Chapter 11

11

Asher

Her parents... I am in the presence of Reece's parents... "That's not possible. You're dead! You went missing over a year ago!"

"We don't have to explain ourselves to you." Stacey snapped. "All you need to know is that you can't be with our daughter. We won't allow it!"

I groaned loudly and tried to thrash out of Bennett's hold, only succeeding in causing myself more pain. "I haven't seen Reece in over five months!"

"Did she run from you?" I could hear the smirk in Stacey's tone. "Oh, I'd be so proud of her if she did! She always was the spunky, outgoing one! Takes after me..."

"No!" I gave up trying to escape. Why is his grip so hard? "She was kidnapped! By Rogues!"

There was silence. "What...?"

"Five months ago..." I said just above a whisper. "Reece and I were walking in the park. We stopped in the field and we were suddenly ambushed by Rogues. I tried so hard to protect her and keep her safe, but they used silver rods to knock me out. They took her... right from my arms..."

My chin was gripped roughly and made to look at Stacey. I winced as her nails dug into my skin. "Where is she now?" Her voice was cold, yet deathly calm at the same time.

"It's taken us this long to figure out that she's somewhere in Arizona." I said. "We also know who's behind it all. All we have to do is find Reece and the others, then we can search for the leader."

"Why haven't you found her sooner?!" She shrieked in my face.

"Because we haven't had a lead since one of the females escaped!" I shouted back. "We thought they were here, but no! They're hundreds of miles from us in Arizona! We only just figured out where this past few days when one of the females escaped and found us in a hotel down there!" I gasped out a cry of pain as my hands were now almost touching the tops of my shoulders.

"Don't raise your voice to her!" Bennett hissed in my ear. "You're in no position to be shouting at us!"

"Just wait until Reece hears about this..." I grunted out. "Knowing that her parents are practically torturing her mate... You're lucky neither of us can feel the connection at the moment..."

"What are you talking about?" Stacey growled out.

I swallowed and tried to bite back the pain. "After the Rogues kidnapped the women of the four different packs here, they put silver over the marks, keeping us from communicating with each other... This is why we haven't found them sooner..." I threw my head back out of Stacey's hold and the back of my head connected with Bennett's nose. He cried out and stumbled back. I turned and ran, hoping to get away quickly.

The second I was out of the house, I shifted, my clothes ripping, and I raced away from the apartment complex, just completely leaving the car. And keys! Damn it... Nyl's not gonna be happy with me... I'll retrieve the keys at a later date.

Right now, my main priority, besides getting Reece back, is getting away from her parents.

I can't believe it... Her parents are alive! They aren't dead! How is this possible?! They shouldn't even be here! I mean, I'm sure Reece would be thrilled to see them, but she's accepted the fact that they're dead and won't come back! So, why are they here?

I shook my head to clear it. I have to tell someone.

I raced to the pack house and shrugged on some shorts the second I reached the boundaries of the pack house. I threw open the door and glanced around, hoping to find her. People stared at me as I paced through the house.

I got to the second floor and went straight for her room. I knocked, then threw the door open. Shelbie and Jayden flew apart from a heated make-out session and he hovered over her, growling rather loudly.

I snarled back. "Not in the mood, Jayden!" I snapped at him. "I need to speak with Shelbie. It's urgent."

"Jay, it's okay..." She lightly cupped his cheek and he relaxed greatly. He left the room and I took his place next to Shelbie. She fixed her hair. "So, what's up?"

I came out bluntly with it. "Reece's parents are still alive."

All color drained from her face. "Wh-what? Asher, that's not possible..."

I nodded hard. "I saw them. The door to Reece's apartment was unlocked, and, thinking someone broke in, I entered and encountered her parents. They're Hunters, Shelbie. They said Reece and I aren't supposed to be together." My hands bunched into fists at the thought of what her parents said.

"What happened?" She asked softly.

I snorted. "Where do I begin? Her father tackled me and pinned my legs under him and my arms up my back, and her mother tried to strangle me with thick silver chains!"

A sad look crossed her eyes. "They must be the wrong people, Asher. Reece's parents aren't violent like that."

"When I asked who they were, they replied with 'her parents.'" I tried to reason. "Rorie's part of the Hunters. Ask him if he knows!" Slowly, she pulled her phone out and dialed his number.

