Day 3 (Part 1)
Amberrain blinked her eyes open to the bright rising sun. She went to get up when she realized her tail was under a boulder. Amberrain slammed her body into the boulder and pushed as hard as she could but it wouldn't budge.
"Great Starclan!" Amberrain hissed.
Amberrain reached for her dagger and took a deep breath in then pressed her dagger down on her tail. She held her jaw from a yowl, in case anyone would hear her.
Amberrain quickly compressed the nub where her tail had been. Then rose to her paws.
"Tigerslash!" Amberrain called quietly searching among the rock fall.
Amberrain pulled up rocks and boulders calling and beginning to worry. Not about Tigerslash but about the bag full of food.
Amberrain hissed in frustration looking faster inhaling any scent she could get. This ruined her plan of trying to finish off the game with out the group.
"Here," a voice croaked.
Amberrain perked her ears and let out a breath of relief. She followed where the sound came from to three boulders with only a paw sized hole. Amberrain pushed and slammed her whole body against the hard rocks until she was dizzy.
"Go get Shrewtail and the others," Tigerslashs weak meow came.
Amberrain unsheathed her claws in frustration, but then thought.
I can get them and take the bag. Once I get back to camp I can rob them too and leave during the black of the night.
"Alright Tigerslash hold on!" Amberrain called before bounding back towards camp missing the swish of her long tail.
"Eat!" The she-cat ordered.
Goosepaw blinked open his eyes to the warm smell of squirrel, but the pang of his absent leg made him wince.
"If you're in pain drink the moss," The shecat instructed and rose to her paws.
Goosepaw blinked his eyes too wary to talk to her. Even though the shecat had helped him he was still worried she would try to kill him, but he lapped from the moss.
"Alright I'll be back," Cloudfern meowed and began padding away.
" No don't leave!" Goosepaw found himself shouting in fear. Being with another cat was still better than being alone no matter if she was going to kill him or not. Especially since his leg was gone now.
"I'm going to find the Dreaders, they have a cat who's got medicine cat experience. He can make sure you don't get infection ." Cloudferns voice was as soothing as a queens.
That's where Goosepaw thought.
This is an arena where every cat dies but one. This she-cat didn't have to help him, in fact it was pointless but she was doing it.
"Okay," Goosepaw found himself whisper.
Cloudfern came over and rubbed her muzzle against his ear, then turned and walked away. Her white tail tip vanished into the ferns and she was gone.
Shadowfur woke to the sound of a bell. Her heart rushed. From above a silver cylinder fell from the sky into her lap. Shadowfur opened to see what she has been sponsored. Inside was a net, a large net. Shadowfur pulled out the card from under the net.
For Shadestripe.
Thank you,
His mother
Shadowfur felt a fire begin to burn in her. The image of Shadowfurs wide fighting dead eyes filled her mind. Anger surged through her and she rose to her paws ignoring all the stinging pains in her body.
Shadowfur grabbed her small spear and the net from Shadestripes mother. She was going to find Tiger and Shrewtail then finish them.
Ravenpaw stretched blinking his eyes open and shook out his black fluffy fur. All the other Dreaders were asleep. For a heartbeat he thought he'd be able to run for it. At the start he thought he'd be better off with them, but after hearing how Stonepelt and Flamewing nearly killed Goosepaw. Ravenpaw had been surprised the apprentice was still alive.
"Ravenpaw,"Silverpaws voice whispered behind him, surprisingly not scaring him out of his fur.
Ravenpaw looked at the other apprentice in curiousity, but didn't dare speak to her. None of the Dreaders allowed Ravenpaw the liberty to speak. They hadn't even showed him a sliver of kindness.
"It's Flamewing...he's not himself anymore...He's scary now...he lashed out at me for talking about protecting me he said that he couldn't anymore..." Silverpaws voice was hesitant and terrified.
Ravenpaw noticed the other apprentice kept glancing back at the sleeping Dreaders almost shaking out if her fur.
"Larkwing will protect you he seems to like you," Ravenpaw suggested.
