Chapter 9
Jellal POV
That strange human female. So familiar. It really pissed me off how hard it was to figure out what I was missing. A simple lead. So simple. I just need to remember. I sat in the library with Levy as she and Freed took shifts, trying to decipher the old, forgotten human language. According to Dragon history, we've spoken the same language for centuries. We don't actually have a language so to speak. We use human tounge, though we've only ever used one, unless you're an archive dragon. They tend to know about 15 each, Levy knows about 20 and Freed knows, maybe 16. Dragons used to mainly communicate through grunts and body language, well, that was before humans posed an actual threat. Now we actually need to speak so we can say, 'hey bro watch out, ballista, hurling 20 rotting yak corpses right at your butt'. Trust me, it does not translate well.
I was dragged out of my train of through by a victory screech, "YES! Freed! Get your scaley ass over here! I figured it out!"
The bright green male came rushing into the room, nearly tripping over his own tail. We sat down and discussed the implications. There seemed to be no apparent side effects and it allowed us to do it at will once we cast it upon ourselves once. Only thing is, the transformation takes a lot of magic power.
"Jellal, uhh I don't think we should go through with this. It may have unforeseen consequences. We cannot afford to loose you."
I nodded sadly. Well, I guess the idea is on hold for now.
I exited the library/ research room and began to wonder through the halls aimlessly. I wondered into the sparing room, the biggest one in my whole cave system. We have several indestructible dummies left from the last dragon king's reign. The room seemed to be empty. A loud bang could be heard from one of the far corners. Flashes of magic power shot across the room. Slashing of what seemed to be swords. I trained my eyes on the source of the noise and lumbered over. I could see a fluffy of red as it bounced between the dummies at an unimaginable speed. It suddenly stopped, revealing the red headed princess. She wore a light looking armour that seemed to have a leopard print of some sort and a loin cloth. She held quite a small sword compared to what I've seen from her. She stood panting, her eyes down. I doubt she noticed me. She went back at it, ricochetting off the dummies and walls, I watched in awe.
After about half an hour she halted. She looked up at me, her exhaustion the only emotion visible on her composed brow. She did a long swipe sideways and the sword dematerialised, along with her armour in a slight glow. After the glow disappeared, she wore a more causal looking armour, a blade draped by her side. She walked towards me, her shoulders back as she walked with confidence and perfect posture.
"Enjoy the show?" She asked sarcastically, bowing.
"Quite amazing." I complimented, "I suggest you spar with maybe Natsu and Gray, though they might be too easy for you."
"No, I want to spar with you." She said, her face blank, devoid of any visible emotion.
I nodded as I lowered myself and readied to pounce. I watched as she switched to a new armour. If you could call it that. It was literally a pair of red flowy pants with a flame design and bandages around her chest. She had a long katana blade and her red hair was tied back.
We spared for hours. She could shift her armour at a moments notice.
We finally stopped, sitting down in the middle of the room, Wendy had brought me about 10 elk & 8 deer. I offered Erza one, before I realised that she was human and had to have her food cooked. She said it was okay, she just told me to char it, with the fur on, and the inside would be cooked, which she was correct on. She, much to my surprise, ate most of the elk, only leaving behind the bones and some organs. Her hands were surprisingly clean after we were done. This princess was truly something else. Usually you'd expect them to make a big fuss. No this princess was more dragon than anything. I continued to scan her face. I'd seen her before.
I decided to investigate, "Erza, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?"
She paused, "Oh not at all, I'm almost 18, why?" She questioned.
"Just for curiosity." I answered simply, "I was trying to figure out where I've seen you before. Anyway, when did you start training to become a knight? I doubt your father would allow you, his heir."
"No, I started when I was 10, my grandfather trained me in secret, and my squire qualification mission was to deliver a message to the old dragon king."
Realisation soon came flooding back.
"Where did you get the last name, Scarlet?" I pressed, if I was correct, she was her, the one I met all those years ago.
"I was given it, by someone I cannot remember. All I remember was the colour blue."
"Erza."
"What?"
"That was me."
"What. No that's impossible...... it couldn't b-." She was interupetd by being scooped up in my claw once more. I held her infront of my face and pointed to my marking.
"Remember this?"
