Chapter 5

Jellal POV

A year since I became king. Man, it's been a pain. Laxus has taken to being an Advisor , Natsu and Gray are both Guards, Wendy is Now the royal healer and Levy is the resident archive master and book nerd. Along with Freed I guess. Ever is, well Ever and Bixlow is another Guard. Ever since I became king, stupid puny humans have seemed to take a liking to attacking my cave. They would raid with their tiny pointy sticks and it was frankly quite annoying. I replaced the 'castle embedded into the mountain' look with just the biggest cave possible. It has large caverns and networks, meaning it is extremely difficult to locate my treasure and the sleeping quarters of myself and my friends. Though because of the lack of a castle and way more dragons flying around the area, it's attracting a lot of knights. It's pissing me off.

As king of basically the skies, I had a say to who could and couldn't fly. I really didn't care and let the other dragons do as they will. I didn't tax them and I released all captives from the dungeons. Well, not like we can use them. We do not have any humans in the castle to do our bidding such as locking up the tiny mechanisms that were used to control the dungeons. No alive ones anyway.

I sat just by the entrance when a young dragoness came running to me, tripping over her own green tail. She landed on her face infront of me.

"K-king J-Jellal! P-please! Help! The knights! So- many......" her eyes watered. Shock evident in her eyes.

"Lead me to them." I growl. She nods her head and stumbles in the direction she came from, I followed patiently behind her. We arrived at a small formation of rocks, a pool of blood lay on the ground. I heard the soft clanking of armour. Suddenly, an arrow was let loose, hitting the young dragoness in the chest, making her fall dead instantly. Her scales hadn't properly developed yet. I roared, setting the grass ablaze with my celestial fire. The knights screamed and ran. I roared and chased after them, burning them instantly. I halted and returned back to the young dragoness, her limp green body shining in the sun. I felt a pang of sorrow for the young female, taken to soon. I followed the trail of blood back to where I guessed her parents lay. The bodies torn to pieces. Rage pulsing through my veins. I would have my revenge. I dug a hole and buried the family together.

After I was done, I took to The skies. They were gonna pay.

Erza POV

It's been a year and I'm still basically grounded. The dragon attacks have been increasing in size and magnitude. Rumour has it that the dragon king himself has ordered it and is attacking villages himself. Father has a pot of all the knights names and sends one off every week. It's been 6 weeks and Master has just notified me that my name has been put in the pot as I have been a knight since the end of the war. My father however is unaware. Pft. What are the chances of me being chosen? I mean, Fiore is massive! We have over 20,000 knights. They're not like soldiers who are trained to fight other nations, they're like the national guard. That are basically trained monster hunters and Help with disaster clean ups and are usually like the police. But the dragon attacks have been more frequent of late.

I sit in my guilded, Sliver plated throne. I can't have gold because I'm a woman apparently and I'm literally 'second best' until Father either dies or retires and if and when I get married to whichever weirdo my father finds, I'll still be second best. So far my dear old daddy hasn't found anyone willing to marry the princess Titania so I think I'll be fine. I prefer silver anyway. Golds to flashy. My pink Armadura Armour fitting quite comfortably. I tapped my fingers impatiently as I waited for the next unlucky soul to be sent to their doom. After the old dragon king was killed, the new one has killed all humans who dared to face him. There's nothing I could do really. It hurts to see knights go and get killed for nothing but I cannot do anything about it. House arrest and all. Well, palace arrest.

Father was on his feet, standing on the pedestal, next to a large bronze pot that held all knights names. The knights waited anxiously bellow in the stadium, awaiting to see who would win the misfortune of being eaten. My feeble old father shuffled around in the bronze pot. I sighed. Rolling my eyes. My crown that I had asked to be made of Titanium instead of the princess's silver was surprisingly light on my head.

He continued to shuffle. Unsure on which piece of paper to choose. He finally made his decision. He pulled it out and unfolded it. I walked up to stand beside him as he read out the name scratched into the parchment.

"The next brave Knight to attempt to slay the dragon king is.....Erz- What? No it can't be! This is not allowed it ca-." I snatched the paper out of his hands.

"The next knight to attempt to slay the dragon will be.........." I paused to re-read the paper. Surely this is a mistake, "Erza Scarlet."
