Jack's POV: Chapter 10
It was past lunch time, and my stomach was growling. I had started out in the Space mountain ride. It had taken hours, but I finally made it out of the dark maze. I exited the ride, and went looking for something to eat. I found a turkey leg stand, and you wouldn't believe who was operating it!
The March Hair himself! He was fuzzy, like an old movie, and every once in a while static buzzed through him, while he was also slightly see through, but there was no mistaking it. "Um... Can I have your autograph?" I asked.
I was sure no one was watching, so it was fine. "No. Autograph time is after teatime, which is always at four." "Can I come back?" "You can, but I won't be here!" He laughed. "Can I have a turkey leg then?" "Yup! You got money?" I handed him my last ten dollar bill, and he handed me a turkey leg, smothered in barbecue sauce.
I took a huge bite, then hopped on my skateboard, and slid away. I was skateboarding past an enclosure, when a small throwing knife whistled past me, narrowly missing my nose. I held up my nunchucks, and that was when I realized how stupid I was. I didn't know how to use them! I just thought they looked cool! Even if I had, you can't kill people with nunchucks!
All I could do against the person hiding in the bushes, was put an arm over my heart, and the other over my neck, as I skated away at high speed. I felt a sharp pain, as the dagger sliced through my arm, and implanted itself in the bathroom wall.
I screamed in pain as the blood spurted out of the huge gash in my arm, my turkey falling unnoticed to the ground, I skated away, holding my arm. I was paying so little attention to my surroundings, that my entrance of fairytale land went unnoticed, as well as the fact that I was now in the teacup ride.
I rammed into a teacup, and flipped into the cup upside down. The old ride groaned, and began to spin. It spun faster and faster, until it was way beyond what it was supposed to do. The ride finally stopped, and I was so dizzy, that I slipped on my skateboard, and hit my head on the rim of the chipped teacup. The world went black.
I didn't know how much time had passed, but I could tell it was getting late. I realized that there was a crushing weight on my chest. That of a fat cat. I stood up, knocking whatever was on me off. I was so dizzy, that I almost fell down again. I thought I either had a concussion, or it was from blood loss. The cat appeared out of thin air.
"You think you can just shake me off like that?" He was grinning, but his eyes were angry. His eyes looked ready to kill. "I'm sorry? I guess... Uh... Are you upset?" I asked, although it was sort of a dumb question. I was getting lightheaded.
"Oh it's much worse than that. IM MAD!" He rushed at me, with yellowed claws so long and sharp it looked like they could impale me. I swung the nunchucks at him, and the claws shredded right through them, the stuffing spilling everywhere, and his claws only centimeters from my eyes. I threw the weapon back, and he flew backwards, straight into a tree. But instead of hurting himself, he melted through the tree, and came at me again, just as angry and insane. I had nothing else to do. I closed my eyes, and prepared for death. I heard a clank, and a swiping of cloth. Then I felt not so gentle fingers touching my wound. I resisted the urge to yell, and I blinked the tears away. I opened my eyes.
"Jacklin."
"No."
"I didn't tell you to do anything."
"Sorry I was expecting you to tell me to go away."
"Why are you helping me?"
"Look. She pulled off my sunglasses, and moved my head to look into her own reddish brown eyes. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you my mother was a villain. I'm sorry I threatened to chop off your head. But I'm not my mother. I can help people if I like." I didn't say anything. "Forgive me? Friends?" I nodded, and she replaced my sunglasses. I was surprised that she didn't care about them. I was surprised that I didn't care that she looked. One of my eyes was normal, a hazel eye, although I did have bad vision. But the other? It was completely terrifying. The part that was supposed to be white was bright red. And the rest was a lollipop pattern of pink purple yellow and white. It had no pupil. My mother had taken me to many doctors as a baby, but none knew why. Finally she took me to a fortune teller, and she said that I had the sight whatever that meant. Whatever it was she was wrong, because if I didn't have any sight in that eye, how could I have the sight? Jacklin had torn a strip off the dress she had changed into between the last time I saw her and now, and tied it tightly around my gash.
"Where are we going?" I asked. She had me leaning on her, as she half carried me away.
"Somewhere easily defendable. Where I can protect you until you get better."
"But where?"
"Disney Jail."
"Why? The Cheshire Cat is dead."
"No. I may have seperated his head from his body, but that never stopped him before. He normally does that on his own." She said, patting the axe that rested on her hip.
"Oh. That's scary."
'A bit. But you grow used to it." She sat me down in a little cell, and picked out the key from the ring.
"What? You're actually locking me in here?!"
"What better way to defend you?"