"Hey, Rorie," She tried to sound happy. "Really? That's spooky. We're so in sync. Anyway, I gotta- what? Oh, I'm so sorry... Listen, I gotta.... Another one?! Ugh... when will this end? Alright, I'll tell Nyl in a bit. But Rorie, list- Listen to me!" She snapped. "Did you know Reece's parents were alive?" Everything went quiet.

"Oh..." She barely said over a whisper. "So, this whole time... Did you know they're Hunters? Really? What?! No! Not them, too! You're lying! That can't be true! ... You swear? ... Ultra positive? ... Okay... I believe you... Bye, Rorie..." She hung up and placed her phone on the nightstand.

"Well?" I prompted.

"Can you tell Nyl that there's gonna be another attack on the four houses tomorrow?" I quickly linked that information to him. She took a deep breath before she spoke again. "Asher, Reece's parents, my parents, and Rorie's are all part of the same Hunter's group, but something came up to where Reece's parents had to leave, and they told Rorie's parents to say they were dead to cover up their tracks. I didn't get all the details, but they are truly alive..."

I looked towards the floor and took a deep breath. "All this time... they've been alive and hiding... But from what? Who or what could be threatening them? This doesn't make sense!"

"Asher, calm down," I shook her hand off my shoulder. I stormed out of the room and slammed the door behind me as I went straight for my room. The second I set foot in there, I reached for the shirt and pressed it close to my nose.

This doesn't make sense. Why would they do this and put their daughter through so much hell? What could they be running from that warrant them to covering their tracks with a "death?"

My eyes scrunched together a bit. Why does the shirt smell like...? My eyes widened and I pulled it away from my nose. It smells... clean! No, no! Her shirt was cleaned! This was one of the only items that had her scent on it extremely strong! Who the fuck washed her shirt?!

Only one name came to mind.

Tyson.

I streaked from the room, my cheeks and face heating up with anger as I barged in on my brother's room. He was alone. He leaped to his feet from his bookshelf and stared at me. "Bro, what's gotten into you? You always ask!"

I held the shirt up. "Why the hell did you wash this?!" I shouted angrily at him.

He raised an eyebrow. "You think I do your laundry? Asher, who would want to touch your laundry! It stands up on its own! I haven't been in your room since..." He trialed off, not wanting to bring it up.

I bared my teeth at him. "Someone had to have! You're the only one I know who goes into my room to pick things up! Do you realize this was the last thing that was keeping me sane?!" He stared at the shirt.

"Is that Reece's?" He asked.

"YES!" I roared at him. "And you washed it! Now her scent is gone! There is nothing left here that will be able to keep my wolf and I at bay!"

He growled at me. "Asher, I haven't been in your room since Reece went missing. I would never have touched your things, knowing that Reece missing is a touchy thing for you! I would have never done this!"

"Bullshit!" I snarled.

"Language, Asher!" A voice snapped. We turned our heads to see mom standing there with a basket on her hips.

And it was full of my clothes. "Honestly, boys! Can't you say anything else but swear words?"

"Mother?" I tried to calm myself down as I spoke to her through a clenched jaw.

"Asher, what's the matter?" She stepped a bit closer.

I held the shirt up so she could see it. "Did you wash this shirt?"

She looked at it then nodded. "Yeah, I did. Asher, that shirt hasn't been washed in months! I'm sure Reece wants clean clothes when she gets back."

Something snapped inside me and Carmon surfaced. "Do you realize what you've done?! You just took away the very last item that had my mate's smell on it! The very last thing that was keeping me sane through all of this!"

Her eyes narrowed a bit at my. "Go outside, Asher. Run off this pent up steam. Don't come back until you've calmed down."

I growled loud and hard. "You can't order me around! You're the one who made me this way! You're the one who took the last of my mate's scent away from me!" I yelped when she dropped the basket right at her feet, marched right over to me, then started dragging me with her nails pinched on my ear.

I tried to struggle away, but it only brought on more pain. At the door, it swung open and I was tossed out. I tumbled down the stairs and leaped to my feet. "Stay outside until you've become more civilized!" Then the door was slammed shut, and locked. I let out a cry of outrage and ran towards the forest, stripping mid-stride.

Carmon took control once more and I watched through his eyes as I was fuming and raging inside. She should have asked me about the shirt! She should have asked about what to take for laundry! She should have just not done my laundry! Now it feels like Reece is completely gone from my life! I have nothing with her scent on it now! And it's all her fault!

