he's in the games right now." Shadowfur felt the words crack under her tongue.
"Really?! Who?"
"Goldenscar... I was a young she-cat at the time. And Goldenscar's father well after I found out I was expecting...he'd already been dead for a moon. Crushed by a falling tree. I had nothing there was no way I could support a kit. But when I had him...it was magical he was the spitting image of his father bright blue eyes and a golden pelt that shined under the night sky. I held him in my paws and his tiny golden paw reached to my cheek and our eyes met. I knew I had to give him a chance and I did. I tried. I tried. Oh I tried so much to make ends meet but once I ran out of Goldenscars fathers money we were on the street. I had begun to starve and therefore my kit had no milk and I couldn't do it anymore. I gave him to the orphanage. I looked at him through the window with a queen it looked like he had already forgotten who I was. That day I walked so far away from that orphanage. To the edge of district seven."
Shadowfur sighed and side glanced to Silverstorm who looked in an understanding way as if she could feel exactly what Shadowfur was feeling.
"But now he's a bloodthirsty killer. He's out to kill me for vengance I guess...so as long as I get to apologize to him...I'll be ready to accept my fate and perhaps join Starclan."
Silverstorm looked into the older she-cats eyes that were now cast into the night sky. She then closed her own hardly realizing she was slowly beginning to drift to sleep.
Shadowfur had fell so deep into her memories she forgot Silverstorm was there. When she tore her gaze from the stars to the young sleeping she-cat. Silverstorm looked exhausted and she probably was running for her life. The young she-cats gray and orange chest rose and fell peacefully.
Suddenly there was rustling from a tree in the distance. Shadowfur froze. Goldenscar. There was a sudden rush in her heart if Goldenscar would kill Silverstorm without thinking. A surge of will to live filled her from her tail tip to her ears. Shadowfur had to put a stop to the murdering machine that was her son.
With quick thinking Shadowfur leaped closer to the sound of rustling trees leaving scents away from Silverstorm, she didn't ask to be involved. The night breeze whisped through Shadowfur's fur and was blowing straight in the way of the rustling trees. For a heartbeat Shadowfur thought she had a scent but it was nothing.
After several heartbeats of searching everything was quiet once more. Shadowfur finally decided to jump down to the forest floor.
"Come on Goldenscar! I'm here!" Shadowfur called into the night.
The night remained eerily quiet not even the occasional rustle of wind through the trees. Shadowfur felt a sick feeling pertruding her stomach. Had Goldenscar found Silverstorm? Shadowfur's heart almost beated out of her chest thinking of SIlverstorms death being her fault. She waited however for a couple heartbeats before taking a step back to the tree Silverstorm was in when...
Weight of a heavier cat slammed her body into the forest floor. Shadowfur could swear one of her lungs had collapsed by the loss of air. Her head also expierenced severe blunt force. She was beginning to dizzy and tried her best to turn around to see her attacker when everything went black.
