Day 1 (Part 2)

"WAIT!" The voice was from Badgerstrike.

Badgerstrike stepped out from behind the group and looked to Hailscar and Berrytuft. Hailscar was seething out of his mouth with rage from being halted and Berrytuft looked on at Badgerstrike with curiousity.

"Why can't their be just two groups," Badgerstrike suggested.

Although this suggestion was mainly for Badgerstrikes own gain, he hated the idea of one big group. If he got the Dreaders to split it'd be easier to kill them off one group then the next.

Ripplenewt looked to all the she-cats with a lustful eye. If there was a group full of she-cats he could start his love affairs with them one by one.

"Yea one group all she-cats."

Mousesnarl cast Ripplenewt a disgusted glare, but nodded her head in agreement with Badgerstrike.

"Hailscar can be the leader of the Dreaders and Berrytuft will be the leader of the other group." She spoke.

In her mind which ever group became the smallest would be the easier to take down and besides Hailscar was obviously the more powerful.

"No!" Hailscar snapped.

The district one tom turned to look at Berrytuft with a dark glare.

"I'll be the leader of this new group. We will be called the Terrors! More feared than any of the Dreaders! Whoever agrees come stand by my side!"

Hailscar padded a little ways away and looked among the group of cats. Mousesnarl was the first to pad by his side.

Badgerstrike looked from Hailscar to Berrytuft questioningly. Hailscar seemed to act more on violence than reason, Badgerstrikes heart told him to go with Hailscar and get on his good side. However he still swore he'd protect Silverstorm. Badgerstike turned to look at the gray and orange she-cat standing behind him. Her eyes were watching Hailscar in disgust and fear. Stupid she-cat, why couldn't she see Hailscar was one of the stronger cats. He began to turn and walk towards Hailscar when his sisters voice rang in his ears.

"Promise you'll never break a promise in your whole life?"

Badgerstrike dug his claws into the ground in frustration. Silverstorm could make her own decision, she didn't always have to follow him, but then he remembered approaching the she-cat in training. Her eyes were scared as she spoke of being used only for her medicine cat skills and then killed off. He then sat and told her if she helped him he'd promise to keep her safe.

Barbwire cast Berrytuft an evil eye before following after Mousesnarl to stand by Hailscar. He was the most blood hungry just like her. Berrytuft might have more experience, but was too kind hearted. Hailscar would get the games going faster while Berrytuft seemed as if he went more by Starclan than the dark forest.

Snowfrost immdediately made her way towards Berrytuft and stood by his side. She believed Berrytuft would be more reasoning and responsible than

"You're way better than Hailscar would ever be no matter what," She meowed close to his ear.

"I didn't even want to be leader of anything."Berrytuft responded.

Snowfrost glanced towards Hailscar then Berrytuft then looked all around at the others. None of them seemed to have any leadership skills, in fact she was worried about Mousesnarl joining with Hailscar, since she always acted in charge.

"Well I'm glad you are," She meowed approvingly.

Silverstorm stood behind Badgerstike and Berrytuft, glad that Badgerstrike had chosen Berrytuft over Hailscar. She had been a little scared he was going to chose Hailscar. Silverstorm knew some battle moves and was very defensive when it came to defending herself. However she'd spent most of her apprenticeship learning herbs and had got behind in some valuable defense training that made her less confident in self defense.

Owleye hesitated looking from Hailscar to Berrytuft, he only knew how to manipulate others into traps and Hailscar seemed very mentally strong. Owleye looked to Berrytuft and saw uneasiness in his eyes. He grinned and padded towards Berrytuft.

Ripplenewt had had his eyes on Barbwire for the longest time. Although the she-cat was very violent her looks had Ripplenewt glued. He wanted to see if he could get closer to the dangerous delicacy and padded to stand alongside Hailscar.

"Then it's decide," Hailscar spoke. "We'll take the Cornicopia!"

"No!" Berrytuft immediately protested stepping forward.

Berrytuft then thought for a minute. He didn't ask for this position, but he couldn't keep the Dreaders outside in the blazing heat. But he couldn't join Hailscar, the young cat was reckless and would put every cat in danger.

"Well?" Hailscar hissed, aggravated.

"Give us three sunrises to make camp," Berrytuft persuaded.

"Never! We'll just fight you now!" Hailscar roared.

Behind Berrytuft Barbwire and Mousesnarl unsheathed their claws with their paws on their weapons and crouched along with Ripplenewt, whom of which didn't look too certain. Berrytuft could hear the low hisses behind him of his own cats.