The scent of a Rogue sent Carmon into a blind fury and I couldn't stop him as he wheeled around and went to attack. Soon, there were two dead Rogues at our feet.

"Not good enough." He said. "I have to kill more. I need to make others shed blood." He took off to find more Rogues to kill. In total, he killed off twenty Rogues. He was about ready to call it a day when he suddenly crouched down behind some bushes.

There was a whole camp of them! They were everywhere in this clearing! And it just might be the team that's supposed to attack the packs tomorrow.

I can't slink away now; they'll catch me. I linked Nyl and told him where I was and what I found. I also told him to approach with caution so he doesn't alert the Rogues.

I kept watch as he said to wait for us. No Rogues came and gone, and the camp seemed a little on edge. Did I kill their scouts? I must have because they started to talk in hushed whispers.

"We have them surrounded." Nyl linked to me. "We attack and ask questions later on my mark." There was a quick bark a few seconds later and the whole clearing broke out in a blood bath as Wolves from the packs leaped from the trees and attacked the Rogues. I got a few kills and knock outs in before everything came to a stop.

There were slight moans of pain from the Rogues that were still alive, but there was more dead ones than live. Some of the Rogues didn't even get the chance to shift.

A hand reached out and grasped my leg. I snapped at the hand and bared my teeth to the Rogue.

"M-M..." He coughed up a fountain of blood. "Mario... will... win... He... always does... He will get..." And then he died from a laceration to the side of his neck and down his back. I didn't have to hear all of what he was going to say to know what he was talking about. I just had this feeling he wanted Lana at all costs.

Nyl felt it too. He and the other two alphas barked out orders to get the mess picked up. I slowly paced around the now red grass, looking for anything. I found a couple broken phones. They weren't useful to me. I passed over them.

A small chime alerted me. I whipped back to see one of the cracked phone's screen fade to black. I changed back and picked up the blood soaked phone and wiped off some of the splatters off the screen and protective case.

It was a new text message.

M: change of plans. Hunters found our location. attack now

Me: you're dead when i find you I texted the person back. We killed your army you sent after us. Keep sending them; we'll just kill them off one by one until there's only you left. You will fall, and we will have our mates back.

The reply was almost instantaneous.

M: i had a feeling something like this was bound to happen.

Me: you're a dead man

M: if you can catch me. i look forward to seeing how the four packs band together to try and stop me. but i will stop at nothing until I have what i want! I promise you this: Lana will be mine and there's nothing Nyl can say about it!

Me: if you think you can get away with this, then you're gravely mistaken! we WILL find you and you will SURELY die! you can count on that!

M: i welcome death. come at me

The phone snapped in my hands. I growled in frustration and threw it at a dead Rogue's head. "He's taunting us!" I shouted to Nyl, who was on the other side of the bodies. "He's been taunting us this entire time! He loves seeing a reaction out of us! He wants us to keep fighting his army!"

Shorts were passed over to me and I slipped them on.

"Who's been teasing us?" Nyl asked as he made his way through the blood and bodies.

"Mario." I hissed. "He says he'll get what he wants, and that's Lana. And, if we do catch him, he says he'll be ready to welcome death with open arms. He's been taunting and teasing us this entire fucking time since the girls have been kidnapped!"

"Then we give him what he wants."

"What?" Nyl and I faced Krivix.

"We give him what he wants." He said again. "He wants Lana? We give him Lana. He wants death? We give him death."

Nyl had Krivix by his neck. "We are not giving that bastard my mate!"

Krivix swatted his hand away. "I know we're not. The reason I suggested it is because I have a plan that I want to try and use when we get back to Arizona. It will work; trust me. We'll get Mario out of his hiding hole and we get the other girls back. I'll explain it back in the safety of the basement."

~~~~
"So, everyone understand the plan?" Krivix asked once he finished explaining. We all nodded. "Good. Let's put it in to action."
~~~~

We're in Arizona again. We're in the southern pack house, ready to put our plan to action. First, we just have to wait for Rorie to get back with our bait. Then, we can get the plan moving.

We were waiting for the plan to start in the living room off the main entrance. I was staring out the window, and saw the car pull up. Now to wait about ten minutes. I messed with a small, black box on the table beside me. Soon... So very soon. We'll be able to get the girls out of this mess. We'll be home and Reece will be within my arms in roughly two hours. Just two hours! Carmon was anxious and restless.

