Jellal POV

It's been 6 years. I only have fleeting images of that girl, don't even remember her name. I'm now 16 years old, an adolescence. We have trained for years. Laxus stood beside me. He's 20 years old now and almost an adult, though he told me privately that he did not want to be the one who killed the dragon king. 

The dragon king, Ivan. Most evil creature created. He constantly took all dragon's food and treasures. He stole females, young and old to... pleasure himself. We have protected Levy, Wendy and Evergreen, but Laxus says that Ivan, avoids him. He refused to elaborate. Ivan never leaves his cave/castle.  He over hunts and antagonises the knights into attacking. It was his fault my parents were slaughtered. 

Wendy came up behind me. She hid under my wing, pressing to my side. She'd just turned 9 and was growing fast. She was very submissive and would often hid underneath me when there was thunder outside our cave. We've managed to create a hiding perch for her, Levy and Ever to hide, but because of Laxus apparently, the guards never explore more than a few feet inside the cave. 

"Hey, it's ok Wendy. Bixlow, Ever, Freed and I will stay here with you." Levy says gently. She's like the glue of the group. She's small for a 15 year old dragonet though. Natsu and Gray were busy ramming their heads into each other. They were both quite large for Dragons our age but were both younger and smaller than me and Laxus. 

"You two!" I hissed at them, "That's it! You're staying here!" I growled.

"But why? I want to kill Ivan!" Whined the pair, "No, I'm killing Ivan, No I am!" They argued. I rolled my eyes and whispered to levy to make sure they stayed here. Levy's quite scary when she's mad.

The sky greyed as we marched to the home of the devil. We couldn't fly because it would alert him as to our presence. We needed the element of surprise.

As we stalked, I felt my heavenly body magic building up in anticipation. My claws scraped the soggy dirt beneath my claws. Laxus walked beside me, eyes trained on the blurred image of the castle, just a few Km away. We continued to walk, soon aware that we were being watched. Laxus' Lightning crackled slightly at his feet and tail, his eyes glowing yellow. We were a few minutes from the castle when he finally spoke.

"Jellal, I-I have to tell you something." He says, muttering, "the reason Ivan has been avoiding us is because he-." He paused a tear slipped past his eye, Though it was hard to see because of the down pour. "He's my father." He says. Shock running though me faster than his lightning. "That's the reason he left us alone. The reason, I'm this.........." He says quitely, "a dragon. I- I need to get that back, see my best friend again, if she saw me like this, I don't know what she'd do." I stayed silent. We continued walking.

We finally arrived at the door. I sent a meteor blast to the door, turning it to ash. As we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a large, purple dragon. He lay on a pile of stolen gold and gems, knight helmets and swords hung on the walls. I could hear the distressed moans of other dragons within the castle. The dark chuckles of the Drake infront of me bounced off the walls, "So... if it isn't my only son. The only kid that that unless woman produced." He says, his gaze piercing my soul, "Have you and your little friend come to join me? I have a bunch of hot females with your names on them." He says. I growl quietly. I spotted a tear escape Laxus's eye, "Oh don't tell me, you became a whimp while you were gone, didn't you?" His accusing stare shifted its way between me and Laxus. Laxus's eyes darkened.

"It was your fault that the knights came, that they killed Levy's parents,"

"Ooo who's this Levy you speak of? A hot young female, I don't suppose?" Ivan snickered.

"Your fault Jellal's parents are dead."

"Who's Jellal?" He laughed anger built up inside me.

"Your fault that the stupid Lacrima that you implanted in me turned me into a dragon, Your fault that mom is gone!" He roared, tears streaming down his face.

"Tsk. Delara was pathetic. Her only purpose was to produce an heir. The only task of worth that she ever completed." Laxus had lightning generating around him. He pounced at Ivan, unimpressed, Ivan used his wing lazily and slapped Laxus away, rolling his eyes. "Pathetic. Just like your mother." He growled as Laxus lay sprawled out on the floor, his limbs hung limply. "Almost as pathetic as that bitch who rejected me for that Drake, what was her name, Nova?" My heart stopped. Rage welling up inside me. For once my head and heart were telling me the same things... kill, kill, kill... I felt my body tense. I glared at Ivan with pure hatred as he laughed at his own son's limp body on the floor, lying half dead. I rushed towards him,  dodging all of his feeble attempts in defending himself with his wings and tai. I leapt on him, claws outstretched, mouth pulled back in a snarle to reveal my printed teeth. I clamped down on his neck, the most vulnerable part of a dragon beside in between it's ribs.

The dragon king was dead.

When the dragon king dies in a battle, the one who had killed him, becomes the new dragon king. But I wasn't fussed about that at the moment.

I bounded over to Laxus. His limp body and shallow breath was pretty obvious. He was badly injured and I needed to get him to Wendy straight away, for a nine year old she was an amazing healer.

After some futile attempts, I finally had Laxus resting on my back. I sprinted to the cave, seeing as flying wasn't really an option since Laxus was on my wings.

As soon as we reached our cave, I laid Laxus down and Wendy rushed straight over to heal Laxus.

"What happened?" Freed demanded.

"Laxus was injured while we were fighting Ivan, he's gone now though." I briefly explained.

"Will he be OK?" Evergreen asked worried.

"He should be fine." Wendy replied as she tended to Laxus.

I pulled everyone over (except for Laxus and Wendy obviously) to explain in more detail about what happened. About how Laxus was hurt, and how Ivan was dead, and that I was now the dragon king. That they were now my court, that we ruled the skies.