Huskyfangs killer did seem to have a soft spot for her, for whatever reason Ravenpaw couldn't name. But he had noticed the district four tom did seem more distant. His blue eyes had faded to a distant gray. Last night he just stumbled around looking to the sky speaking to an invisible cat, but only Shrewtail and Ravenpaw had noticed.
He had heard Shrewtail muttering under his breath," If he wasn't the only one with medicine cat experience..."
Ravenpaw and Silverpaw sat side by side in silence watching the sun peak over the horizon. Both if their minds were racing with so many thoughts that just couldn't reach their mouth.
"We could run," Silverpaw finally spoke.
Ravenpaw didn't answer right away. He tossed the thought around in his mind. Everyone had always said he was more of a thinker than actor. That's probably why his mother hadn't come to say goodbye. She knew that morning was the last morning she'd see him.
"No," Ravenpaw finally spoke.
Even if they did choose to run that would risk him being tracked down by Flamewing or Larkwing.
Ravenpaw perked his ears hearing Shrewtail and Flamewing stirring.
"You should head back." He grumbled staring off into the distance.
Silverpaw sighed and rose to her paws heading back to the fire pit. As Ravenpaw watched Silverpaws gray tail swish away.
Cardinalpelt woke that morning tossing and turning an idea around. He knew if he used his bombs now it would scare Dawnflower off, but if he didn't he risked another day where the Dreaders could take her out. He finally made up his mind and began his new search.
Shrewtail stretched and yawned looking at the others sleeping and noticed a rank scent of bile in front of Tiger. He nudged her awake and she woke in a hissing fit nearly scratching Shrewtail.
"Watch it! You should see Flamewing for whatever that is," he nodded at the bile.
"I'm fine!" Tiger hissed and started to stalk away.
Shrewtail blocked her. " You're not getting the rest of us sick with whatever you have."
He stared hard at the she cat for several heartbeats until she turned away then turned back.
"Follow me." She meowed and headed off behind the cave that acted as the cornucopia.
Shrewtail tilted his head curious, but more than ever frustrated with the situation. He followed after the ginger she-cat.
Why can't the darn she-cat just see Flamewing if not he just might have to finish her off right behind the cave.?
Once they both were behind the cave and Tiger had made sure no one else was around she looked to Shrewtail. Whitetail looked at the she cat annoyed that this was taking up his time.
"I'm expecting Husky fangs kits." The shecat spoke without breaking her voice. Confident.
Shrewtail tried to hide the shock in his face. He tried his best to not use any emotions in what he said next.
Tiger looked into Shrewtails eyes in defiance. Ready to protect her kits and herself if he lashed out on her, but the district one tom just shook his head.
"You can't stay here any longer Tiger." He finally spoke.
"You can't make me leave! At least wait until Tigerslash returns she's the only one who-" Tiger was interrupted.
"Leave now! Or I'll be forced to fight you Tiger." Shrewtail hissed.
Tiger sheathed her claws and arched her back when she heard Larkwing, her mates killer, call for Shrewtail.
She turned eyes blazing on Shrewtail. She couldn't fight two to one that's put her kits in danger.
"You'll regret this," Tiger grunted before racing away towards the tree line. She glanced back to see Shrewtail heading back to the others.
They'll all pay!
Cloudfern made it to the outskirts of the Dreaders camp clearing. She perched herself in deep brambles searching for Flamewing when she heard two toms talking.
"He's set all the traps now there's no reason to keep him alive any longer, he's just another mouth to feed." The first voice whispered.
"Then there's no reason of keeping Silverpaw," the second tom meowed.
"Try fighting that with Flamewing."
"He's off his rocker he was talking to himself last night he's gone maniac," the second tom argued.
"Just let her have more a chance. We could use her for bait or something Shrewtail! But Ravenpaw has to go especially since Tiger is gone and Amberrain and Tigerslash haven't returned." The first tom persuaded.
"Alright I'll finish him. Take him out with me on a patrol," Shrewtail agreed then the two toms stalked off