"The Rogues are contained." Rorie said from the living room entrance. "They're being taken care of right now and- Lana? What are you doing here?"

I pushed a button on the box. "Rorie, Reece is my friend. I want to help."

"Lana, no. It's too dangerous." He paced in to the room to stand before the table to finish the small wall. "What if the Rogues get to you?"

"That's a risk I'm willing to take." She said confidently.

"Does Nyl know about this?" He asked.

"He tried to talk her out of it." Krivix answered. "She refused. She wanted to help her friends."

"But she's still pregnant!" Rorie protested.

"That was Nyl's reason why she shouldn't come with us." I said. "But she insisted she come. She's so certain she can help defeat the Rogues, pregnant or not."

"That's right!" Lana added. "I may be pregnant, but I'm not helpless! I will help get Reece and the others back!"

Rorie groaned and I gave a slight smirk. "Fine! You can stay! But! Before we actually go out to find the girls, you are to stay in the safety of the basement. I don't want Nyl to kill me because I didn't protect you."

"Understood." I pushed another button on the box as the very faint sound of a door closing reached my ears.

A few minutes later, Carson entered the room. "I didn't think the recording of Lana's voice would actually work. You really fooled the two Rogues that were captured. You sure it was safe to let those two just go?"

I nodded and gave Krivix his recorder. "Yes. We already have one of our men from one of the smaller packs back in Oregon following them. We'll have the banded together smaller packs take out Mario's forces, then bring him back to us once he's found, and our search party will go after the girls to rescue them."

He sighed heavily. "I just hope this works... I know Krivix is the only Alpha with so much planning and strategies backed up and ready, but what if something goes wrong? What if there are Rogues inside the house with the girls and when they see you, they threaten to kill them?"

"Already taken care of." Krivix assured. "I have a plan for that." He draped an arm over Esther and pulled her close. "My mate will take us right to them, I'll have my warriors watch over her while we infiltrate the pack house, and if something like that does happen, the Hunters will come in from the back and distract them. It's bound to work."

Carson nodded. "I wish you guys luck then. And I will have my forces and the forces from the northern pack ready for when Mario's men come for Lana."

"Even though she's not here." Rorie reminded. "From what I've been told, she's being moved to a new state until this mess it sorted out. They don't know they're walking in on a trap."

"We wish you luck, Alpha Carson." Krivix gave his shoulder a pat.

"I wish the same on you." He repeated the action. "May your girls get back safely." They nodded, then we headed out. Krivix and I got in our own car and lead the trail. Dozens of cars followed ours. I sat in the back, since Esther had to sit in the front and give directions to where they were being held.

My finger tapped my knee non-stop. I had to do something to keep myself in check. I've already gone so long without getting a sniff of Reece's scent. Ever since mom washed my shirt, I've been slowly losing my mind. I need to find Reece soon. I need to have her in my arms. I can't go another day without her.

Soon, we pulled off the road. Krivix said a few words to Esther before we got out. As soon as she was out of the car, three of Krivix's warriors came on either side of her and guided her to another car. If something did go wrong, Krivix was to link the warriors to get her out of here as fast as possible to safety.

I stripped out of my clothes and tossed them in the car, then shifted. We were to wait exactly five minutes for the Hunters to get to the pack house, then we could charge in. I watched as Rorie and thirty other Hunters took off to the destination. I sent them a silent "Good luck," then began the count down.

Exactly five minutes later, Krivix gave the signal and fifty members strong took off after the Hunters. We followed their scents. Just before we made it to the pack house, we shifted back an took up the shorts that were left by the Hunters, then marched right up to the door.

Without a second thought, I kicked the door in, then rushed in. "Reece!" I called out. "Reece, it's Asher! Reece! Baby, I'm here for you!" There was no answer.

"Spread out!" Krivix snapped. "Some search outside, some in the basement, some in the house, and some in the prison cells! Let's move!" I stayed inside and searched everywhere for Reece, constantly calling out her name and begging for her to stop hiding.

I made it upstairs and found several rooms with closed doors. I opened one, finding it empty. I moved on. Same result. When I opened the third door, the smell of honey and citrus hit my nose.

Reece. I ran in and searched every nook and cranny; everywhere in the room. "Reece, please come out! You're safe! Please, please come out!" I searched that entire room for her, but never saw her. She wasn't here.

Panic set in. Where is she? What did the Rogues do to her? Did they take her somewhere? Where is she?!

