As I ran down the stairs from the treehouse, I saw a boat in the docks. I remembered Levin and Dante telling me something about Malachi coming back today, so I ran to the boat in hopes he would be there.

"Malachi?!" I called, the business of the docks drowning out my voice.

"M-Mel?" I was enveloped into a hug, and I quickly returned it when I saw who it was.

"Oh, Malachi... I'm so sorry I didn't keep the promise!" I cried, tears dripping down my face.

"What're you talking about, Mel? My mom is safe, and that's all I could ever ask from you." He said. I sighed, nodding.

"Malachi... I'm leaving. I know I just got here, but it's hard to explain. It has to do with Garroth. If you ask Levin, he will explain everything to you, it's just-"

"Melanie?!" I knew hat voice anywhere- Laurence.

"I HAVE TO GO!" I yelled, kissing Malachi's forehead before making my way out of the docks.