"If you fight now you'll lose some of your cats. So will I. You won't have many cats to finish off the rest of the tributes," Berrytuft tried to reason.

"I just need me to kill off every cat in here!" Hailscar sneered

"Hailscar," Mousesnarl spoke suddenly from behind Hailscar.

"The other tributes could form another group and revolt against you. We can spare three nights, send them out during the day to find a new camp," Mousesnarl suggested.

"I can keep night watch on them so they don't steal our weapons and don't try anything," Ripplenewt meowed.

Hailscar seethed as he thought for a moment.

"Fine. Ripplenewt and Barbwire, you two go grab all the bags. They get none." Hailscar ordered.

"Berrytuft! You can't let him do that!" Owleye argued.

"Join him if you like! We have our weapons and I think any warrior thats earned their warrior names would learn how to hunt by now!" Berrytuft glared at the younger tom.

"Now Snowfrost and Silverstream head north and hunt. Remember to look out for a possible camp spot. Give any passing cat a fighting chance. We don't kill defenseless cats." Berrytuft ordered and padded to the far right shelter of the Cornicopia with Owleye and Badgerstrike at his sides. He knew the two weren't fully faithful. Berrytuft realized Badgerstikes hesitation when the cats were choosing their groups. And Owleye was just beginning to question him.

"I'm searching for firewood. If this climate remains the same the nights will be brutally cold," Berrytuft announced.

The district three tom padded away from the other two toms wondering how he'd make it through the games. He didn't look forward to being leader, but he couldn't stand to be under Hailscars control. He needed to find another camp soon and take down Hailscar.

Biohazard began to explore through forest, lifting her nose every so often to scent out other tributes. The forest was a complete opposite of what the climate had been around the Cornicopia. Lush leaves basically dripped water from them and the grass underpaw brought relief to Biohazards burning paw pads.

As Biohazard made her way through the forest two things caught her senses. The first was the sound of running water nearby. The next was a scent of another cat. Biohazard immediately chose to confront the other cat. Ever so quietly Biohazard made her way closer to the other cats fresh scent. As she noticed she was trekking towards the treeline Biohazard began to crouch, ensuring every step would make minimum sound.

Once the district ten she cat saw the white pelt of a smaller cat she paused to watch and see if the other cat was even alive. Biohazard lifted her nose, no smell of blood or decay came from the other cat.

Biohazard poked her head up higher noticing the pelt of the cat belonged to Sagebramble of district seven. Sagebramble's chest rose and fell as if she was in a slumber. Biohazard was surprised the young she-cat had made it past the blood bath since she had been the youngest she-cat in the games.

Without hesitation Biohazard turned back to where the sound of the river had come from and with haste, she rushed off to find moss. She noticed a large patch of moss along the base of a tree and immediately unsheathed her claws pulling up a clump and wrapping it under her chin. Biohazard then perked her ears for the sound of rushing water and followed until she made her way to a skinny stream, not even big enough to fit a rat. It was something though.

Biohazard dipped the moss into the stream and rolled it back under her chin. The moisture from the moss trickled down Biohazard chest, making the she-cat shiver. The she-cat ignored it though and rushed back towards where Sagebramble had been laying. Once again when Biohazard reached the treeline she ducked down and crept closer.

However, once Biohazard reached the spot where Sagebramble had laid all that was left was bent grass in the shape of a cat. Biohazard immediately dropped the moss from her chin and stepped back, finally scenting the air again to find nothing but the stale scent of Sagebramble. Biohazard was curious as to what happened to the young she-cat when suddenly...

Sagebramble crept behind the long furred brown she-cat. Sagebramble had woken to find the she-cats scent near her and feared she was a Dreader. Immediately Sagebramble had rolled over and hid behind the tree waiting for the she-cat to return with the rest of the Dreaders. However now it seemed as if Biohazard was alone, but Sagebramble wasn't going to take that chance.

With each step closer Sagebramble could sense Biohazards confusion, but no rage. Finally Sagebrambles muzzle was almost pressed to Biohazards discolored gray tail when Biohazard leaped into the air and twisted around, landing to face Sagebramble. Sagebramble didn't flinch, even though the other she-cat was twice her size and definitely older than she was, Sagebramble was going to stand her ground.

"I got some moss for you," the she-cat meowed with no menace at all.

"What?!" Sagebramble questioned, surprised.