I grabbed a pillow off the bed and inhaled deeply, calming both me and Carmon. She isn't here... But her scent is. I'm taking this pillow case back with me. Since her shirt was washed, I need a new source of her scent, and I'll make sure to hide it this time.

"Asher," I turned towards the door to see Rorie standing there. "There's no one here. We searched everywhere. But, we do know the girls were here. There are signs of them being here. Some of the Wolves told me their scents could be picked up. I see you already found Reece's..." He trailed off and rubbed a hand behind his neck.

"We were fooled." I said as I slowly walked over to him. "They knew we were coming and relocated the girls. They aren't here anymore. Has Krivix already been informed?"

He nodded. "He was the first person I told. He's sent scouts out to search for any sign of where they might have gone."

I nodded slowly and took the pillow case off the pillow. "Thank you, Rorie..." I walked from the room and went for the kitchen. I found a large freezer storage bag in one of the drawers and stuck the pillow case in it. With a heavy sigh, I followed the others out of the house.

As I passed the living room, I saw several toys for infants. I had to look away and clutched the bag closer to me. I hope we find them before Reece has her child. I want to be there for her in case something does happen and her dreams come true. I can't lose her... I don't know what I'd do without her...

I met the group of Hunters and search party. Krivix took a deep breath. "Well, from the looks of it, the girls were taken somewhere before we got here. Somehow, word got out that we were heading here and it got to Mario. But that won't stop us from searching for the girls. We will not rest until we find them! The Rogues and Mario will pay for what they have done!" Cheers rang out from the crowd. "We shall make them pay for what they have done!" More cheers.

My phone suddenly went off as Krivix kept up with his pep talk. I stepped away to answer it. "Hello?"

"Did you find them?"

My shoulders slumped. "No, Lana... They weren't there. Somehow, Mario knew we were coming and had them taken somewhere else."

"So..." Her voice shook a bit. "Mario is behind this? No doubt about it?"

"Yes..." I confirmed. "Mario is the one who ordered for you and the others to be kidnapped. He's not who you think he is anymore, Lana. He's changed drastically. He's become cruel and heartless. Please, Lana. You have to let him go. You can't hold on to the past anymore. The old Mario probably died the second you went with Nyl. He's probably been planning this from the very beginning!"

"Okay..." She sniffed. "It'll be hard, but I will no longer think of Mario the same way ever again. He's gone; no longer the person I know. He's a stranger. Bye, Asher." She hung up.

I stuck my phone back in my pocket and followed the groups back to the cars to head back. Hopefully, Carson and the others are having better luck than we are.

------------

Lana

I hung up on Asher and stared at my screen. Nyl and I were squished together, our faces as close together as possible as I took a selfie of us. We were both grinning like loons. The corner of my lips turned up and I dialed a number. As it rang, I stared out the window of my old pack house in Ohio.

"Port Columbus International Airprt." A woman answered.

"Hello. How much would a flight to Arizona cost? And I would have to leave in a few hours."

----------------

Reece

"How much longer on the formula?" I called out to Bennie as I tried to calm her son.

"It's ready!" She rushed in to the room and carefully took Simon from me. "There, there beautiful boy..." She cooed as she fed the formula to him. "It's alright... I've got you..." I gave the two of them their space and headed up to my room. I carefully sat on the bed and stared at the ceiling, one arm draped over my forehead.

I'm getting close to about seven months. I've been away from Asher for almost six. This distance from him must be driving him insane and slowly killing him. I turned over and buried my head into the pillow. I can't go without him... He has to be there for me when our child comes. I can't do it here, or anywhere else. It has to be with him by my side.

My door suddenly slammed open and I nearly fell off my bed in fright. "Get up, get your shoes on, leave everything behind." The Rogue demanded. "Don't ask questions. Just do as I say and be downstairs in two minutes."

"What's going on?" I asked as I slowly and carefully sat up.

He growled, and I was surprised I didn't back down and cower away from him. "I said not to ask questions! Let's move!"

"But what's happening?!" I demanded louder, shocking both of us, but I hid it. "I won't go if it's not safe for my child. I demand to know what's going on!"

He flinched slightly. "We've been found. We have to move now." With that, he left.

Who found us? My eyes widened. "Asher!" I whisper-yelled. He's found us! But wait, we're leaving... An idea formed and I found a piece of paper on the small desk and pulled out a pen.

"Asher," I wrote.

"I seriously hope you find this note. I got a Rogue to tell me that you're coming for us. I want you to know that our child is growing and is healthy and well. I love you, and I can't wait to see you soon."

I quickly folded up the paper and kissed it before I placed it in one of the desk drawers. I turned away from the desk just as the Rogue came back.

"Let's go." He held up a small bottle, and I knew what it was.

"No," I took a step back. "I don't want that stuff in my eyes! I promise not to look out the window!"

He frowned. "Get over here."

"No!" He leaped for me to try and force them into my eyes. I screamed and flailed my arms to try and get him away from me. In the midst of the struggle, I tripped over my feet and my arm scraped on the corner of the desk, leaving a burning sensation. I cried in pain, but didn't fall.

The Rogue had caught me and began carrying me from the room. As he carried me out of the house, he managed to get the drops in my eyes, even though I was fighting him hard. Soon, my vision grew fuzzy, clouded, then dark.

I was placed in a car, and buckled in. I reached out to my left and felt a hand. Ingrid's. She squeezed back.

"I'm scared..." I whispered as the car started up and quickly drove away.

She gave my hand a comforting squeeze. "It's alright... We're going to be alright..."

I nodded and felt my child moving inside me. They've been doing that a lot for the past few months. Oh, how Asher would love to enjoy these moments... I felt tears form in my eyes and I quickly tried to blink them away.

I gave up in trying to stop the tears and settled for placing my hand over my stomach. I instantly felt the head and gently traced my thumb over what felt like the top part of the forehead. Every time my child moves, I would do that. It always brought a smile to my lips, and the child would settled back down.

My child slowly settled back down and I gave a soft sigh. I flinched a bit when the hand that Ingrid was holding of mine was tugged on hard and pressed on something. "Reece, feel!" So I did. I grinned.

"It's moving." I smiled, though she couldn't see. "Mine has been, too." Then I realized that Bennie has been silent. "Hey, where's Bennie?"

I felt Ingrid shrug and my arm was given back to me. "I don't know. I was only able to see that she was put in another car before the drops were put in my eyes." I nodded slowly and waited for when we would come to a stop and we were put in this new place.

I hope Asher sees my note. I lowered my head a bit and prayed that he would find it.

Someone suddenly sniffed. "Is that... blood?" I heard Ingrid ask.

I lifted my head again. "What?"

She sniffed again. "Someone is definitely bleeding."

The Rogues started sniffing as well. "Shit..." I yelped as the car swerved hard and the crunch of gravel sounded. A door opened, then slammed shut. Soon, my door opened and I shied away from him.

"You're bleeding." He said. "Give me your arm." When I didn't comply, he gripped my arm and pulled it towards him. I whimpered, but remained still as he wiped a cold liquid on my arm. I hissed at the pain and locked my jaw. Damn, that hurt! I think that's the same arm that was cut by the desk.

After he cleaned me up, a gauze was placed, then wrapped on my arm. "There." The door was shut once more, then the drivers opened once more, and we were off the second the buckle clicked.

I didn't know I had been cut that badly. Now that it was mentioned, there was a dull throb where I was injured. I wonder if my blood was trailed to the car...

I highly doubt it.

After what seemed to be about another hour, the car slowed. We came to a stop and we were led from the car. My eyes started to burn as a door opened and I rubbed at them, wincing slightly.

"This where you'll be staying," A Rogue said as I was put in a chair. "Remember, we're always keeping tabs on you. We know your every move, so don't even try to escape." I blinked my eyes and stared at the room as my vision slowly came back to me. The front door slammed shut and was locked from the outside.

"Ingrid?" I called out.

"On the couch, Reece." She answered. I found her rubbing her eyes and stretching a bit. "Might as well get comfy." She laid across the couch and sighed softly.

"Don't you care that we got moved?" I asked her in disbelief.

She looked up at me. "I do care. It's just, right now, I'm trying to keep my mind off of all the things as to why they moved us. I only want one thing right now, and that is to be back in Signih's arms. If moving allows or prevents that, I'll adjust. But... I wish we hadn't moved... I didn't have enough time to grab the necklace Signih gave me. They dragged me from the house when I was just settling down for a nap. My necklace was left on the desk..."

"Hey..." I got up and wiped away her tears. "It's alright... We'll be alright... I'm sure they're even closer to finding us! We'll be out of here in no time."

Now to just believe those words myself.