"You were passed out. I was guessing from the heat you'd need some water," the strange she-cat responded.

Sagebramble stared at the she-cat then looked down to the soaking moss in confusion.

"I'm Biohazard from district ten by the way," Biohazard meowed.

Sagebramble looked at the other she-cat again wondering if she was just sucking up to her to get into the bag that rested on Sagebrambles back. Sagebramble hadn't even had a chance to look through it herself to see what she had gotten, but when Sagebramble looked to Biohazard the other she-cat just looked back friendly.

Finally Sagebramble gave in for her thirst and leaned down to lap from the moss not even realizing how dry her mouth was. She looked up to Biohazard as she lapped then back to the ground. It would be nice to have another cat around.

Shadowfur nested herself up in a tree, carving a rock into a short spear, just like Shadestripe had taught her. Most of the tributes had threatened her from the start, especially the higher district tributes. Thats why Shadowfur was planning to stay on her own, but there was something she wanted to do. Starclan allowed her to win for a reason and Shadowfur was going to fulfill it before she passed away to become part of the Dark Forest.

Suntail had quickly climbed up a tree and began her trek jumping tree to tree trying to get as far from the Cornicopia as she could. The only skill she had was hunting and she knew her fellow district tribute, Goldenscar, would be her only challenge. Wait. Suntail forgot that Shadowfur had entered the games as well. A cruel joke from the capital to throw her back into the horrifying games. Shadowfur would definitely be in the trees as well as Goldenscar. The poor victor had suffered enough from the first games, however she did end up killing in the end and that worried Suntail now.

The breeze blew through Suntail's gray pelt as she made her way to a tall oak. She looked around the forest floor and crouched. Suntail remained crouched and totally still as a rock staring at the forest floor with only her ears perked. A squirrel might possibly bounce by in the tree by accident, but Suntail wasn't going to even try taking her chance on the ground.

Lilytoad had made her way to a forest area that stuck out like a sore paw. Sand surrounded the small forest. Only about ten or fifteen trees rested there with huge lush green bushes that were taller than Lilytoad. Lilytoad has scratched her pelt along the bush branches trying to find her way to a good resting spot when she finally she tumbled out of the bushes with her paws splashing in cold refreshing water. Lilytoad looked to find a huge pond laying right in front of her.

The she-cat felt her heart rush and she pounced around in the water. It was the most water she'd seen in her whole life. This was the best last minute decision destination she'd ever made. Hopefully she could wait the games out here since it was so far from everything and maybe she could even teach herself how to fish.

Starlingmask had followed the young Sagebramble's scent after seeing her plunge into the forest with a large backpack attached to her back. No doubt the young she-cat had a couple cans of food in there. He'd talk her into sharing with him, convince her that their friends and by nightfall snatch the bag and run.

Starlingmask made his way to where the small she-cat had entered the forest when he scented another cats scent. Biohazard. The older she-cat was friendly, but not dumb like Starlingmask though Sagebramble would be. He hissed under his breath wondering how he was going to fool them into giving him the bag.

Goldenscar bounded through the trees with ease, his crossbow latched tightly around his shoulder. The forest was more refreshing than the hot open desert. Goldenscar began to think it'd be best to remain in the forest than joining the Dreaders in the blazing heat. But for now he was looking for one cat in particular. In fact he could smell the cats scent in the branches under him. He grinned and bounded after the scent.

Stormthistle padded alongside Wonderingwind. After the two had made it to the treeline they decided to search for water. They had both unzipped their bags and found that Wonderingwinds was full of canned tunas and chickens while Stormthistles was only three slingshots with ten dead TimberBees the size of her paw. She had thought for a second and remembered Timberbees dead or alive paralyzed the cat with contact to the stinger.

However Wonderingwind suggested she toss the bag. She had argued with him they'd need it, but Wonderingwind opposed saying it could bring harm to others and he wasn't that type of cat. At this point Stormthistle didn't even know why she was still with the tom, just for alliance maybe.

Suddenly Stormthistle perked her ears. She had heard the trickle of water on rocks and raced after the sound leaving Wonderingwind in her tracks.

Wonderingwind padded behind Stormthistle more slow. He was so confused as to why she wouldn't want to try and stop the violence and killing. Wonderingwind knew for a fact that he didn't want to die a meaningless death he wanted to help change the other cats from their bloodthirst back to their own innocence Their was good in the world and Wonderingwind was going to prove it to Stormthistle.
